  • ROK and the United States finally reached accord on the controversial transition of Wartime Operational Control on February, 2007, and ROK Government needs to strengthen the role of supporting for the comprehensive threats of futuristic warfare. The crucial point of the supporting for Military Operation depends on the nation's mobilization capabilities. For the effective mobilization the following facets can be improved further. First of all, the organizational integrity of the mobilization network within the government can be bolstered along the vertical command chain. The process of mobilization must be improved and it is import to utilize the information system. On the other side the government plan to distribute timely the mobilized resources must be made up for the weak points and developed continuously. We can expect these points to be improved steadily with the execution of the National Defence Reform 2020.

  • In this paper, Fuzzy Self-organizing Neural Networks(FSONN) based on Fuzzy Neural Networks(FNN) is proposed to overcome some problems, such as the conflict between ovefitting and good generation, and low reliability. The proposed FSONN consists of FNN and SONN. Here, FNN is used as the premise part of FSONN and SONN is the consequnt part of FSONN. The FUN plays the preceding role of FSONN. For the fuzzy reasoning and learning method in FNN, Simplified fuzzy reasoning and backpropagation learning rule are utilized. The number of layers and the number of nodes in each layers of SONN that is based on the GMDH method are not predetermined, unlike in the case of the popular multi layer perceptron structure and can be generated. Also the partial descriptions of nodes can use various forms such as linear, modified quadratic, cubic, high-order polynomial and so on. In this paper, the optimal design procedure of the proposed FSONN is shown in each step and performance index related to approximation and generalization capabilities of model is evaluated and also discussed.

  • In ad hoc networks, the neighbors of a transmitter often experience very different propagation and channel conditions, and therefore these neighbors will differ in their ability to recover information from a transmitted message. In this paper, the properties of a multiple routing scheme in ad hoc networks, based on a simulcast transmission that allocates randomly unequal transmission rates on multiple links according to the simulcast capabilities, are investigated.

  • Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDNs) and Broadband ISDN provide high speed data transmission capabilities and therefore, it is now possible to communicate with multimedia information including graphic, motion image, data and audio. Among several new services utilizing multimedia communication networks, distance education service which aims to overcome time and space restrictions between teachers and learners is now heavily focused in many countries. In this paper, several factors which affect to the effectiveness of distance education are surveyed and facilities for organizing distance education classrooms which utilize high speed multimedia communication network are studied in detail. Also, some points are suggested for organizing successful distance equation system based on the multimedia communication technology.

  • Recent developments in identity-based cryptography (IBC) have provided new solutions to problems related to the security of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Although many proposals to solve problems related to the security of MANETs are suggested by the research community, there is no one solution that fits all. The interdependency cycle between secure routing and security services makes the use of IBC in MANETs very challenging. In this paper, two novel methods are proposed to eliminate the need for this cycle. One of these methods utilizes a key pool to secure routes for the distribution of cryptographic materials, while the other adopts a pairing-based key agreement method. Furthermore, our proposed methods utilize threshold cryptography for shared secret and private key generation to eliminate the "single point of failure" and distribute cryptographic services among network nodes. These characteristics guarantee high levels of availability and scalability for the proposed methods. To illustrate the effectiveness and capabilities of the proposed methods, they are simulated and compared against the performance of existing methods.

  • We describe a research about remote control of mobile robot based on voice command in this paper. Through real-time remote control and wireless network capabilities of an unmanned remote-control experiments and Home Security / exercise with an unmanned robot, remote control and voice recognition and voice transmission are possible to transmit on a PC using a microphone to control a robot to pinpoint of the source. Speech recognition can be controlled robot by using a remote control. In this research, speech recognition speed and direction of self-driving robot were controlled by a wireless remote control in order to verify the performance of mobile robot with two drives.

  • The multilayer perceptron, trained by the error back-propagation learning rule, has been known as a mapping network which can represent arbitrary functions. However depending on the complexity of a function and the initial weights of the multilayer perceptron, the error back-propagation learning may fall into a local minimum or a flat area which may require a long learning time or lead to unsuccessful learning. To solve such difficulties in training the multilayer perceptron by standard error back-propagation learning rule, the paper proposes a learning method which progressively enlarges the learning domain from a small area to the entire region. The proposed method is devised from the investigation on the roles of hidden nodes and connection weights in the multilayer perceptron which approximates a function of one variable. The validity of the proposed method was illustrated through simulations for a function of one variable and a function of two variable with many extremal points.

  • This paper focuses on analyzing the modern warfare and weapon systems supported by improved GPS informations. The GPS capability was investigated through the real experimental test for verifying the most recent GPS features under its modernization processing. And then it was verified that such capabilities, accuracy and availability, of a typical L1, C/A code GPS receiver are equivalent to the military receiver's ones. It was also sure that the influence of GPS improved informations on NCW(Network-Centric Warfare), PGM(Precision Guided Munition) and C4SIR(Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) should be increased and the modern warfare may be strongly dependent on GNSS informations.

  • Today, many middle-sized shipbuilding companies in Korea are experiencing strong competition from shipbuilding companies in other nations. This competition is particularly affecting small- and middle-sized shipyards, rather than the major shipyards that have their own support systems and development capabilities. The acquisition of techniques that would enable maximization of production efficiency and minimization of the gap between planning and execution would increase the competitiveness of small- and middle-sized Korean shipyards. In this paper, research on a simulation-based support system for ship production management, which can be applied to the shipbuilding processes of middle-sized shipbuilding companies, is presented. The simulation research includes layout optimization, load balancing, work stage operation planning, block logistics, and integrated material management. Each item is integrated into a network system with a value chain that includes all shipbuilding processes.

  • Distributed control architecture is based on sharing control and data between multiple nodes on a network Communication and task sharing can be distributed between multiple control computers. Although many communication protocols exist, such as TCP/IP and UDP, they do not have the determinism that realtime control demands. Fiber-optic reflective shared memory creates the opportunity for realtime distributed control. This architecture allows control and computational tasks to be divided between multiple systems and operate in a deterministic realtime environment. One such shared memory architecture is based on Curtiss-Wright ScramNET family of fiber-optic reflective memory. MTS has built seismic and structural control software and hardware capable of utilizing ScramNET shared memory, opening up infinite possibilities in research and new capabilities in Hybrid and Model-In-The-Loop control.
