The serviceability design of the high-rise building is affected by the wind response vibration such as the acceleration, at this time it is important to calculate the natural frequency correctly. Since the suggestion equation of the natural frequency being used in the design phase is not the regression equation obtained from the vibration measurement of the high-rise building, the verification to use for the serviceability design of the high-rise building is necessary. This thesis conducted an ambient vibration measuring on the high-rise building through the mobile-phone application to calculate the natural frequency and suggested a natural frequency approximate expression following the building's height, and compared with the domestic/foreign standard and the result of the eigen-value analysis.
In present study, Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) was employed to carry out the dynamic and vibration analysis of the threshing unit of the combine harvester thresher as a mechanical component. The main study is to find the causes of vibration and to decrease it to enhance the lifetime and efficiency of the threshing unit. By utilizing OMA, structural modal parameters such as mode shapes, natural frequencies, and damping ratio was calculated. The combine harvester was excited by engine to vibrate different parts and accelerometer sensor collected acceleration signals at different speeds, and OMA was utilized by nonparametric and frequency analysis methods to obtain modal parameters while vibrating in real working conditions. Afterwards, finite element model was designed from the thresher and updated using the data obtained from the modal analysis. Using the conducted analyses, it was specified that proximity of the thresher pass frequency to one of the natural frequencies (16.64 Hz) was the most important effect of vibration in the thresher. Modification process of the structure was carried out by increasing mass required for changing the natural frequency location of the first mode to 12.4 Hz in order to reduce resonance and vibration of the thresher.
High brittleness is a characteristic of glass, and in many cases it is broken during the process of machining due to processing problems, such as scratches, chipping, and notches. Machining defects occur due to the vibration of the equipment. Therefore, design techniques are needed that can control the vibration generated in the equipment to increase the strength of tempered glass. The natural frequency of the machine tool via vibration analysis (computer simulation) must be accurately understood to improve the design to ensure the stability of the machine. To accurately understand the natural frequency, 3D modeling, which is the same as actual apparatus, was used and a constraint condition was also applied that was the same as that of the actual apparatus. The maximum speeds of ultrasonic and high frequency, which are 15,000 rpm and 60,000 rpm, respectively, are considerably faster than those of typical machine tools. Therefore, an improved design is needed so that the natural frequency is formed at a lower region and the natural frequency does not increase through general design reinforcement. By restructuring the top frame of the glass processing, the natural frequency was not formed in the operating speed area with the improved design. The lower-order natural frequency is dominant for the effects that the natural frequency has on the vibration. Therefore, the design improvement in which the lower-order natural frequency is not formed in the operating speed area is an optimum design improvement. It is possible to effectively control the vibrations by avoiding resonance with simple design improvements.
This paper is concerned with the analysis of natural vibration characteristics of an accelerometer used in power plant. The malfunction of the accelerometer in high-temperature environment may produce erroneous sensor signal and the erroneous signal may cause unpredicted accidents in power plants. Hence, the accelerometer which endures high temperature needs to be developed. In this study, the natural vibration characteristics of the accelerometer were investigated prior to the development of the high-temperature accelerometer. The main mechanical part of the accelerometer is a spiral spring. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of the spiral spring were investigated first by using a commercial finite element code. Numerical results show that the thickness of the spiral spring affects the dynamic characteristics. Numerical investigation on the effect of temperature on the performance of the accelerometer will follow.
In this paper the vibration analysis of cantilever beams having a concentrated tip mass and an open crack are performed. The influences of a concentrated tip mass, the crack depth, and the crack position on the natural frequencies of the cracked cantilever beam are investigated by a numerical method. The cracked cantilever beam is modeled based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The flexibility due to crack is calculated using a fracture mechanics theory. The crack is assumed to be opened during the vibrations. The results obtained by the present method were compared with experimental results to verify the theory. As inspected, as the crack depth and the concentrated tip mass increase, the natural frequencies of the beam decrease. In general, the natural frequencies of the cantilever beam are more sensitive to the depth of the crack than the position of the crack.
This paper aims to investigate the free vibration analysis of FG plates, taking into account the effects of even and uneven porosity. The study employs the Hellinger-Reisner functional and obtains the element's bending stress and membrane stress fields from the analytical solution of the governing equations of the thick plate and plane problem, respectively. The displacement field serves as the second independent field. While few articles on free vibration analysis of circular plates exist, this paper investigates the free vibration of both rectangular and circular plates. After validating the proposed element, the paper investigates the effects of porosity distributions on the natural frequency of the FG porous plate. The study calculates the natural frequency of thin and thick bending plates with different aspect ratios and support conditions for various porosity and volume fraction index values. The study uses three types of porosity distributions, X, V, and O, for the uneven porosity distribution case. For O and V porosity distribution modes, porosity has a minor effect on the natural frequency for both circular and rectangular plates. However, in the case of even porosity distribution or X porosity distribution, the effect of porosity on the natural frequency of circular and rectangular plates increases with an increase in the volume fraction index.
This paper deals with the free vibration analysis of beam-columns resting on Pasternak foundation by the Differential Quadrature Method. Based on the differential equation subjected to the boundary conditions, adopted from the open literature, which governs the free vibrations of such member, this equation is applied to the Differential Quadrature Method. For computing natural frequencies, the numerical procedures are developed by QR Algorithm, in which the Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto method is used for choosing the grid points. The numerical methods developed herein for computing natural frequencies are programmed in FORTRAN code, and all solutions obtained in this study are quite agreed with those in the open literature.
Vibration analysis of pipe with Elbow subject to internal pressure and temperature is studied through a commercial finite element analysis tool. The natural frequency of Elbow increased very slightly as internal pressure increases. Meanwhile, the frequency of Elbow decreased as temperature increases. It is shown that frequency deviation caused by temperature was greater than that caused by pressure. As the length of Elbows increases, frequency deviation by temperature stew rapidly, but frequency deviation by pressure was not so high. It is concluded that more concern needs to be focused on temperature rather than on pressure in terms of natural frequency.
This paper presents the analysis fur the radial vibration characteristics of cylindrical piezoelectric transducers. Taking into account the piezoelectric anisotropy, the differential equations of piezoelectric radial motion have been derived in terms of radial displacement and electric potential. Applying mechanical and electric boundary conditions has yielded a characteristic equation for radial vibration. Numerical analysis also has been carried out by using the finite element method. Theoretical calculations of the fundamental natural frequency have been compared with the experimental observations for transducers of several sizes. Comparison with the previous report of theoretical analysis simplifying the piezoelectric anisotropy into isotropy concludes that isotropic analysis is a reasonable process to predict the vibration characteristics of piezoelectric transducers.
The purpose of this paper is that investigates the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S(Wind Turbine System) and carries out the evaluation analysis during operating W.T.S. To investigate the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S. the experiments to measure vibration of the blade from the attached accelerometer on the flap and edge section of the blade that is one of the most important elements of dynamic characteristic of W.T.S are performed. Natural frequency and mode shape are calculated with commercial program (STAR MODAL) using the measured vibration acceleration that receives the signal with F.F.T Analyzer from the accelerometer. For validation of these experiments. the finite element analysis is performed with commercial F.E.M Program (ANSYS) on the basis of the natural frequency and mode shape. The results indicate that experimental values have good agreements with the finite element analysis.
