REMARKS ON NONTOPOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS IN THE SELF-DUAL CHERN-SIMONS GAUGED O(3) SIGMA MODELS

  • In this paper, we prove the existence of nontopological solutions to the self-dual equations arising from the Chern-Simons gauged O(3) sigma models. The property of solutions depends on a parameter ${\tau}{\in}[-1,1]$ appearing in the nonlinear term. The case ${\tau}=1$ lies on the borderline for the existence of solutions in the previous results [4, 5, 7]. We prove the existence of solutions in this case when there are only vortex points. Moreover, if $-1{\leq}{\tau}$<1, we establish solutions which are perturbed from the solutions of singular Liouville equations.

  • Tofieldia ulleungensis, a new species of the genus Tofieldia from the Nari Basin on Ulleungdo Island, Korea, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to T. yoshiiana var. koreana in terms of the plant height and in that it has having a long raceme, whitish tepals, and whitish stigma, but can be readily distinguished from the latter by the presence of 1-2 linear cauline leaves, a slightly bent leaf apex, basal leaves which are twice as wide, a shorter pedicel, a revolute style, and crescent-shaped seeds.

  • In September 2007, the collapses of slopes and landslides are happened at Jeonlanamdo due to heavy rains accompanied with Typoon "Nari". The study area is the tunnel portal slope in new road construction site. This slope consists of pyroclastic rocks and has lots of faults. Particularly, the residual soils of the slope is deteriorated with yellowish mudstone layer as a results of chemical and physical weathering. This has a variety of swelling clay minerals and might be moved easily down at the gentle terrain. The inner factor of $\bigcirc\bigcirc$tunnel portal slope's collapse is the geological weak zone, the convergent topography, the inferiority of drainage and the heavy rain act on the failure as direct trigger.

Typhoon Simulation with GME Model (GME 모델을 이용한 태풍 모의)

  • Typhoon simulation based on dynamical forecasting results is demonstrated by utilizing geodesic model GME (operational global numerical weather prediction model of German Weather Service). It is based on uniform icosahedral-hexagonal grid. The GME gridpoint approach avoids the disadvantages of spectral technique as well as the pole problem in latitude-longitude grids and provides a data structure extremely well suited to high efficiency on distributed memory parallel computers. In this study we made an attempt to simulate typhoon 'NARI' that passed over the Korean Peninsula in 2007. GME has attributes of numerical weather prediction model and its high resolution can provide details on fine scale. High resolution of GME can play key role in the study of severe weather phenomenon such as typhoons. Simulation of future typhoon that is assumed to occur under the global warming situation shows that the life time of that typhoon will last for a longer time and the intensity will be extremely stronger.

  • 고속 자기부상열차의 추진전동기로 사용되는 선형동기전동기의 구동 알고리즘으로는 추력의 제어를 위해 벡터제어를 사용한다. 벡터제어를 위해서는 위치 정보가 필요하기 때문에 바코드 등의 센서를 이용한다. 바코드에 의한 위치정보시스템은 정보가 이산형이고 통신을 이용하기 때문에 실제 위치 정보를 취득하는데 지연이 발생하여 벡터제어에 영향을 주게 된다. 본 논문에서는 바코드 정보취득시스템의 ldus에 의한 영향을 분석하고 이에 대한 보상알고리즘을 제안하였다. 시물레이션을 통해 문제점을 분석하고 제안한 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증하였다.

Preparation of a Semi-Conductive Thin Film Sensor for Measuring Occlusal Force

  • In order to study the semi-conductive characteristics of carbon black-filled ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) composite film, which is used for measuring occlusal force, composite samples with volume ratios of carbon black to EPDM ranging from 30% to 70% were prepared. The process of making a composite film consists of two steps, which involve the preparation of a slurry composition and the fabrication of a thin film using solution casting and a lamination process. To prepare the slurry composition, we dispersed carbon black nanoparticles into an organic solvent before mixing with an EPDM solution in toluene. The mechanical and electrical properties of the resulting carbon black-filled EPDM film were then investigated, and the results showed that the electrical resistance of a film decreases with the increase in the carbon black content. Furthermore, improved elastic recovery was observed after cross-linking the EPDM.

  • 본 논문은 전기자동차에 탑재되는 리튬 폴리머 배터리의 고효율 충전 전략을 제시하고, 그에 따른 탑재형 충전기의 효율을 분석한다. 내부 임피던스에 의한 충전 손실을 전혀 고려하지 않는 기존의 정전류 충전방식과 대조적으로, 제안하는 방법은 배터리 내부 임피던스를 고려함으로써 충전과정의 손실을 상당량 저감할 수 있다. 본 연구의 타당성은 배터리 실험결과를 통하여 증명한다.

Delayed Surgery for Aortic Dissection after Intravenous Thrombolysis in Acute Ischemic Stroke

  • We report a case of aortic dissection masquerading as acute ischemic stroke followed by intravenous thrombolysis. A 59-year-old man presented with dizziness. After examination, the patient had a seizure with bilateral Babinski signs. Soon after identifying multiple acute infarctions in both hemispheres on diffusion-weighted brain magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) was administered. Both common carotid arteries were invisible on MR angiography, and subsequent chest computed tomography revealed an aortic dissection. The emergency operation was delayed for 13 hours due to t-PA administration. The patient died of massive bleeding.

  • 본 논문은 노화로 인한 배터리의 용량과 최대 출력 변화를 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 실시간으로 내부저항을 추정하여 배터리의 최대 출력을 예측하고 전하량 대비 개방회로전압의 변화율을 통해 노화된 용량을 계산한다. 개방회로전압 변화율의 정확한 계산을 위하여 앞서 추정된 내부저항을 이용한다. 제안하는 알고리즘의 정확도는 단전지 실험 및 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증한다.

  • 본 논문은 내부 저항을 추정하여 배터리 노화 상태 (State of Health)를 판단하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 내부 저항은 차량 구동 시 발생하는 전류 변화량과 그에 따른 전압강하 특성을 이용하여 추정되며, 정확도를 높이기 위해 차량의 주행 특성을 고려하여 추정 조건을 결정한다. 알고리즘의 정확도는 MATLAB 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증한다.
