Relative Navigation with Intermittent Laser-based Measurement for Spacecraft Formation Flying

  • This paper presents relative navigation using intermittent laser-based measurement data for spacecraft flying formation that consist of two spacecrafts; namely, chief and deputy spacecrafts. The measurement data consists of the relative distance measured by a femtosecond laser, and the relative angles between the two spacecrafts. The filtering algorithms used for the relative navigation are the extended Kalman filter (EKF), unscented Kalman filter (UKF), and least squares recursive filter (LSRF). Numerical simulations reveal that the relative navigation performances of the EKF- and UKF-based relative navigation algorithms decrease in accuracy as the measurement outage period increases. However, the relative navigation performance of the UKF-based algorithm is 95 % more accurate than that of the EKF-based algorithm when the measurement outage period is 80 sec. Although the relative navigation performance of the LSRF-based relative navigation algorithm is 94 % and 370 % less accurate than those of the EKF- and UKF-based navigation algorithms, respectively, when the measurement outage period is 5 sec; the navigation error varies within a range of 4 %, even though the measurement outage period is increased. The results of this study can be applied to the design of a relative navigation strategy using the developed algorithms with laser-based measurements for spacecraft formation flying.

사용편의성이 강화된 인터넷 종합 쇼핑몰 디자인에 관한 연구-내비게이션 디자인을 중심으로 (A study on design of Internet shopping mall to enhance usability -Focused on Navigation Design)

  • 국내에서 인터넷 쇼핑몰은 성장을 계속하고 있으며 우리의 생활과 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있다. 그러나 사용자는 보다 편리하고 쉽게 상품을 구매할 수 있는 인터넷 쇼핑몰을 필요로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 사용편의성이 강화된 인터넷 쇼핑몰 내비게이션 디자인을 제안하기 위하여 국내의 인터넷 종합쇼핑몰을 분석하고 피험자에게 과제를 수행하게 한 후 심층 면접을 통하여 보다 편리하게 상품을 구매할 수 있는 디자인이 무엇인가를 파악하였다. 피험자들은 보다 많은 목록이 제시되어 다음 단계를 예측할 수 있는 롤오버 메뉴를 선호하였으며 좁은 메뉴에서는 많은 오류를 범하기 때문에 넓은 영역의 메뉴가 필요하다고 생각한다. 사용편의성이 강화된 인터넷 쇼핑몰 디자인이 개발되면 경쟁력이 강화될 수 있고, 상품의 구매도 촉진시킬 수 있으리라 생각된다.

  • Many electronic products employ menu-driven interfaces for user-system dialogue. Unlike the software user interfaces, a small single-line display, such as a Liquid Crystal Display, is typically used to present menu items. Since the display can show only a single menu item at a time, more serious navigation problems are expected with single-line display menus(SDM). This study attempts to provide a set of unique guidelines for the design of the SDM based on empirical results. A human factors experiment was conducted to examine the effects of four design variables: menu structure, user experience, navigation aid, and number of targets. The usability of design alternatives was measured quantitatively in four different aspects, which were speed, accuracy, inefficiency of navigation, and subjective user preference. The analysis of variance was used to test the statistical effects of the design variables and their interaction effects. A set of design guidelines was drawn from the results which can be applied to the design of human-system interfaces of a wide variety of electronic consumer products using such displays. Since more generalized guidelines could be provided by constructing prediction models based on the empirical data, some powerful performance models are also required for the SDM. As a preliminary study, a survey was done on the performance models for ordinary computer menus.

Precedent based design foundations for parametric design: The case of navigation and wayfinding

  • Parametric design systems serve as powerful assistive tools in the design process by providing a flexible approach for the generation of a vast number of design alternatives. However, contemporary parametric design systems focus primarily on low-level engineering and structural forms, without an explicit means to also take into account high-level, cognitively motivated people-centred design goals. We present a precedent-based parametric design method that integrates people-centred design "precedents" rooted in empirical evidence directly within state of the art parametric design systems. As a use-case, we illustrate the general method in the context of an empirical study focusing on the multi-modal analysis of wayfinding behaviour in two large-scale healthcare environments. With this use-case, we demonstrate the manner in which: (1). a range of empirically established design precedents -e.g., pertaining to visibility and navigation- may be articulated as design constraints to be embedded directly within state of the art parametric design tools (e.g., Grasshopper); and (2). embedded design precedents lead to the (parametric) generation of a number of morphologies that satisfy people-centred design criteria (in this case, pertaining to wayfinding). Our research presents an exemplar for the integration of cognitively motivated design goals with parametric design-space exploration methods. We posit that this opens-up a range of technological challenges for the engineering and development of next-generation computer aided architecture design systems.

