Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology used to identify the physical objects and get information about the object on which the tag attaches from network. It is expected that RFID will lead IT market from human-oriented to object-oriented. Therefore, RFID technology and services will become wide-spread. But the system of RFID naming service is quite similar to the existing DNS facilities. So it has many weak points against to DDos attack. Furthermore if the MDS server Is under attack, there might be trouble of total RFID networks. In this paper, we propose a new detecting model to find attack traffic at local routers by using Management Information Base (MIB) which is optimized for RFID MDS server.

The advanced computer network and Internet technology enables connectivity of computers through an open network environment. Despite the growing numbers of security threats to networks, most intrusion detection identifies security attacks mainly by detecting misuse using a set of rules based on past hacking patterns. This pattern matching has a high rate of false positives and can not detect new hacking patterns, making it vulnerable to previously unidentified attack patterns and variations in attack and increasing false negatives. Intrusion detection and prevention technologies are thus required. We proposed a network based hybrid Probe Intrusion Detection model using Fuzzy cognitive maps (PIDuF) that detects intrusion by DoS (DDoS and PDoS) attack detection using packet analysis. A DoS attack typically appears as a probe and SYN flooding attack. SYN flooding using FCM model captures and analyzes packet information to detect SYN flooding attacks. Using the result of decision module analysis, which used FCM, the decision module measures the degree of danger of the DoS and trains the response module to deal with attacks. For the performance evaluation, the "IDS Evaluation Data Set" created by MIT was used. From the simulation we obtained the max-average true positive rate of 97.064% and the max-average false negative rate of 2.936%. The true positive error rate of the PIDuF is similar to that of Bernhard's true positive error rate.

Network security situational awareness systems helps in better managing the security concerns of a network, by monitoring for any anomalies in the network connections and recommending remedial actions upon detecting an attack. An Intrusion Detection System helps in identifying the security concerns of a network, by monitoring for any anomalies in the network connections. We have proposed a CRF based IDS system using genetic search feature selection algorithm for network security situational awareness to detect any anomalies in the network. The conditional random fields being discriminative models are capable of directly modeling the conditional probabilities rather than joint probabilities there by achieving better classification accuracy. The genetic search feature selection algorithm is capable of identifying the optimal subset among the features based on the best population of features associated with the target class. The proposed system, when trained and tested on the bench mark NSL-KDD dataset exhibited higher accuracy in identifying an attack and also classifying the attack category.
A flooding attack, such as DoS or Worm, can be easily created or even downloaded from the Internet, thus, it is one of the main threats to servers on the Internet. This paper presents an online real-time network response system, which can determine whether a LAN is suffering from a flooding attack within a very short time unit. The detection engine of the system is based on the incremental mining of fuzzy association rules from network packets, in which membership functions of fuzzy variables are optimized by a genetic algorithm. The incremental mining approach makes the system suitable for detecting, and thus, responding to an attack in real-time. This system is evaluated by 47 flooding attacks, only one of which is missed, with no false positives occurring. The proposed online system belongs to anomaly detection, not misuse detection. Moreover, a mechanism for dynamic firewall updating is embedded in the proposed system for the function of eliminating suspicious connections when necessary.

The attack trend on end-users via mobile devices is increasing in both the danger level and the number of attacks. Especially, mobile devices using the Android operating system are being recognized as increasingly being exploited and attacked strongly. In addition, one of the recent attack methods on the Android operating system is to take advantage of Android Package Kit (APK) files. Therefore, the problem of early detecting and warning attacks on mobile devices using the Android operating system through the APK file is very necessary today. This paper proposes to use the method of analyzing abnormal behavior of APK files and use it as a basis to conclude about signs of malware attacking the Android operating system. In order to achieve this purpose, we propose 2 main tasks: i) analyzing and extracting abnormal behavior of APK files; ii) detecting malware in APK files based on behavior analysis techniques using machine learning or deep learning algorithms. The difference between our research and other related studies is that instead of focusing on analyzing and extracting typical features of APK files, we will try to analyze and enumerate all the features of the APK file as the basis for classifying malicious APK files and clean APK files.

