It was investigated how the contents of four active ingredients, nodakenin, decursinol, decursin, and decursinol angerate, which are active ingredients of Angelica gigas Nakai, cause material changes depending on the type of bacteria. Fermentation experiments were conducted using 9 types of bacteria: 5 types of Bacillus EMD17, 9-3, HCD2, #8, 191 and 4 types of Lactobacillus KCTC 3320, WCP02, S65, P1201. 1. The contents of decursin and decursinol angerate, which are indicator substances, rapidly decreased after 2 days of fermentation by inoculating Bacillus bacteria in the extract of Angelica gigas Nakai. Even after 4 days of fermentation, the contents of decursin and decursinol angerate were the same as on the 2nd day. On the other hand, the content of nodakenin and decursinol increased after 4 days of fermentation. In addition, the content of decursin increased significantly after 6 days of fermentation. 2. Substance changes of nodakenin and decursinol after inoculation of Bacillus bacteria into the extract of Angelica gigas Nakai were almost non-existent regardless of the type of bacteria. The change in effective content of decursin and decursinol angerate was large in Bacillus EMD17 and 9-3. Changes in the contents of decursin and decursinol angerate were almost non-existent in Bacillus HCD2, #8, and 191 strains. 3. As a result of finding out the change in active ingredient after 8 days of fermentation using 4 types of Lactobacillus KCTC 3320, WCP02, S65, and P1201 extracts of Angelica gigas Nakai, there was almost no change in the contents of nodakenin and decursinol regardless of the type of bacteria. However, in the case of fermentation with Lactobacillus S65 and P1201, the contents of decursin and decursinol angerate were changed.
Asking to change the cropping patterns to save the labor and capitals in paddy rice cultivation, the study was intended to know the weed problems under the various possible cultural systems; namely, direct seeding (in broadcast and row), machine transplanting and hand transplanting. Under the conditions as weedy check plots, paddy yields were significantly variated among cropping systems, and the functions of panicle No. and spikelet No. to the yield were neglected, among others. However, the yield and yield components were narrowed among cropping systems, and the function of spikelets number per area was comparatively improved to the others.

In this paper, the supersonic flows around space launch vehicles have been numerically simulated by using a 3-D RANS flow solver. The focus of the study was made for investigating plume-induced flow separation(PIFS). For this purpose, a vertex-centered finite-volume method was utilized in conjunction with 2nd-order Roe's FDS to discretize the inviscid fluxes. The viscous fluxes were computed based on central differencing. The Spalart-Allmaras model was employed for the closure of turbulence. The Gauss-Seidel iteration was used for time integration. To validate the flow solver, calculation was made for the 0.04 scale model of the Saturn-5 launch vehicle at the supersonic flow condition without exhaust plume, and the predicted results were compared with the experimental data. Good agreements were obtained between the present results and the experiment for the surface pressure coefficient and the Mach number distribution inside the boundary layer. Additional calculations were made for the real scale of the Saturn-5 configuration with exhaust plume. The flow characteristics were analyzed, and the PIFS distances were validated by comparing with the flight data. The KSLV-1 is also simulated at the several altitude conditions. In case of the KSLV-1, PIFS was not observed at all conditions, and it is expected that PIFS is affected by the nozzle position.
This study was carried out to investigated the developmental characteristics and spatial distribution of mango shield scale, Protopulvinaria mangiferae injuring to Elaeocarpus sylvestris(Lour.) This mango shield scale is parthenogentic. The oviparous female have three larval stages and adult. This species has two generation a year. The crawlers of the 1st generation emerged from late may to middle July, and those of the 2nd generation from early August to early October. Their emergence reached its peak in early part of the occurrence period. The crawlers disperse from 10 to 14 o'clock from ventral side of the adult and more than 90% had settled with in 8 hours on the leaves of E. sylvestris. The larvae and adults were distributed contagiously between trees. The adult densities were higher in the lower part of the crown than those in the middle or upper parts. But differents in densities were not significant among four directions. The distribution of the adult scales per leaf cluster showed an aggregation with a slightly colonized pattern.

