  • This paper describes the outboard NIU(Network Interface Unit) using microprocessor and the hardware and software of concentrator for constructing star typed LAN(Local Area Network) based on token ring method. The NIU adapter can adapter up to four parallel and serial typed terminals. Because it has PAD function on input output data, any type of terminals can be adapted. Since the concentrator has logical switching circuit which enables data to bypass the faulted NIU adapter, this network prevents communication break. When user transmits and receives data, the concentrator constructs star typed LAN which connct both transmitting and receiving sides. A s result, this network eliminated ring latency time in other NIU exculding transmitting and receiving NIU. So the throughput of this LAN is increased. Because this LAN system consists of several modultes according to it's function, the expansion of function or the modification of method is easy.

  • An edge detection is an very important area in image processing and computer vision, General edge detection methods (Robert mask, Sobel mask, Kirsh mask etc) are a good performance to detect step edge in a image but are no good performance to detect step edge in a noses image. We suggested a step edge detection method based on image information measure and neutral network. Using these essential properties of step edges, which are directional and structural and whose gray level distribution in neighborhood, as a input vector to the BP neutral network we get the good result of proposed algorithm. And also we get the satisfactory experimental result using rose image and cell images an experimental and analysing image.

  • JXTA technology is a set of open protocols that enable any connected device on the internet or MANET(Mobile Adhoc NETwork) to communicate in a P2P manner. In this paper, we present a JXTA-based smartphone collaborative application. For this, we define the core services and collaborative services necessary for a P2P network, and design proper protocols to support the services. The developed application provides the effective environment for group works in smartphones, supporting the various virtual workspaces. Since application supports the group works among users in close-range without relying on the mobile network, it could be very useful in various situations such as the disaster area.

  • As a core area of the new computing paradigm, the Ubiquitous Sensor Network Technology utilizes a wireless sensor networking which can be applied to the Context Information Monitoring System. When the technology is used in a poor user-environment for monitoring purposes, it can cost-effectively gather the context data on real-time basis, analyze the information gathered, effectively response to the user situation, and execute orders to create environmental factors desired by the user. This study structures a system able to monitor information in regards to a user-environment based on wireless-node sensor technology coupled with the Ubiquitous Sensor Network Technology. The proposed system requires a minimal collection of data without continuous monitoring. Monitoring periodically, it can sense the user-environment more efficiently than the existing monitoring technologies based on the wire-communication technology.

  • In this paper, we propose a black ice detection platform framework using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To overcome black ice problem, we introduce a real-time based early warning platform using CNN-based architecture, and furthermore, in order to enhance the accuracy of black ice detection, we apply a multi-scale dilation convolution feature fusion (MsDC-FF) technique. Then, we establish a specialized experimental platform by using a comprehensive dataset of thermal road black ice images for a training and evaluation purpose. Experimental results of a real-time black ice detection platform show the better performance of our proposed network model compared to conventional image segmentation models. Our proposed platform have achieved real-time segmentation of road black ice areas by deploying a road black ice area segmentation network on the edge device Jetson Nano devices. This approach in parallel using multi-scale dilated convolutions with different dilation rates had faster segmentation speeds due to its smaller model parameters. The proposed MsCD-FF Net(2) model had the fastest segmentation speed at 5.53 frame per second (FPS). Thereby encouraging safe driving for motorists and providing decision support for road surface management in the road traffic monitoring department.

  • In a networked control system (NCS), time delays which are larger than one sampling period can change the control period. As a result, it may cause system instability. This paper presents a control method for an NCS using the controller area network (CAN), where time delays arise in the control loop. Specifically, a simple yet efficient method is proposed to improve control performance in the presence of time delays. The proposed method, which can be regarded as a gain scheduling method, selects a suitable LQ control gain among several gains to deal with the problems due to the change of control period. It is found that the gain can be scheduled in terms of the relation between the gain and the sampling period, which is represented by first-order algebraic equations. The proposed method is evaluated with an inverted cart pendulum system where the actuator and sensors are connected through the CAN. Experiment results are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • This article presents spectrum sharing policy trends both overseas and domestically. The Federal Communications Commission recently adopted rules for the commercial use of a 150 MHz bandwidth at 3.55 to 3.7 GHz, which has been utilized for defense and satellite services. This frequency band for spectrum sharing is called the citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) band. In Europe, the related regimes for licensed shared access application at 2.3 to 2.4 GHz has been organized, and interface standardization for sharing frequency information has been completed. In Korea, efforts are being made to establish spectrum-sharing policies to improve the efficiency of the frequency utilization. This article also introduces both the IEEE 802 local area network/metropolitan area network and 3GPP standardization activities with regard to frequency sharing technologies. To effectively solve the spectrum-sharing problem in IEEE 802, standardization activities on the CBRS and the mid-band (3.7-24 GHz) are underway. 3GPP is currently developing the standardization of a licensed assisted access technology, which extends mobile communication services provided in the licensed band to unlicensed bands.

  • This paper suggests a TCP/IP-based remote data monitoring system, which combines PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) technologies. Wireless PDA devices are used for remote monitoring of wireless communication by continuously collecting remote device data transmitted from servers such as temperature, humidity and device status, and displaying them on mobile devices. Therefore, remote data monitoring systems that integrate wireless and wired services provide data collection adaptive to administrators and efficient identification of device status.

  • The fusion of Internet technology and applications with wireless communication provides a new business model and promises to extend the possibilities of commerce to what is popularly called mobile commerce, or m-commerce. In mobile Internet banking service through wireless local area network, security is a most important factor to consider. We describe the development of security service for mobile Internet banking on Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). Banking Server and Authentication Server were developed to simulate banking business and to support certificate management of authorized clients, respectively. To increase security, we took hybrid approach in implementation: symmetric block encryption and public-key encryption. Hash function and random number generation were exploited to generate a secret key. The data regarding banking service were encrypted with symmetric block encryption, RC4, and the random number sequence was done with public-key encryption. PDAs communicate through IEEE 802.IIb wireless LAN (Local Area Network) to access banking service. Several banking services and graphic user interfaces, which emulatedthe services of real bank, were developed to verity the working of each security service in PDA, the Banking Server, and the Authentication Server.
