This paper proposes the 80-kW high-efficiency bidirectional hybrid SiC boost/buck converter using droop control for DC nano-grid. The proposed converter consists of four 20-kW modules to achieve fault tolerance, ease of thermal management, and reduced component stress. Each module is constructed as a cascaded structure of the two basic bi-directional converters, namely, interleaved boost and buck converters. A six-pack hybrid SiC intelligent power module (IPM) suitable for the proposed cascaded structure is adopted for high-efficiency and compactness. The proposed converter with hybrid switching method reduces the switching loss by minimizing switching of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). Each module control achieves smooth transfer from buck to boost operation and vice versa, since current controller switchover is not necessary. Furthermore, the proposed parallel control using DC droop with secondary control, enhances the current sharing accuracy while well regulating the DC bus voltage. A 20-kW prototype of the proposed converter has been developed and verified with experiments and indicates a 99.3% maximum efficiency and 98.8% rated efficiency.
For the programming volume of PRAM, Ge2Sb2Te5(GST) thin films have been dominantly used and prepared by physical vapor deposition (PVD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), atomic layer deposition (ALD). Among these methods, ALD is particularly considered as the most promising technique for the integration of PRAM because the ALD offers a superior conformality to PVD and CVD methods and a digital thickness control precisely to the atomic level since the film is deposited one atomic layer at a time. Meanwhile, although the IST has been already known as an optical data storage material, recently, it is known that the IST benefits multistate switching behavior, meaning that the IST-PRAM can be used for mutli-level coding, which is quite different and unique performance compared with the GST-PRAM. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate a possibility of the IST materials for the application of PRAM. So far there are many attempts to deposit the IST with MOCVD and PVD. However, it has not been reported that the IST can be deposited with the ALD method since the ALD reaction mechanism of metal organic precursors and the deposition parameters related with the ALD window are rarely known. Therefore, the main aim of this work is to demonstrate the ALD process for IST films with various precursors and the conformal filling of a nano size programming volume structure with the ALD?IST film for the integration. InSbTe (IST) thin films were deposited by ALD method with different precursors and deposition parameters and demonstrated conformal filling of the nano size programmable volume of cell structure for the integration of phase change random access memory (PRAM). The deposition rate and incubation time are 1.98 A/cycle and 25 cycle, respectively. The complete filling of nano size volume will be useful to fabricate the bottom contact type PRAM.
Recently, the control of pore-characteristics of nano-porous materials has been studied extensively because of their unique applications, which includes size-selective separation, gas adsorption/storage, heterogeneous catalysis, etc. The most widely adopted techniques for controlling pore characteristics include the utilization of pillar effect by metal oxide and of templates such as zeolites. More recently, coordination polymers constructed by transition metal ions and bridging organic ligands have afforded new types of nano-porous materials, porous metal-organic framework(porous MOF), with high degree and uniformity of porosity. The pore characteristics of these porous MOFs can be designed by controlling the coordination number and geometry of selected metal, e.g transition metal and rare-earth metal, and the size, rigidity, and coordination site of ligand. The synthesis of porous MOF by the assembly of metal ions with di-, tri-, and poly-topic N-bound organic linkers such as 4,4'-bipyridine(BPY) or multidentate linkers such as carboxylates, which allow for the formation of more rigid frameworks due to their ability to aggregate metal ions into M-O-C cluster, have been reported. Other porous MOF from co-ligand system or the ligand with both C-O and C-N type linkage can afford to control the shape and size of pores. Furthermore, for the rigidity and thermal stability of porous MOF, ring-type ligand such as porphyrin derivatives and ligands with ability of secondary bonding such as hydrogen and ionic bonding have been studied.

The purposes of this research were to form chitosan oligosaccharide (CSO)/A2 ${\beta}$-casein nano-delivery systems (NDSs) and to investigate the effects of production variables, such as CSO concentration levels (0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%, w/v) and manufacturing temperature ($5^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, and $35^{\circ}C$), on the production and physicochemical characteristics of CSO/A2 ${\beta}$-casein NDSs to carry resveratrol. The morphological characteristics of CSO/A2 ${\beta}$-casein NDSs were assessed by the use of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and particle size analyzer. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was applied to determine the entrapment efficiency (EE) of resveratrol. In the TEM images, globular-shaped particles with a diameter from 126 to 266 nm were examined implying that NDSs was successfully formed. As CSO concentration level was increased, the size and zeta-potential values of NDSs were significantly (p<0.05) increased. An increase in manufacturing temperature from $5^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$ resulted in a significant (p<0.05) increase in the size and polydispersity index of NDSs. Over 85% of resveratrol was favorably entrapped in CSO/A2 ${\beta}$-casein NDSs. The entrapment efficiency (EE) of resveratrol was significantly (p<0.05) enhanced with an increase in manufacturing temperature while CSO concentration level did not significantly affect EE of resveratrol. There were no significant (p<0.05) changes observed in the size and polydispersity index of NDSs during heat treatments and storage in model milk and yogurt indicating that CSO/A2 ${\beta}$-casein NDSs exhibited excellent physical stability. In conclusion, the CSO concentration level and manufacturing temperature were the crucial determinants affecting the physicochemical characteristics of CSO/A2 ${\beta}$-casein NDSs containing resveratrol.
