We report a positive exchange bias (HE) in thinmultilayered filmscontaining nano-oxide layer. The positive HE, obtained for our system results from an antiferromagnetic coupling between the ferromagnetic (FM) CoFe and the antiferromagnetic (AFM) CoO layers, which spontaneously form on top of the nano-oxide layer (NOL). The shift in the hysteresis loop along the direction of thecooling field and the change in the sign of exchange bias are evidence of antiferromagnetic interfacial exchange coupling between the CoO and CoFe layers. Our calculation indicates that uncompensated oxygen moments in the NOL results in antiferromagnetic interfacial exchange coupling between the CoO and CoFe layers. One of the interesting features observed with our system is that it displays the positive HE even above the bulk Neel temperature (TN) of CoO. Although the positive HEsystem has a different AFM/FM interfacial spin structure compare to that of the negative HE one, the results of the angular dependence measurements show that the magnetization reversal mechanism can be considered within the framework of the coherent rotation model.

In this paper, the low-phase dual-band VCO, by adding switching circuit with PIN diode at feedback loop of the oscillation part having negative-resistance, is realized. In order to reduce the phase noise of the VCO, PBG structure applied to the ground plane of the resonator. When applying for PBG structure, output power is -9.17㏈m and phase noise is -102㏈c/Hz at 5.25㎓, output power is -5.17㏈m and phase noise is -101㏈c/Hz at 1.8㎓, respectively.
An interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is receiving increased attention for many industrial applications because of its high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density, and high efficiency. IPMSM is necessary to use the accurate information of the inductance for the precise torque control owing to the reluctance torque. This paper presents two method to measure the each-axis Inductance. The first method uses the peak current that is measured by applying the pulsewise voltage on the each position of IPMSM. The second uses the hysteresis loop of the flux and current measured by applying the positive and negative pulsewise voltage alternately on the each-axis.
This paper presents an improved current control strategy for a three-phase grid-connected inverter under distorted grid conditions. Distorted grid condition is undesirable due to negative effects such as power losses and heating problem in electrical equipments. To enhance the power quality of distributed generation systems under such a condition, a modulated finite control set - model predictive control (MFCS-MPC) scheme will be proposed, in which the optimal switching signals of inverter are chosen by online basis using the principle of current error minimization. In addition, the moving average filter (MAF) is used to improve the phase-lock loop in order to obtain the harmonic-free reference currents on the stationary frame. The usefulness of the proposed MFCS-MPC method is proved by the comparative simulation results under different operating conditions.
IPMSM is necessary to use the accurate values of the inductance for the precise torque control, because of using the reluctance torque of the IPM. This paper presents method to uses the hysteresis loop inclination of the flux and current measured by applying the positive and negative voltage pulse alternately on the each-axis. Moreover, presents algorithm for speed sensorless control based on parameter identification and instantaneous reactive power.

Change of magnetic properties in CoCrPt/Ti perpendicular media with varying CoCrPt films thickness has been studied. As CoCrPt films thickness increase, the Ms(magnetization saturation) drastically increases at thinner thickness and gradually increases with further increase in thickness from 25nm. This Ms behaviour is associated with primarily the formation of "amorphous-like" reacted layer by intermixing of CoCrPt and Ti at CoCrPt/Ti interface and secondarily change of Cr segregation mode with varying the CoCrPt films thickness. Magnetic domain structure distinctively changes with increasing CoCrPt magnetic layer(ML) thickness. Also the strength of exchange coupling measured from the slope in demagnetizing region in M-H loop changes with ML thickness. Details of the above magnetic properties will be discussed. The expansion of lattice parameters a and c at thinner thickness suggests that Cr segregation mode may be connected with the residual stress of the films. Finally, negative nucleation field(Hn) behaviour with the exchange slope will be reported.
In a three-phase system, three-phase AC signals can be translated into two-phase DC signals through a coordinate transformation. Thus, the PI regulator can realize a zero steady-state error for the DC signals. In the control of a three-phase grid-connected inverter, the phase angle of grid is normally detected by a phase-locked loop (PLL) and takes part in a coordinate transformation. A novel control strategy for a three-phase grid-connected inverter with a frequency-locked loop (FLL) based on coordinate transformation is proposed in this paper. The inverter is controlled as a current supply. The grid angle, which takes part in the coordinate transformation, is replaced by a periodic linear changing angle from $-{\pi}$ to ${\pi}$. The changing angle has the same frequency but a different phase than the grid angle. The frequency of the changing angle tracks the grid frequency by the negative feedback of the reactive power, which forms a FLL. The control strategy applies to non-ideal grids and it is a lot simpler than the control strategies with a PLL that are applied to non-ideal grids. The structure of the FLL is established. The principle and advantages of the proposed control strategy are discussed. The theoretical analysis is confirmed by experimental results.

