This study was conducted to obtain granular crystalline gypsum that can be used as raw material for plaster boards or cements from waste Plaster board. We could disintegrate preferentially gypsum to gypsum needle in 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ or less size among the contents of waste plaster board (gypsum, paper, fiber, and inorganic material .etc.) by hydration afterwards the dehydration of crushed waste plaster board. In this case, the optimum conditions for minimizing the size of gypsum were dehydration rate of 75%~ 85%, hydration concentration of 10~20%, agitation speed of 250~400rpm, crushing size of 2cm or less. Gypsum of 98.21% grade was recovered with 99.0% yield from under screenings of 325mesh wet screening which followed by the dehydration-hydration process performed in the conditions of dehydration rate of 80%, hydration concentration of 15%, agitation speed of 300rpm, crushing size of 2cm or less. Subsequently, Plate-like Crystalline gypsum of is 151${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size and the grade of 99.49% with the Yield of 98.0% from the upper screenings of 270mesh wet screening carried out after the re-crystallization of the recovered gypsum needle slurry.
Space and time resolved discharge images from an atmospheric pressure non-thermal Ar plasma jet have been observed by a ICCD camera to investigate the electron temperatures. Plasma jet device consisting of a syringe electrode inserted into a glass tube has been introduced. A high voltage is applied to the syringe electrode. The syringe needle has an outer diameter of 1.8 mm, an inner diameter of 1.3 mm, and a total length of 39.0 mm. The needle is inserted into a glass tube of outer diameter 2.4 mm and inner diameter 2.0 mm, and a total length of 80.0 mm. The Ar plasma propagation speed on the cathode has been shown to be about 2.1 km/s at input discharge voltage of 3.6 kV, discharge current of 19.9 mA and driving frequency of about 45 kHz. Particularly, the electron temperature in plasma jet were found to be about 1.8 eV at input discharge voltage of 3.6 kV and driving frequency of 45 kHz, respectively.
To verify the possibility of using resistograph to estimate the age of big old living trees, we selected three Zelkova serrata and seven Pinus densiflora in Goesan. The mean diameters at breast height of Z. serrata and P. densiflora were 102 (92-116) cm and 80 (65-110) cm, respectively. The heights measured from the ground using a resistograph ranged at 1.2-4.3 m and 0.6-1.1 m for Z. serrata and P. Densiflora, respectively. The most appropriate needle speed to determine tree-ring boundaries for measuring ring width was 1500 r/min for both tree species. Alternatively, the suitable feed speeds for Z. serrata and P. densiflora were 50 cm/min and 150 cm/min, respectively. From the measured data, the mean numbers of tree rings of Z. serrata and P. densiflora were 57 (43-68) and 104 (93-124), respectively, and the mean tree-ring widths were 4.27 mm (3.18-5.09 mm) and 2.93 mm (2.32-3.34 mm), respectively. A comparison between the time series of tree-ring widths by resistograph and that from the local master chronologies tallied for the heartwood part. Finally, this study showed that resistograph can be used to estimate tree ages when a local master chronology is available.
During high speed sewing, the needle thread is exposed to dynamic loading, short strike loading, inertia forces, friction, rubbing, force of check spring, bending, pressure, friction, impact, shock and thermal influence. The dynamic thread loading/tension alters throughout the stitch formation cycle and along its passage through the machine. The greatest tensile force occurs at the moment of stitch stretching, when the take up lever pulls for required thread length through the tension regulator. These stresses act on the thread repeatedly and the thread passes 50-80 times through the fabric, the needle eye and the bobbin case mechanism, before getting incorporated into the seam, which result in upto 40% loss in tensile strength of the sewing thread. This damage in the sewing thread adversely affects its processing and functional performance. In this paper, the contribution of dynamic loading, passage through needle and fabric, and bobbin thread interaction in the loss in tensile properties has been studied. It is observed that the loss in tensile properties occurs mainly due to the bobbin thread interaction. Dynamic loading due to the action of take up lever also causes substantial loss in tenacity and breaking elongation of cotton threads.