KASS 위성통신시스템 개념설계 분석 (Conceptual Design Analysis of Satellite Communication System for KASS)

  • 본 논문은 한국형 위성기반보정시스템인 KASS (Korea augmentation satellite system)을 구성하는 위성통신국과 임차해 구축 예정인 2기의 정지궤도 위성이 포함된 위성통신시스템에 대한 상위개념의 설계분석 결과를 제시하였다. 위성통신국의 주요 기능인 중앙처리국으로부터의 보정정보 및 무결성 정보를 수신하여 해당 메시지에 대한 부호화, 변조 후 주파수변환 및 신호증폭에 대한 내용과 그 기능을 만족하는 설계를 위한 분석내용을 각 과정에 대한 개념, GEO 위성을 추가적인 기능인 GPS 위성 레인징 신호, GEO 레인징 신호를 사용하기 위한 GEO 위성에 대한 정밀 궤도결정기술, 그리고 GPS 위성과 GEO 위성간 시각 동기를 위한 클럭 조정에 대하여 기술하였다. 추가적으로 중계기 대역폭에 따른 GEO 위성 레인징 성능 분석결과로 SBAS 보강 서비스를 위해서는 최소한 2.2 MHz 의 GPS와 같은 레인징 서비스를 위해서는 18.5 MHz의 대역폭이 필요함을 제시하였다. 이러한 분석내용은 GEO 위성과 위성통신국의 설치장소가 최종 확정되면 최종 분석을 수행하여 KASS 위성통신시스템 설계에 반영할 예정이다.

  • IMO에서 개발 중인 e-Navigation 전략 이행 계획에는 VTM(Vessel Traffic Management)을 핵심 요소들 중 하나로 포함시키고 있다. E-Navigation이 지향하는 VTM은 현재 VTS보다 다양하고 정확한 항행 정보를 선박에 제공하고 적극적 관제를 통하여 안전하고 효율적인 해상교통 흐름을 유지시키는 개념을 갖고 있다. IMO에서 계획하고 있는 VTM 기능을 구현하기 위해서는 VTS 운용 요원인 관제사들의 역할 및 능력이 VTM의 성공 여부를 좌우한다. 따라서, VTM의 구현을 위해서는 VTM에 있어서 관제사들의 역할과 관제사들의 VTM 수행을 위한 자질 능력 향상을 위한 교육 훈련 방안이 함께 논의되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 e-Navigation 환경 하에서 VTS 관제사가 안전하고 효율적인 VTM을 수행할 수 있도록 관제사를 지원하는 관제사 의사 결정 지원 시스템에 대한 개념 설계를 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 관제사 의사결정 지원 시스템의 개념, 주요 기능, 구성 요소 및 이를 구현하기 위한 요소 기술들에 대해 기술하였다.

Integrated Navigation System Design of Electro-Optical Tracking System with Time-delay and Scale Factor Error Compensation

  • In order for electro-optical tracking system (EOTS) to have accurate target coordinate, accurate navigation results are required. If an integrated navigation system is configured using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) of EOTS and the vehicle's navigation results, navigation results with high rate can be obtained. Due to the time-delay of the navigation results of the vehicle in the EOTS and scale factor errors of the EOTS IMU in high-speed and high dynamic operation of the vehicle, it is much more difficult to have accurate navigation results. In this paper, an integrated navigation system of EOTS which compensates time-delay and scale factor error is proposed. The proposed integrated navigation system consists of vehicle's navigation system which provides time-delayed navigation results, an EOTS IMU, an inertial navigation system (INS), an augmented Kalman filter and integration Kalman filter. The augmented Kalman filter outputs navigation results, in which the time-delay of the vehicle's navigation results is compensated. The integration Kalman filter estimates position, velocity, attitude error of the EOTS INS and accelerometer bias, accelerometer scale factor error, gyro bias and gyro scale factor error from the difference between the output of the augmented Kalman filter and the navigation result of the EOTS INS. In order to check performance of the proposed integrated navigation system, simulations for output data of a measurement generator and land vehicle experiments were performed. The performance evaluation results show that the proposed integrated navigation system provides more accurate navigation results.

SDINS의 영속도 보정 칼만필터 설계 (Design and performance analysis of a zero-velocity update Kalman filter for SDINS)

  • In this paper, a zero-velocity update technique to improve navigation accuracy of a SDINS(Strapdown Inertial Navigation System) has been studied. An indirect feedback Kalman filter which includes SDINS error equations based on a quaternion between body-fixed frame and local level navigation frame is employed for processing zero-velocity updates in an on-board navigation filter. Simulation results for land-mobile vehicle show that the zerovelocity update technique make a significant contribution to improving SDINS performance without any external aids.

  • Cleaning robot system consists of four parts; navigation system for moving of robot, cleaning system, power system, and main system with cleaning algorithm. Navigation system is the most expensive part because it has motors and sensors which is high price. Navigation system is also essential to service robot system, but user should buy two systems which are service robot system and cleaning robot system. If it is possible to share navigation system, user can save money. In this paper, we design the cleaning robot system based on modular architecture.