This study presents an initial design for a novel system consisting in a coupled nuclear reactor and a phase change material-based thermal energy storage (TES) component, which acts as a buffer and regulator of heat transfer between the primary and secondary loops. The goal of this concept is to enhance the capacity factor of nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the case of high integration of renewable energy sources into the electric grid. Hence, this system could support in elevating the economics of NPPs in current competitive markets, especially with subsidized solar and wind energy sources, and relatively low oil and gas prices. Furthermore, utilizing a prismatic-core advanced high temperature reactor (PAHTR) cooled by a molten salt with a high melting point, have the potential in increasing the system efficiency due to its high operating temperature, and providing the baseline requirements for coupling other process heat applications. The present research studies the neutronics and thermal hydraulics (TH) of the PAHTR as well as TH calculations for the TES which consists of 300 blocks with a total heat storage capacity of 150 MWd. SERPENT Monte Carlo and MCNP5 codes carried out the neutronics analysis of the PAHTR which is sized to have a 5-year refueling cycle and rated power of 300 MWth. The PAHTR has 10 metric tons of heavy metal with 19.75 wt% enriched UO2 TRISO fuel, a hot clean excess reactivity and shutdown margin of $33.70 and -$115.68; respectively, negative temperature feedback coefficients, and an axial flux peaking factor of 1.68. Star-CCM + code predicted the correct convective heat transfer coefficient variations for both the reactor and the storage. TH analysis results show that the flow in the primary loop (in the reactor and TES) remains in the developing mixed convection regime while it reaches a fully developed flow in the secondary loop.
An investigation on thermohydraulic stability of flow oscillations in the CANada Deuterium Uranium-600(CANDU-6) heat transport system has been conducted. Flow oscillations in reactor coolant loops, comprising two heat sources and two heat sinks in series, are possibly caused by the response of the pressure to extraction of fluid in two-phase region. This response consists of two contributions, one arising from mass and another from enthalpy change in the two-phase region. The system computer code used in the investigation os SOPHT, which is capable of simulating steady states as well as transients with varying boundary conditions. The model was derived by linearizing and solving one-dimensional, homogeneous single- and two-phase flow conservation equations. The mass, energy and momentum equations with boundary conditions are set up throughout the system in matrix form based on a node-link structure. Loop stability was studied under full power conditions with interconnecting the two compressible two phase regions in the figure-of-eight circuit. The dominant function of the interconnecting pipe is the transfer of mass between the two-phase regions. Parametric survey of loop stability characteristics, i. e., damping ratio and period, has been made as a function of geometrical parameters of the interconnection line such as diameter, length, height and orifice flow coefficient. The stability characteristics with interconnection line has been clarified to provide a simple criterion to be used as a guide in scaling of the pipe.

Mitochondrial DNA haplotypes from the displacement-loop (D-loop) region (436 bp) were genotyped and sequenced in Japanese Black beef cattle raised in the same herd. Correlation coefficients between mitochondrial DNA haplotypes, maternal lineage, birth weight, preweaning average daily gain, weaning weight, post weaning average daily gain and yearling weight were computed. The objective was to study the relationship between maternal and postnatal growth traits and to investigate if postnatal growth of calves to yearling age could be accurately predicted from mitochondrial DNA haplotypes. Results of the phylogenetic analysis revealed 17 maternal lineages and four mitochondrial DNA haplotypes. There were strong, positive and highly significant (p<0.001) correlations among maternal traits ranging from 0.52 to 0.98. Similarly, among postnatal growth traits, most of the correlations were also strong, positive and highly significant (p<0.001); the highest correlation of 0.94 was between preweaning average daily gain and weaning weight. However, correlations between mitochondrial DNA haplotypes and postnatal growth traits were very low, mostly negative and non-significant (p>0.05) ranging from -0.05 to 0.1. Prediction of postnatal growth from mitochondrial DNA yielded very low $R^{2}$ values ranging from 0.002 to 0.019. It was concluded that mitochondrial DNA polymorphism has no significant association with postnatal growth from birth to yearling age, and by implication, nuclear rather than cytoplasmic DNA, accounts for most of the genetic variation observed in postnatal growth of Japanese Black cattle. Therefore, mitochondrial DNA genotyping at an early age has no bearing on the accurate prediction of the future growth performance of calves.
