  • This paper is devoted to investigating direct adaptive neural control of nonlinear systems with uncertain or unknown dynamic models. In the direct adaptive neural networks control area, theoretical issues of the existing backpropagation-based adaptive neural networks control schemes. The major contribution is proposing the variable index control approach, which is of great significance in the control field, and applying it to derive new stable robust adaptive neural network control schemes. This new schemes possess inherent robustness to system model uncertainty, which is not required to satisfy any matching condition. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed leaning algorithms and direct adaptive neural networks control schemes, intensive computer simulations were conducted based on the flexible joint robot systems and functions.

  • In this paper, we identify the memory effects of the RF high-power base station amplifiers with Vector Signal Analyzer (VSA). It is found that the model of power- amplifier using Tapped Delayed Neural - Networks with back-propagation algorithm shows very accurate modeling performance. Based on this behavioral modeling, we conducted inverse compensation process which also uses Neural Networks.

  • The objective of most image proccessing applications is to extract meaningful information from one or more pictures. It is accomplished efficiently using neural networks, which is used in image classification and image recognition. In neural networks, background and meaningful information are processed with same weight in input layer. In this paper, we propose the image classification method using neural networks, especially EBP(Error Back Propagation). Preprocessing is needed. In preprocessing, background is compressed and meaningful information is emphasized. We use the quadtree approach, which is a hierarchical data structure based on a regular decomposition of space.

  • At present, deep convolutional neural networks have made a very important contribution in single-image super-resolution. Through the learning of the neural networks, the features of input images are transformed and combined to establish a nonlinear mapping of low-resolution images to high-resolution images. Some previous methods are difficult to train and take up a lot of memory. In this paper, we proposed a simple and compact deep recursive residual network learning the features for single image super resolution. Global residual learning and local residual learning are used to reduce the problems of training deep neural networks. And the recursive structure controls the number of parameters to save memory. Experimental results show that the proposed method improved image qualities that occur in previous methods.

  • This paper presents adaptive learning data of evolvable neural networks (ENNs) for time series prediction of nonlinear dynamic systems. ENNs are a special class of neural networks that adopt the concept of biological evolution as a mechanism of adaptation or learning. ENNs can adapt to an environment as well as changes in the environment. ENNs used in this paper are L-system and DNA coding based ENNs. The ENNs adopt the evolution of simultaneous network architecture and weights using indirect encoding. In general just previous data are used for training the predictor that predicts future data. However the characteristics of data and appropriate size of learning data are usually unknown. Therefore we propose adaptive change of learning data size to predict the future data effectively. In order to verify the effectiveness of our scheme, we apply it to chaotic time series predictions of Mackey-Glass data.

  • In this paper, the authors introduce the concepts of neural computer systems which have been studied over 25 years in other countries. And also we illustrate the models of neural networks suggested by researchers. Our fundamental hypothesis is that these models are applicable to the construction of artificial neural systems including neural computers. Therefore we assume that neural computer systems are abstract computer systems based on the computational properties of human brains and particularly well suited for problems in vision and language understanding.

  • We derive a back-propagation learning algorithm of fuzzy neural networks using fuzzy operations, which preserves the shapes of fuzzy numbers, in order to utilize fuzzy if-then rules as well as numerical data in the learning of neural networks for classification problems and for fuzzy control problems. By introducing the shape preseving fuzzy operation into a neural network, the proposed network simplifies fuzzy arithmetic operations of fuzzy numbers with exact result in learning the network. And we illustrate our approach by computer simulations on numerical examples.

  • In this paper we propose a hybrid position/force controller of a robot manipulator using feedback error learning rule and neural networks. The neural network is constructed from inverse dynamics. The weighting value of each neuron is trained by using a feedback force as an error signal. If the neural networks are sufficiently trained well, it does not require the feedback-loop with error signals. The effectiveness of the proposed hybrid position/force controller is demonstrated by computer simulation using PUMA 560 manipulator.

  • While artificial neural networks are adept at identifying patterns, they can struggle to distinguish between actual correlations and false associations between extracted facial features and criminal behavior within the training data. These associations may not indicate causal connections. Socioeconomic factors, ethnicity, or even chance occurrences in the data can influence both facial features and criminal activity. Consequently, the artificial neural network might identify linked features without understanding the underlying cause. This raises concerns about incorrect linkages and potential misclassification of individuals based on features unrelated to criminal tendencies. To address this challenge, we propose a novel region-based training approach for artificial neural networks focused on criminal propensity detection. Instead of solely relying on overall facial recognition, the network would systematically analyze each facial feature in isolation. This fine-grained approach would enable the network to identify which specific features hold the strongest correlations with criminal activity within the training data. By focusing on these key features, the network can be optimized for more accurate and reliable criminal propensity prediction. This study examines the effectiveness of various algorithms for criminal propensity classification. We evaluate YOLO versions YOLOv5 and YOLOv8 alongside VGG-16. Our findings indicate that YOLO achieved the highest accuracy 0.93 in classifying criminal and non-criminal facial features. While these results are promising, we acknowledge the need for further research on bias and misclassification in criminal justice applications
