  • Usually, Evolutionary Algorithms are considered more efficient for optimal system design, However, the performance of the system is determined by fitness function and system environment. In this paper, in order to overcome the limitation of the performance by this factor, we propose a co-evolutionary method that two populations constantly interact and coevolve. In this paper, we apply coevolution to neural network's evolving. So, one population is composed of the structure of neural networks and other population is composed of training patterns. The structure of neural networks evolve to optimal structure and, at the same time, training patterns coevolve to feature patterns. This method prevent the system from the limitation of the performance by random design of neural network structure and inadequate selection of training patterns. In this time neural networks are trained by evolution strategies that are able to apply to the unsupervised learning. And in the coding of neural networks, we propose the method to maintain nonredundancy and character preservingness that are essential factor of genetic coding. We show the validity and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme by applying it to the visual servoing of RV-M2 robot manipulators.

  • In this paper. we introduce a new structure of fuzzy-neural networks Fuzzy Set-based Polynomial Neural Networks (FSPNN). The two underlying design mechanisms of such networks involve genetic optimization and information granulation. The resulting constructs are Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks (FPNN) with fuzzy set-based polynomial neurons (FSPNs) regarded as their generic processing elements. First, we introduce a comprehensive design methodology (viz. a genetic optimization using Genetic Algorithms) to determine the optimal structure of the FSPNNs. This methodology hinges on the extended Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) and fuzzy set-based rules. It concerns FSPNN-related parameters such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial, the number of membership functions, and a collection of a specific subset of input variables realized through the mechanism of genetic optimization. Second, the fuzzy rules used in the networks exploit the notion of information granules defined over systems variables and formed through the process of information granulation. This granulation is realized with the aid of the hard C-Means clustering (HCM). The performance of the network is quantified through experimentation in which we use a number of modeling benchmarks already experimented with in the realm of fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.

  • In this paper, applications of neural networks to vibration control of flexible single link robot manipulator are ocnsidered. The architecture of neural networks is a hidden layer, which is comprised of self-recurrent one. Tow neural networks are utilized in a control system ; one as an identifier is called neuro identifier and the othe ra s a controller is called neuro controller. The neural networks can be used to approximate any continuous function to any desired degree of accuracy and the weights are updated by dynamic error-backpropagation algorithm(DEA). To guarantee concegence and to get faster learning, an approach that uses adaptive learning rates is developed by introducing a Lyapunov function. When a flexible manipulator is ratated by a motor through the fixed end, transverse vibration may occur. The motor torque should be controlle dinsuch as way, that the motor is rotated by a specified angle. while simulataneously stabilizing vibration of the flexible manipulators so that it is arrested as soon as possible at the end of rotation. Accurate vibration control of lightweight manipulator during the large body motions, as well as the flexural vibrations. Therefore, dynamic models for a flexible single link manipulator is derived, and LQR controller and nerual networks controller are composed. The effectiveness of the proposed nerual networks control system is confirmed by experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose Neuro Fuzzy Polynomial Networks(NFPN) based on Polynomial Neural Network(PNN) and Neuro-Fuzzy(NF) for model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. The proposed NFPN is generated from the mutually combined structure of both NF and PNN. The one and the other are considered as the premise part and consequence part of NFPN structure respectively. As the premise part of NFPN, NF uses both the simplified fuzzy inference as fuzzy inference method and error back-propagation algorithm as learning rule. The parameters such as parameters of membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted using genetic algorithms. As the consequence part of NFPN, PNN is based on Group Method of Data Handling(GMDH) method and its structure is similar to Neural Networks. But the structure of PNN is not fixed like in conventional Neural Networks and self-organizing networks that can be generated. NFPN is available effectively for multi-input variables and high-order polynomial according to the combination of NF with PNN. Accordingly it is possible to consider the nonlinearity characteristics of process and to get better output performance with superb predictive ability. In order to evaluate the performance of proposed models, we use the nonlinear function. The results show that the proposed FPNN can produce the model with higher accuracy and more robustness than any other method presented previously.

  • Dynamic neural networks have been applied to diverse fields requiring temporal signal processing. This paper describes system identification using the hybrid neural network, composed of locally(LRNN) and globally recurrent neural networks(GRNN) to improve dynamics of multilayered recurrent networks(RNN). The structure of the hybrid nework combines IIR-MLP as LRNN and Elman RNN as GRNN. The hybrid network is evaluated in linear and nonlinear system identification, and compared with Elman RNN and IIR-MLP networks for the relative comparison of its performance. Simulation results show that the hybrid network performs better with respect to the convergence and accuracy, indicating that it can be a more effective network than conventional multilayered recurrent networks in system identification.

  • In this paper, we discuss a constructive approximation by Gaussian neural networks. We show that it is possible to construct Gaussian neural networks with integer weights that approximate arbitrarily well for functions in $C_c(\mathbb{R}^s)$. We demonstrate numerical experiments to support our theoretical results.

  • We propose a new logistic regression model of normality curves for normal(diseased) and abnormal(nondiseased) classifications by neural networks in data mining. The fitted logistic regression lines are estimated, interpreted and plotted by the neural network technique. A few goodness-of-fit test statistics for normality are discussed and the performances by the fitted logistic regression lines are conducted.

  • We derive a back-propagation learning algorithm of fuzzy neural networks using fuzzy operations, which preserves the shapes of fuzzy numbers, in order to utilize fuzzy if-then rules as well as numerical data in the learning of neural networks for classification problems and for fuzzy control problems. By introducing the shape preseving fuzzy operation into a neural network, the proposed network simplifies fuzzy arithmetic operations of fuzzy numbers with exact result in learning the network. And we illustrate our approach by computer simulations on numerical examples.
