  • For composing the structure model of national maritime power system by system structural modeling, in this study, the 50 basic factors are selected by survey of the extensive and through literatures on maritime, sea, maritime power and sea power. And the basic factors are classified into 36 component factors by cluster method. The 9 attributes are extracted by the application of the principle component analysis method, one of the factor analysis method in system engineering, to component factors. In this study, we define the attributes composing the national maritime power system by integrating the result of this study and existed our studies relating to this topic. Which are showed in Table 2. and we show the structure model of national maritime power system in Fig. 3. In Table 2, the 9 attributes are as follows : the fundamental power of maritime, shipping and port power, naval power, fishing power, shipbuilding power, the power of ocean research and development, dependency on seaborne trade, the protection power of ocean environment and the will and inclination of govemment. Also, in the case of evaluating this system, we conform the importance of considering the interactions among the attributes which have strong interactions in structure model of national maritime power system.

  • In this paper, a theoretical measurement model for comparing cultural power of nations as a form of national power is built and applied to the G20 nations. The measurement model is drawn from the literature of the state theories regarding culture, theories of epistemology, and debates about the sources of national power. Taking the multiple indicator approach, indicators reflecting diverse aspects of cultural power are developed are developed. Examined with empirical data, this model is proved as appropriate as a tool for measuring and comparing the cultural power of nations. Diverse aspects of the cultural power of the G20 nations are ranked and interesting points regarding the state and potential of Korean culture and her cultural governance in these respects are elaborated. The overall ranking of the cultural power of Korea is found as the $11^{th}$ while the U.S., U.K. and France respectively as the $1^{st}$, the $2^{nd}$, and the $3^{rd}$. The U.S. is ranked as the 1st in all three aspects of the cultural power of nation: cultural attractiveness, efforts to enhance the national cultural power, and cultural base of a nation. Korea is ranked as $14^{th}$, $11^{th}$, and $6^{th}$ respectively in these three respects of the national cultural power. Based upon typological analysis of the cultural power of Korea, it is found that Korea belongs to Type III. Trying to move eventually toward Type I state via Type II is suggested as a strategy movement for future cultural governance by Korean government and people to enhance her national cultural power.

  • This paper presents the effects of an increase or a decrease of a power reserve by load flow calculations under the seasonal load patterns of each country for the future power shortages faced by the metropolitan areas or by the southeastern area of South Korea in North-East Asia. In this paper, the various cases of the power system interconnections in Far-East Asia are presented, and the resulting interconnected power systems are simulated by means of a power flow analysis performed with the PSS/E 28 version tool. Data for simulation were obtained from the 2-th long term plan of electricity supply and demand in KEPCO. The power flow map is drawn from simulated data and the comparative study is done. In the future, a power flow analysis will be considered to reflect the effects of seasonal power exchanges. And the plan of assumed scenarios will be considered with maximum or minimum power exchanges during summer or winter in North-East Asian countries.

  • This paper deals with the design and implementation of wireless sensor network protocol for smart power outlet system capable of fire detection, power monitoring, standby power cutoff, and home automation. The proposed protocol integrates both the CSMA and the TDMA protocols for low power consumption and good scalability. A prototype smart power outlet system employing the proposed protocol and a simple home automation network including the power outlet system have been implemented for evaluating the feasibility of the proposed protocol The result shows that the proposed protocol allows the power outlet system to be scalable with high power efficiency.

  • This paper presents the modeling and power quality analysis of Jeju island power system connected with wind farm, and thermal power plant. It is for indicating the influence of wind farm operation in steady and transient state in Jeju island power system during the HVDC system overhaul period. For the computer simulation, three kinds of main item are modeled, which are 67[MW] wind farm, thermal power plant and Jeju power load. To analyze the influence of the wind power generation to the Jeju power system, two kinds of simulations are carried out by using the PSCAD/EMTDC program. One is the steady state operation under the variable speed wind, and the other is the transient state operation when all of wind farms in Jeju island are disconnected from the Jeju power grid instantaneously on the rated power output. With the comparison of these results, it is useful for analyzing the power quality of Jeju power system versus wind power generation.

  • The transmission capacity has been highlighted as a problem in the power company according to operated heavy loaded of transmission facility. The total transfer capability in the KEPCO power system is determined mainly by the voltage stability limit and many approaches for enhancement of the total transfer capability has been consistently performed. This paper proposes a study on determination of the adequate var sizing of power compensator regarding the transfer capability enhancement in power system. This method was controlled power compensator in substation becasue of the voltage stability. It was simulated power system using EMS peak data.

  • Power line in electric power tunnel generate heat around during power transmission. Rising temperature inside the electric power tunnel reduces the transmission efficiency of the power line. In this study, trying to understand the change in temperature in the electric power tunnel by forced ventilation and natural ventilation when the temperature rise of the electric power tunnel. The results show that average temperature in electric power tunnel by natural ventilation, forced ventilation is $56.55^{\circ}C$, $23.25^{\circ}C$. Therefore electric power tunnel during power transmission needs cooling or ventilation system.

  • Electric power system is consisted of power supply and power enable circuit. Power supply provides operating voltage with internal chip. Depending on the operating voltage, power enable circuit provides operating signal, PWREN. Because energy is obtained from signal of external station, passive transponder must have the low power consumption. In this paper, the power supply module of the low power transponder is designed and analyzed.

  • This study predicts the power consumption of an Electric Propulsion Ship (EPS) in marine environment. The EPS is driven by a propeller rotated by a propulsion motor, and the power consumption of the propeller changes by the marine environment. The propulsion motor consumes the highest percentage of the ships' total power. Therefore, it is necessary to predict the power consumption and determine the power generation capacity and the propeller capacity to design an efficient EPS. This study constructs a power estimation simulator for EPS by using a ship motion model including marine environment and an electric power consumption model. The usage factor that represents the relationship between power consumption and propulsion is applied to the simulator for power prediction. Four marine environment scenarios are set up and the power consumed by the propeller to maintain a constant ship speed according to the marine environment is predicted in each scenario.