Life table analysis and temperature-dependent development experiments were conducted to understand the biological characteristics of the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (Linnaeus) on detached Tah Tsai Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris var. narinosa) leaves at seven constant temperatures (15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30 and $33{\pm}1^{\circ}C$; $65{\pm}5%$ RH; 16L:8D). Mortality was lowest at $24^{\circ}C$ with 18% and 0% at $1^{st}{\sim}2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}{\sim}4^{th}$ nymphal stages, respectively. The developmental period of $1^{st}{\sim}2^{nd}$ nymphal stage was 8.4 days at $18^{\circ}C$, and it decreased with increasing temperature. The developmental period of the $3^{rd}{\sim}4^{th}$ nymphal stage was 6.7 days at $18^{\circ}C$. The lower threshold temperature calculated using a linear model was $7.8^{\circ}C$, and the effective accumulative temperature was 120.1DD. Adult longevity was 14.9 days at $21^{\circ}C$, and total fecundity was observed 58.5 at $24^{\circ}C$. According to the life table, the net reproduction rate was 47.5 at $24^{\circ}C$, and the intrinsic rate of increase and the finite rate of increase were 0.36 and 1.43, respectively, at $27^{\circ}C$. The doubling time was 1.95d at $27^{\circ}C$, and mean generation time was 7.43d at $30^{\circ}C$.
Alcoholic distillery waste was utilized as dual purposes to produce citric acid and to reduce the amount of waste to be treated. Enzyme and acid hydrolysis of this waste were studied to suggest effective way of present purpose. Enzymatic hydrolysis of this naked barley alcoholic distillery waste by $\alpha$-and $\beta$-amylase gave glucose as 8g/l concentration at $55^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours, which produced 1g/l citric acid and 5.33g/l mycelial. This waste material hydrolyzed with 25% HCl at $120^{\circ}C$ showed 21.5g/l glucose and produced 1.75g/l citric acid with 4.9g/1 mycelial. The glucose concentration was decreased to 3.44g/l by further 2nd acid hydrolysis because the monosugars were decomposed at prolonged hydrolysis conditions. The addition of 3g/l $NH_4NO_3$ increased the mycelial growth but reduced the amount of citric acid formed. The formation of citric acid was increased at low concentration of manganese ion.

The purpose of this study was to describe the way of life (such as smoking habits, alcohol consumption, exercise, duration of sleep, eating habits etc.), physical. psychological and overall health complaints and to identify the relationship between the way of life and health complaints of the nursing students. Data was collected with the self-administered OMI( Okayama Medical Index Health Questionnaire, devised Cornell Medical Index) from 766 nursing students and was analyzed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and an ANOVA with an SPSS/PC+ program were used. The results were as follows: 1. The mean age of subjects was 21.0557(2.7618) years old in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year-classes of nursing departments and college students in 4 regions of Korea. 62.1% of subjects were of the proper body weight, 2.0% were overweight, and 28.3% were underweight. Most subjects did not have a past history of disease, but 1.8% of subjects had experienced a blood transfusion. 2. 28.3% of the subjects had averaged 7 hours of sleep, 98.5% were nonsmokers, 91.2% were nondrinkers, 74.7% of subjects had milk intake sometimes, 53.7% of the subjects had an average salt intake, 49.6% of the subjects usually had a green vegetable intake, 45.4% of the subjects sometimes had fatty food intake, 64.8% of the subjects had good taste, 29.5% of the subjects enjoyed physical exercise. 3. The highest percentages of 'yes' among physical. psychological and overall health complaints were observed in the question 'Do you have gastric pain?'(60.2%), 'Are you confused of disorderly?' (37.2%), 'Physical body was burdensome and fatigued.'(57.3%). 4. The total O.M.I. score ranged from 1 to 89 with an average of 22.91(SD=12.10). A statistically significant difference was observed for the physical. psychological complaints for alcohol consumption. and for the psychological complaints for salt and fatty food intake. These conclusions should provide grounds for future studies of strategies for health promoting lifestyle for nursing students and their health concerns. Further research is required to investigate the life environmental and psychological factors affecting the way of life for nursing students and their health status, to analyze the health behavior of nursing students related with their culture and consciousness. Also epidemiologic research methodology, such as prospective cohort study should be considered to explore the performing process of nursing student's health behavior related with the occurrence of diseases.