Compression molding was specifically developed for replacement of metal components with composites. As the mechanical properties of the products are dependent on the separation and orientation, it is important to research the fiber mat structure and molding conditions. In this study, the effects of the fiber mat structure(NP: 5, 10, 25punches/$\textrm{cm}^2$) and the mold closure speed($\dot{\textrm{h}}$=0.1, 1, 10mm/min) on the viscosity of composites were discussed. The composites is treated as a Non-Newtonian power-law fluid. The parallel-plate plastometer is used and the viscosity is obtained from the relationship between the compression load and the thickness of the specimen.
Most diesel injector, which is currently used in high-pressure common rail fuel injection system of diesel engine, is driven by the solenoid coil energy for its needle movement. The main disadvantage of this solenoid-driven injector is a high power consumption, high power loss through solenoid coil and relatively fixed needle response's problem. In this study, a prototype piezo-driven injector, as a new injector mechanism driven by piezoelectric energy based on the concept of inverse piezo-electric effect, has been designed and fabricated to know the effect of piezo-driven injection processes on the diesel spray structure and internal nozzle flow. Firstly we investigated the spray characteristics in a constant volume chamber pressurized by nitrogen gas using the back diffusion light illumination method for high-speed temporal photography and also analyzed the inside nozzle flow by a fully transient simulation with cavitation model using VOF(volume of fraction) method. The numerical calculation has been performed to simulate the cavitating flow of 3-dimensional real size single hole nozzle along the injection duration. Results were compared between a conventional solenoid-driven injector and piezo-driven injector, both equipped with the same micro-sac multi-hole injection nozzle. The experimental results show that the piezo-driven injector has short injection delay and a faster spray development and produces higher injection velocity than the solenoid-driven injector. And the predicted simulation results with the degree of cavitation's generation inside nozzle for faster needle response In a piezo-driven injector were reflected to spray development in agreement with the experimental spray images.
The impact and spreading behaviors of silicon dioxide nanoparticle colloidal suspension droplets were quantitatively visualized using a high-speed imaging system. Millimeter-scale droplets were generated by a syringe pump and a needle. Droplets of different velocity were impacted on a non-porous solid surface. Images were consecutively recorded using a CMOS high-speed camera at 5000 fps (frames per second) for millimeter-scale droplets. Temporal variations of droplet diameter, velocity and maximum spreading diameters were evaluated from the sequential images captured for each experimental condition. Effects of Reynolds number, Weber number, and particle concentration were investigated experimentally.
A new speed improvement method for quantitative superimposed EMG signal analysis to diagnose the neuromuscular dysfunction is described. The improvement is achieved through the use of efficient software and hardware signal processing techniques. The software approch is composed of the MANDF filter and HRWA algorithm which provides the optimal set and time delays of-selected templates. The hardware employs a TMS32OC25 DSP chip to execute the intensive calculation part. The purposed method is verified through a simulation with real templates which are obtained from needle EMG. As a results, the proposed method provides an overall speed improvement of 32-40 times.
Tattooing is a performance for decorative and cosmetic marking by placing permanent ink into the skin. As the cultural meaning of tattoo in Korea is changing, the tattoo machines are widely spread n permanent cosmetic market. Though the use of the tattoo machine was increased, the evaluation standards of tattoo machine were not existed. Korea Food and Drug Association regulated the electrical and mechanical safety standards which were founded on the IEC 601-1 second edition. Also they regulated he biological safety standards which were derived from the ISO 10993 series, however, these general valuations of common medical device were insufficient for evaluating tattoo machine. We developed the standards of tattoo machine for safety and performance evaluation for tattoo machine by preliminary hazard analysis in ISO 14971. The evaluation criteria of tattoo machines are focused on the mechanical invasion. We suggested the additional evaluation items of the needle speed, length, vibration with general valuation criteria of common medical device. We anticipate that this research may be a primary stage to figure a standard regulation and evaluation for tattoo machine.
