As meteorology is the driving force for lake thermodynamics and mixing processes, the effects of climate change on the physical limnology and associated ecosystem are emerging issues. The potential impacts of climate change on the physical features of a reservoir include the heat budget and thermodynamic balance across the air-water interface, formation and stability of the thermal stratification, and the timing of turn over. In addition, the changed physical processes may result in alteration of materials and energy flow because the biogeochemical processes of a stratified waterbody is strongly associated with the thermal stability. In this study, a novel modeling framework that consists of an artificial neural network (ANN), a watershed model (SWAT), a reservoir operation model(HEC-ResSim) and a hydrodynamic and water quality model (CE-QUAL-W2) is developed for projecting the effects of climate change on the reservoir water temperature and thermal stability. The results showed that increasing air temperature will cause higher epilimnion temperatures, earlier and more persistent thermal stratification, and increased thermal stability in the future. The Schmidt stability index used to evaluate the stratification strength showed tendency to increase, implying that the climate change may have considerable impacts on the water quality and ecosystem through changing the vertical mixing characteristics of the reservoir.

The applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are progressively adopting for various smart home services such as home automation, controlling smart home household appliances, constrained application services in a smart home, etc. However, enabling a seamless and ubiquitous WSN communication between the smart home appliances is still a challenging job. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a smart home control system using an Actuator based ZigBee networking (AZNET). The working of the proposed system is further divided into three phases, 1) an interference avoidance system is adopted to mitigate the effect of interference caused due to the co-existence of IEEE 802.11x based wireless local area networks (WLAN) and WSN, 2) a sensor-based smart light control system is used to fulfill the light requirement in the smart home using the sunlight with light source, and 3) an autonomous home management system is used to regulate the usage time of the electronic appliances in the smart home. The smart is tested in real time environment to use the sunlight with light sources in a various time of the day. Similarly, the performance of the proposed smart home is verified through simulation using C# programming language. The results and analysis revealed that the proposed smart home is less affected by the interference and efficient in reducing the energy consumption of the appliances available in the smart home scenario.
Austenite stainless steel was produced by arc welding with current 650A, voltage 50V and welding speed 10cm/min. It was post-welded and then heat treated at $1,050^{\circ}C$ for 120min. And then it was immersed in water or in air. The microstructural changes, ferrite contents, mechanical properties, and stress corrosion cracking(SCC) were investigated. The SCC was studied in 42wt% boiling $MgCl_2$($140^{\circ}C$) under the constant stress using SCC elongation curve. The results showed that; 1. The as-welded spedimen seemed to increase ${\delta}$-ferrite content largely, and revealed continuous network of lathy and vermicular type. The post-welded heat treatment changed the morphologies of ferrite from continuous type to island type. 2. The as-welded, air and water quenched specimens had the ${\delta}$-ferrite content 9.7%, 3.2% and 2.1% respectively. We also showed that ${\delta}$-ferrite was Cr-rich and Ni-poor by EPMA. 3. The time of failure on the SCC was measured and it was used for corrosion elongation curve. The condition of SCC was investigated under $35kgf/mm^2$ load and the results were as follows; 4. The intergranullar cracking by stress corrosion was most distinct in weld metal while the transgranular cracking occurred in the air cooled specimen.

Geographic routing has been considered as an efficient simple, and scalable routing protocol for wireless sensor networks since it exploits pure location information instead of global topology information to route data packets. Geographic routing requires the sources nodes to be aware of the location of the sinks. In this paper, we propose a scheme named Sink Location Service for geographic routing in wireless Sensor Networks, in which the source nodes can get and update the location of sinks with low overhead. In this scheme, a source and a sink send data announcement and query messages along two paths respectively by geographic routing. The node located on the crossing point of the two paths informs the source about the location of the sink. Then the source can send data packet to the sink by geographic routing. How to guarantee that these two paths have at least one crossing point in any irregular profile of sensor network is the challenge of this paper.