Background: Bovine pericardial bioprosthesis treated with glutaraldehyde (GA) is one of the most popular prosthetic materials, but late calcific degeneration after implantation is a problem that remains unsolved. For the purpose of mitigating the calcific degeneration, we added MgCl2 into the 0.625% GA solution to compete with calcium for binding to the free aldehyde from GA and pretreated with the surfactants like sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and Triton X-100 before GA fixation for preventing the phospholipid infiltration into the pericardial tissue, the first step of the calcific degeneration. Material and Method: 40 square-shaped pieces of bovine pericardia were fixed in 0.625% GA solution with 4g/L MgCl2 6H2O as a control group (group 1). 40 pieces pretreated with 1% SDS were also fixed in the same GA solution (group 2) and other 40 pieces pretreated with 1% Triton X-100 were prepared with the same method (group 3). After 1 month of fixation these were implanted into the belly of 40 Sprague-Dawley subdermally and extracted 1 month, 2 months, 3 months and 6 months after implantation. With atomic absorption spectrophotometry we measured the deposited calcium amount. Result: 1 month after implantation we could not find any differences between the three groups, but by the 2nd month calcium deposition was 0.921$\pm$0.121 mg/g in group 1, 0.481$\pm$0.037 mg/g in group 2 and 1.369$\pm$0.200 mg/g in group 3. By the 3rd month it was 0.786$\pm$0.080 mg/g in group 1, 0.584$\pm$0.054 mg/g in group 2 and 1.139$\pm$0.188 mg/g in group 3, and on the 6th month 1.623$\pm$0.601 mg/g in group 1,0.501$\pm$0.043 mg/g in group 2 and 1.625$\pm$0.382 mg/g in group 3, with statistical significance in group 2(p<0.05). Conclusion: Pretreatment with SDS showed meaningful calcium mitigation effects on subcutaneously implanted bovine pericardium in the rat models but the neutral type surfactant, Triton X-100, had no positive mitigation effect in this experiment.
Two-stage fed-batch culture of Candide tropicalis that was designated primarily to cultivate the cell in the glucose medium (1st stage) and then produced the xylitol from xylose medium (2nd stage) was developed to improve a xylitol yield and productivity. In the growth stage, glucose was automatically supplied to the fermentor by pH-stat mode when the pH was up 5.7, When a feeding medium was added in order to reach the glucose and yeast extract concentrations up to 100 and 40 g/L, respectively, a high cell concentration and a relatively low ethanol concentration were obtained in 18.5 h culture. In the production stage, initial xylose concentration of 150 g/L was the most favorable for obtaining the final xylitol concentration and productivity. The addition of mineral salts was also enhanced a xylitol production. But the aeration rate was not significantly affected a xylitol production. When the addition of 16 g yeast extract and 232.5 g xylose powder at the production stage was used, xylitol yield and productivity were significantly increased. With these conditions, xylitol concentration, yield and productivity of 108.9 g/L, 74%) and 3.3 g/L·h, respectively, were obtained in a final volume of 1.58 L. The further addition of 16 g yeast extract and 232.5 g xylose powder increased the working volume partly (1.67 L) and resulted in a relatively high xylitol concentration, yield and productivity of 193 g/L, 70% and 3.6 g/L·h, respectively.
