Characterization of optical waveguides with near - field scanning optical microscope (근접장 주사 광학현미경을 이용한 광 도파로 특성 연구)

  • The propagation characteristic of an optical waveguide was investigated by measuring with a near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM) the evanescent field formed at the neighbor of its core-cladding interface. For this purpose, the NSOM system was developed specially as a form of Photon scanning tunneling microscope. The evanescent field distributions of several channel waveguides were measured at the wavelength of 1550 ㎚, and the usefulness of the system was verified by comparing experimental results with simulation results. In particular, the interference phenomena of the guided modes during their propagation along a multimode channel waveguide could be observed directly from the measured evanescent field distribution.

  • In this paper, the dual parabolic cylindrical reflector systems are analyzed as the reflector system for the CATR(Compact Antenna Test Range) facility. The near-field at the test zone of the CATR is calculated by using the PO(Physical Optics) approximation. The CATR has to provide an uniform plane wave with the minimum amplitude and phase ripple and the low cross polarization. Therefore, in this paper, the near-field pattern are calculated, and the ripple and taper of the field and the cross polarization are investigated with the position of the subreflector and the test region. It is confirmed that the analysis results can be used for the design of the CATR with the dual parabolic cylindrical reflector.

  • The feasibility of small linear antenna for near range wireless communications was studied. The requirement of the system are frequency range 9∼12 MHz and antenna size 15 cm. The communication range is about 15 m. The antenna input impedance is very small radiation resistance and very large capacitive reactance. The lossless impedance matching is nearly impossible, therefore lossy matching is considered. The antenna has very low radiation efficiency. The near field calculation has a large uncertainty, but the results can be used as the guideline of a small linear antenna system for a near range wireless communication.

Prototyping a NFC based TCG and its Convenience Analysis (NFC 기반의 TCG 프로토타입 개발과 편의성 분석)

  • In this paper, we developed a board game prototype, which is a trading card game (TCG) based on near field communication (NFC), in order to compare the convenience between an analog style board game and its corresponding digitalized board game based on NFC. Especially we try to maintain the advantages of an analog style board game such as social fellowship and communication skill in developing its corresponding digitalized TCG game. 20 players participated in our experiments, and each team consists of 2 payers. After they play an analog card game and its corresponding digitalized card game, they answer our survey questionnaires. We can confirm that the NFC TCG offers more convenience to players than its corresponding analog card game according to survey results.

  • A shielding effectiveness of mesh screen filter of plasma display panel (PDP) has been calculated in this paper. Since the screen filter is located near the radiation source, the near field wave impedance of the radiation source, i.e., the PDP electrodes, has been considered to calculate the shielding effectiveness. The near field shielding effectiveness of screen filter at 30${\sim}$300 MHz has been estimated to be more than 65${\sim}$80 dB. The measured shielding effectiveness of screen filter is 10${\sim}$50 dB at 30${\sim}$300 MHz[1]. The resulting discrepancy indicates that there are other EMI emission sources such as emission from PCB and cable besides the PDP electrodes.

  • This paper proposes a Near Field Communication (NFC) communication system that exchanges information of digital business cards efficiently for many to many communication to solve inconvenience of one-to-one communication when people exchanges business cards each other in meetings such as conference, forum, seminar. The proposed system can provide people to exchange contact information one-to-one as well as multiple members at once using a digital business card system that consists a server and a database based on NFC communication. The system has been developed to collect business card information from a NFC reader and to transfer it directly to a smartphone application effectively. The system can manage business card information with the application effectively and provide security in order to prevent from leakage of private information when transferring contact data.

  • In this paper, we study the complex mobile antenna for WPT(Wireless Power Transfer) with NFC(Near Field Communication) of inductive coupling using FPCB which has half thickness compared with the existing coil type antennas. Considering the pattern thickness of loop antenna, the analysis of electromagnetic wave absorber and battery's influence, absorber thickness, the ranges of design parameters are obtained. The proposed antenna has 0.45 mm thickness using single layer 3 oz FPCB and absorber. From measurement, the characteristics of NFC antenna can be satisfied with the specifications of EMVCo. and domestic mobile telecommunication and the transmission efficiency of the proposed WPT antenna is 68.1 % which is competitive with the existing coil type antenna. From the results of this paper, it has been confirmed that the proposed antenna can be used as the WPT and NFC antenna for mobile phone.   • NFC란 Near Field Communication의 약자로, 양방향 통신을 지원하는 근거리 통신 방법으로, 저전력, 사용의 편이성 등이 새롭게 각광받고 있는 차세대 통신수단이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 바코드와 유사한 QR코드와 NFC를 모두 이용하는 모바일 환경에서의 소셜 커머스 결제 시스템을 제안한다. NFC를 사용하여 결제하는 제안된 방식이 기존의 결제 방식에 비하여 간편하고 편의성이 증대됨을 보인다.

A Study on the Near Field Beam Scanning of the Array Antenna (근거리 빔 스캐닝 안테나에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a method of feeding for the near field beam scanning array antenna with three dimensional focal point has been studied. The conventional array antenna theory is mostly about the far field points. The basic idea is to feed the transmitted signal so that it is in phase at the desired point. In this study, a method is proposed to compensate the phase to have the maximum received power at the point where the measurement point distance is near to the array antenna size. In the proposed method, 11 point source antennas are arrayed in three ways in free space. And the contour map is plotted by calculating the radiation patterns in the three dimensional space and the received signal intensities in the plane within the near space. As a result, it was confirmed that 3 dimensional beam scanning is possible also in the near field of the array antenna.

  • Motivated by the Communication Broadcasting Convergence service, various technical approaches are being used to develop more efficient antenna models. This paper proposes a compact mobile antenna which is attachable to a cell phone and is applicable for Communication Broadcasting Convergence. In the design of the antennas for mobile handsets, size reduction is a crucial factor. In this paper, the compactness of a loop antenna is realized by bending a folded-dipole. A short planar dipole is transformed to a twice folded dipole and a loop antenna to produce a larger input resistance. The current distribution of the antenna is the same as a loop antenna, and its radiation patterns are omni-directional. We also analyze the performance of the RFID antenna by exploring the current-induced near field radiation patterns using a electro-optic field mapping system.
