Characteristics of needle morphology and anatomy were examined in 14 populations of Abies nephrolepis (Trautv.) Maxim. and A. koreana Wilson. Additionally we studied the classification index to distinguish between the species by the method of discriminant analysis. Characteristics of needle for A. nephrolepis could be distinguished from those for A. koreana by flatten arrangement, thin and long length for needle form, many stomata row, and marginal position of resin duct Nested ANOVA showed that there were statistically significant differences among populations as well as among individuals within populations in all 9 needle traits. For the needle indices such as needle thickness, number of stomata row, and the distance between resin duct and vascular for both species, variance components among populations were larger than those among individuals within populations. The characteristics that contributed most to the separation of A. nephrolepis and A. koreana according to the discriminant analysis using stepdisc procedures were needle index and thickness of needle, needle arrangement index, distance between resin duct and vascular, and number of stomata row.
Objectives : High-normal blood pressure' is a factor influencing decision to initiate targeted intensive intervention strategy in westernized populations. JNC-VI offered the vigorous lifestyle modification for persons with 'high-normal blood pressure', who could be early detected. As a hypertension seems to be the result of multiple genetic factors operating in concert with associated environmental factors, it will be necessary to identify the high-normal blood pressure as a risk factor of hypertension for applying primary prevention strategy in Korean people. Methods : Although cohort study design might be adequate to recruit incidence cases, to keep time sequence of events, and to prevent information bias, nested case-control study was chosen for avoiding measurement errors because hypertension is a benign disease. Source population was the 'Seoul Cohort' participants and follow-up was done by using Korea Medical Insurance Corporation's database on the utilization of health services from 1 Jan93 to 30Jun97. Incidence cases were ascertained through the chart review, telephone contacts, and direct blood pressure measurements. Controls included the pairing of 4 individuals to each case on the basis of age. Results : As 75% of 247 incident cases had high-normal blood pressure, the crude odds ratio for hypertension was 2.04 (95% CI 1.47-2.83). Another statistically significant risk factors of hypertension were body mass index, dietary fiber, alcohol consumption, weekly activity and history of quitting smoking. The multivariate odds ratio of high-normal blood pressure adjusted for all risk factors was 1.84 (95% CI 1.31-2.56). Among high-normal blood pressure group, body mass index, weekly ethanol amounts, weekly physical activity, and dietary fiber except history of quitting smoking were still risk factors of hypertension. Conclusion : 'High-normal blood pressure' is a risk factor for hypertension in Korean middle-aged men, which represents that the vigorous lifestyle modification for persons with 'high-normal blood pressure' is need.
User interface has been regarded as a crucial issue to increase the acceptance of mobile services. In special, even though to what extent the machine as speaker communicates with human as listener in a timely and polite manner is important, fundamental studies to come up with these issues have been very rare. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology of estimating politeness level in a certain context-aware setting and then to design a context-aware system for polite mobile interface. We will focus on Korean language for the polite level estimation simply because the polite interface would highly depend on cultural and linguistic characteristics. Nested Minkowski aggregation model, which amends Minkowski aggregation model, is adopted as a privacy-preserving similarity evaluation for case retrieval under distributed computing environment such as ubiquitous computing environment. To show the feasibility of the methodology proposed in this paper, simulation-based experiment with drama cases has performed to show the performance of the methodology proposed in this paper.

This paper describes a high PSRR low-dropout(LDO) linear regulator for wide frequency range without output-capacitor. Owing to both of the cascode compensation technique and the current buffer compensation technique in nested Miller compensation loop, the proposed LDO not only maintaines high stability but also achieves high PSRR over wide frequency range with reasonable on-chip capacitances. Since the external capacitor is removed by the proposed compensation techniques, the cost for pad is eliminated. The designed LDO works under the input voltage range from 2.5V to 4.5V and provides up to 10mA load current with the output voltage of 1.8V. The LDO was implemented with 0.18um CMOS technology and the area is 300um X 120 um. The measured power supply rejection ratio(PSRR) is -76dB and -43dB at DC and 1MHz, respectively. The operating current is 25uA.
The negative direct-maternal genetic correlation $(r_{dm})$ for weaning weight is inflated when data are analyzed with model ignoring sire-by-year interactions (SY). An analytical study investigating the consequences of ignoring SY was undertaken. The inflation of negative correlation could be due to a functional relationship of design matrices for additive direct and maternal genetic effects to that for sire effects within which SY effects were nested. It was proven that the maternal genetic variance was inflated by the amount of reduction for sire variance; the direct genetic variance was inflated by four times the change for maternal genetic variance; and the direct-maternal genetic covariance was deflated by twice the change for maternal genetic variance. The findings were agreed to the results in previous studies.

Recently, side scan sonar system has been developed and operated to survey cable laying, sunken bodies, geometry of sea bottom and so on. It uses the acoustic signals, which are emitted from two transducer arrays, left and right sides, to get geometric information of the specified area. This system consists of transceiver board, towed body, deck unit and GPS receiver. The transceiver board, nested in a watertight canister, controls the transmitting and receiving of the acoustic pulses from transducer arrays. After receiving the scattered signals, it processes BP(Band Pass) filtering, AGC(Automatic Gain Control), TVG(Time Varying Gain) and Heterodyne. The deck init has the signal processing part, A/D converter, power supplier, and real-time monitoring part. The towed body has been designed to satisfy the optimal hydrodynamic behavior during towing, In this paper, brief introductions on the design theory of transceiving part and some results from the field which have been operated recently will be introduced.

In this paper, a simple parallel compiler using of Parafrase II is presented. This is a new general method the extracting parallelism in order to parallel processing effectively in nested loop. For this, the source program of Parafrase II parallel compiler is analyzed and implemented. Moreover, this method can be applicable where the dependency relation is both uniform and non-uniform in distance.

In practical control systems, the capacity of actuators is limited and this degrades the system performances and it is often a source of instability. To use full capacity of actuators, we adopt the gain scheduled control permitting the over saturation in controls. The basic idea of gain scheduled control is to use a higher gain control when the state variables are smaller and a lower gain control when the state variables are larger. First, we derive a constant H control and a reachable set while satisfying the degree of over saturation. Next, we divide this set into nested subsets and find $H_{\infty}$ controls at rack subsets while satisfying the degree of over saturation. Finally, the control gain is applied according to the status of states. Note that all procedures are done by solving linear matrix inequalities(LMI). Finally, we show the validity and applicability of our proposed control using the simulations of a six-story building subjected to the earthquake excitation.
UDDI is the open standard for distributed Web-based registry standard which supports registrations and discoveries of Web services. Recently, UDDI version 3.0 specifications were opened by OASIS UDDI Spec, technical committee. UDDI version 3.0 supports many useful functions, which are not supported in version 2.0 specification, such as nested query, enhanced find qualifiers, digital signatures subscription, etc. Despite of its merits, complexity of the standard and backward-compatibility support makes it difficult to adopt this standard in real application domains. In this paper, we develop the Registry server which support UDDI version 3.0 standard. This server is based on common RDBMS and it supports all functions of UDDI version 3.0 including backward-compatibility with version 2.0 API, XML digital signature and URI- based key schemes.