Synergistically increased oxygen evolution reaction (OER) of manganese oxide (MnO2) catalyst is introduced with surface-modified halloysite nanotube (Fe3O4-HNTs) structure. The flake shaped MnO2 catalyst is attached on the nanotube template (Fe3O4-HNTs) by series of wet chemical and hydrothermal method. The strong interaction between MnO2 and Fe3O4-HNTs maximized active surface area and inter-connectivity for festinate charge transfer reaction for OER. The synergistical effect between Fe3O4 layer and MnO2 catalyst enhance the Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio by partial replacement of Mn ions with Fe. The relatively increased Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio on MnO2@FHNTs induced 𝜎* orbital (eg) occupation close to single electron, improving the OER performances. The MnO2@FHNTs catalyst exhibited the reduced overpotential of 0.42 V (E vs. RHE) at 10 mA/cm2 and Tafel slope of (99 mV/dec), compared with that of MnO2 with unmodified HNTs (0.65 V, 219 mV/dec) and pristine MnO2 (0.53 V, 205 mV/dec). The present study provides simple and innovative method to fabricate nano fiberized OER catalyst for a broad application of energy conversion and storage systems.
The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the quality characteristics of yogurt to which had been added extracts of low quality dried persimmons, in an attempt to expand the range of use of low-quality dried persimmons. In the results of our sensory evaluation, our optimal results were attained with the addition of 5 g of dried persimmon extracts, 90 g of water, 20 g of oligosaccharide, and 50 g of fructose at a specific level of 1000 mL. During the 20-day storage period, the pH value of the dried persimmon yogurt was lowest on the 15th day in the control group and the 20th day in the yogurt to which 0.5% extract had been added. The titratable acidity was lowest by a significant margin on the 10th day for all types of yogurt. Viscosity assays showed a stable level of acidity over different storage periods. The number of viable cells demonstrated a trend toward increase with passing time, and the number of viable cells in the dried-persimmon yogurt was higher than that in the control yogurt.
Industrial innovation in Britain, during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, stimulated the introduction of the factory system and the migration of people from rural agricultural communities to urban industrial societies. The factory system brought elevated levels of economic growth to the purveyors of capitalism, but forced people to migrate into cities where working conditions in factories were, in general, harsh and brutal, and living conditions were cramped, overcrowded and unsanitary. Industrial developments, known collectively as the 'Industrial Revolution', were driven initially by the harnessing of water and steam power, and the widespread construction of rail, shipping and road networks. Parallel with these changes, came the development of purchasing 'middle class', consumers. Various technological ripples (or waves of innovative activity) continued (worldwide) up to the early-twenty-first century. Of recent note are innovations in digital technology, with associated developments, for example, in artificial intelligence, robotics, 3-D printing, materials technology, computing, energy storage, nano-technology, data storage, biotechnology, 'smart textiles' and the introduction of what has become known as 'e-commerce'. This paper identifies the more important early technological innovations, their influence on textile manufacture, distribution and consumption, and the changed role of the designer and craftsperson over the course of these technological ripples. The implications of non-ethical production, globalisation and so-called 'fast fashion' and non-sustainability of manufacture are examined, and the potential benefits and opportunities offered by new and developing forms of social media are considered. The message is that hand-crafted products are ethical, sustainable and durable.
We reported here nano-scale electrical phase-change recording in amorphous $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ media using an atomic force microscope (AFM) having conducting probes. In recording process, a pulse voltage is applied to the conductive probe that touches the media surface to change locally the electrical resistivity of a film. However, in contact operation, tip/media wear and contamination could major obstacles, which degraded SNR, reproducibility, and lifetime. In order to overcome tip/media wear and contamination in contact mode operation, we adopted the W incorporated diamond-like carbon (W-DLC) films as a protective layer. Optimized mutilayer media were prepared by a hybrid deposition system of PECVD and RF magnetron sputtering. When suitable electrical pulses were applied to media through the conducting probe, it was observed that data bits as small as 25 nm in diameter have been written and read with good reproducibility, which corresponds to a data density of $1 Tbit/inch^2$. We concluded that stable electrical phase-change recording was possible mainly due to W-DLC layer, which played a role not only capping layer but also resistive layer.
This study investigated to develop new functional yogurt added domestic yuza(Citrus junos). In order to make the most effective yogurt, yuza extract and fructose were mixed at different proportions. DPPH free radical scavenging activity of yuza yogurts increased dependent on concentration. The results of the DPPH free radical scavenging activity, the 1% yuza yogurt was proven to be the best. The overall sensory score for yogurt made from adding 1% yuza ethanol extract was the best of tested yogurts. The antioxidant activity(DPPH free radical scavenging activity) was the highest in 1% yuza yogurt. The quality characteristics of prepared yogurt were evaluated in terms of acid production(pH and titratable acidity), viscosity, color and levels of lactic acid bacteria during storage period. During storage, the quality of yogurt made from adding yuza extract was better than control(without yuza extract). The sedimentation of curd was repressed a little by adding 1% yuza extract.
A new reading technology for the ultra-high density data storage device utilizing AFM technology was proposed and its experimental results were discussed in this paper. For the experiments, an about $2{\mu}m$ thick conductive polymer layer was spin-coated on the heavily doped n-type Si wafer and an about $0.1{\mu}m$ thick PMMA layer was also been spin-coated on it. After then, the $5{\times}5$ memory way was fabricated by making indents on the surface of the wafer with the heated AFM tip, and the data reading was performed by scanning the surface with the tip biased at 10 V and the measuring the current flowing out at the end of the tip. The experimental results clearly showed that the new data reading technology worked superbly. The current measured was about 0.92 pA at the cell with the indent, and it was not only below 0.31 pA at the cell without the indent, but also at the cell where the indent was erased.