Using the data of three environmental monitoring sites in Pohang area(KME112, KME113, and KME114), statistical forecasting models of the daily maximum and mean values of PM10 have been developed. Since the distributions of the daily maximum and mean PM10 values are skewed, which are similar to the Weibull distribution, these values were log-transformed to increase prediction accuracy by approximating the normal distribution. Three statistical forecasting models, which are regression, neural networks(NN) and support vector regression(SVR), were built using the log-transformed response variables, i.e., log(max(PM10)) or log(mean (PM10)). Also, the forecasting models were validated by the measure of RMSE, CORR, and IOA for the model comparison and accuracy. The improvement rate of IOA before and after the log-transformation in the daily maximum PM10 prediction was 12.7% for the regression and 22.5% for NN. In particular, 42.7% was improved for SVR method. In the case of the daily mean PM10 prediction, IOA value was improved by 5.1% for regression, 6.5% for NN, and 6.3% for SVR method. As a conclusion, SVR method was found to be performed better than the other methods in the point of the model accuracy and fitness views.
Brain disorders such as epilepsy is a condition that affects an estimated 2.7 million Americans, 50,000,000 worldwide, approximately 200,000 new cases of epilepsy are diagnosed each year. Of the major chronic medical conditions, epilepsy is among the least understood. Scientists are conducting research to determine appropriate treatments, such as the use of drugs, vagus nerve stimulation, brain stimulation, and Peltier chip-based focal cooling. However, brain stimulation and Peltier chip-based stimulation processes cannot effectively stop seizures. This paper presents simulation of a novel heat enchanger network(HEN) technique designed to stop seizures by using a neural cooling probe to stop focal and spontaneous seizures by cooling the brain. The designed probe was composed of a U-shaped tube through which cold fluid flowed in order to reduce the temperature of the brain. The simulation results demonstrated that the neural probe could cool a 7 $mm^2$ area of the brain when the fluid was flowing atb a velocity of 0.55 m/s. It also showed that the neural cooling probe required 23 % less energy to produce cooling when compared to the Peltier chip-based cooling system.
When some sensors under Wireless Sensor Networks fail or become energy-exhausted, redundant mobile sensors might be moved to recover the sensing holes. Within rugged terrain where wheeled sensors are unsuitable, other type of mobile sensors, such as hopping sensors, are needed. In this paper, we address the problem of relocating hopping sensors to the detected sensing holes. Recent study for this work considered the relocation using the shortest path between clusters; however, the shortest path might be used repeatedly and create other sensing holes. In order to overcome the mentioned problem, we propose relocation schemes using the most disjointed paths or multi-paths. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes guarantee more balanced migration distributions of efficient sensors and higher movement success ratios of required sensors than those of the shortest path-based scheme.

Most roads in Korea are constructed through a riverside or among the mountains due to geographical characteristics, and composed of various connection roads and complex networks, which makes it susceptible to a fog, rainfall and snowfall and causes serious negligent accidents due to misperception of network while driving. This study amis at securing original technology to provide traffic information, utilizing the road surface by grafting LED and optical technology highly recognized in terms of energy efficiency recently onto ITS, thereby developing next-generation ITS service. To support the research development, H/W was developed and field test was conducted. In addition, the customer satisfaction survey towards equipment, an end product of this research development was also carried out to find out what it means to customers potentially.
The data centric storage (DCS) scheme is one of representative methods to efficiently store and maintain data generated in wireless sensor networks. In the DCS schemes, each node has the specified data range for storing data. This feature is highly vulnerable to the faults of nodes. In this paper, we propose a new recovery scheme for the lost data caused by the faults of nodes in DCS environments. The proposed scheme improves the accuracy of query results by recovering the lost data using the spatial continuity of physical data. To show the superiority of our proposed scheme, we simulate it in the DCS environments with the faults of nodes. In the result, our proposed scheme improves the accuracy by about 28% through about 2.5% additional energy consumption over the existing scheme.

In geographic routing for wireless sensor networks, sources need the location of sinks destined for delivering their data packets. Most of the existing geographic routing protocols merely assume that the sources can get the locations of sinks by some location service. How source nodes find out the location of sinks is not easy. In this paper, we propose a sink location dissemination scheme in geographic routing for wireless sensor networks. In this scheme, a source node and a sink node send sink location announcement and query messages along two paths respectively by geographic routing. The node located on the crossing point of the two paths informs the source about the sink location. Then the source can send data packet to the sink by geographic routing. How to guarantee that these two paths have at least one crossing point in any irregular profile of sensor network is the challenge of this paper Simulation results show that our protocol is significantly superior to other protocols in terms of energy consumption and control overhead.