Nowadays, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on web sites reward attackers financially or politically because our daily lifes tightly depends on web services such as on-line banking, e-mail, and e-commerce. One of DDoS attacks to web servers is called HTTP-GET flood attack which is becoming more serious. Most existing techniques are running on the application layer because these attack packets use legitimate network protocols and HTTP payloads; that is, network-level intrusion detection systems cannot distinguish legitimate HTTP-GET requests and malicious requests. In this paper, we propose a practical detection technique against HTTP-GET flood attacks, based on the access behavior of inline objects in a webpage using NetFlow data. In particular, our proposed scheme is working on the network layer without any application-specific deep packet inspections. We implement the proposed detection technique and evaluate the ability of attack detection on a simple test environment using NetBot attacker. Moreover, we also show that our approach must be applicable to real field by showing the test profile captured on a well-known e-commerce site. The results show that our technique can detect the HTTP-GET flood attack effectively.

This paper proposes a technique for detecting a significant threat that attempts to get sensitive and confidential information such as usernames, passwords, credit card information, and more to target an individual or organization. By definition, a phishing attack happens when malicious people pose as trusted entities to fraudulently obtain user data. Phishing is classified as a type of social engineering attack. For a phishing attack to happen, a victim must be convinced to open an email or a direct message [1]. The email or direct message will contain a link that the victim will be required to click on. The aim of the attack is usually to install malicious software or to freeze a system. In other instances, the attackers will threaten to reveal sensitive information obtained from the victim. Phishing attacks can have devastating effects on the victim. Sensitive and confidential information can find its way into the hands of malicious people. Another devastating effect of phishing attacks is identity theft [1]. Attackers may impersonate the victim to make unauthorized purchases. Victims also complain of loss of funds when attackers access their credit card information. The proposed method has two major subsystems: (1) Data collection: different websites have been collected as a big data corresponding to normal and phishing dataset, and (2) distributed detection system: different artificial algorithms are used: a neural network algorithm and machine learning. The Amazon cloud was used for running the cluster with different cores of machines. The experiment results of the proposed system achieved very good accuracy and detection rate as well.

Several network attacks, such as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, present a very serious threat to the stability of the internet. The threat posed by network attacks on large networks, such as the internet, demands effective detection method. Therefore, a simple intrusion detection system on large-scale backbone network is needed for the sake of real-time detection, preemption and detection efficiency. In this paper, in order to discriminate attack traffic from legitimate traffic on backbone links, we suggest a relatively simple statistical measure, entropy, which can track value frequency. Den is conspicuous distinction of entropy values between attack traffic and legitimate traffic. Therefore, we can identify what kind of attack it is as well as detecting the attack traffic using entropy value.

This paper proposes an ETWAD(Encapsulation and Tunneling Wormhole Attack Detection) design based on positional information and hop count on Ad-Hoc Network. The ETWAD technique is designed for generating GAK(Group Authentication Key) to ascertain the node ID and group key within Ad-hoc Network and authenticating a member of Ad-hoc Network by appending it to RREQ and RREP. In addition, A GeoWAD algorithm detecting Encapsulation and Tunneling Wormhole Attack by using a hop count about the number of Hops within RREP message and a critical value about the distance between a source node S and a destination node D is also presented in ETWAD technique. Therefore, as this paper is estimated as the average probability of Wormhole Attack detection 91%and average FPR 4.4%, it improves the reliability and probability of Wormhole Attack Detection.

With the global rise of digital data, the uncontrolled quantity of data is susceptible to cyber warfare or cyber attacks. Therefore, it is necessary to improve cyber security systems. This research studies the behavior of malicious acts and uses Higuchi Fractal Dimension (HFD), which is a non-linear mathematical method to examine the intricacy of the behavior of these malicious acts and anomalies within the cyber physical system. The HFD algorithm was tested successfully using synthetic time series network data and validated on real-time network data, producing accurate results. It was found that the highest fractal dimension value was computed from the DoS attack time series data. Furthermore, the difference in the HFD values between the DoS attack data and the normal traffic data was the highest. The malicious network data and the non-malicious network data were successfully classified using the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) method in conjunction with a scaling stationary index that helps to boost the ROC technique in classifying normal and malicious traffic. Hence, the suggested methodology may be utilized to rapidly detect the existence of abnormalities in traffic with the aim of further using other methods of cyber-attack detection.
