The methodology of classifying traffics is changing from payload based or port based to machine learning based in order to overcome the dynamic changes of application's characteristics. However, current state of traffic classification using machine learning (ML) algorithms is ongoing under the offline environment. Specifically, most of the current works provide results of traffic classification using cross validation as a test method. Also, they show classification results based on traffic flows. However, these traffic classification results are not useful for practical environments of the network traffic monitoring. This paper compares the classification results using cross validation with those of using split validation as the test method. Also, this paper compares the classification results based on flow to those based on bytes. We classify network traffics by using various feature sets and machine learning algorithms such as J48, REPTree, RBFNetwork, Multilayer perceptron, BayesNet, and NaiveBayes. In this paper, we find the best feature sets and the best ML algorithm for classifying traffics using the split validation.
This paper presents a new method of significantly improving conventional Bayesian statistical text classifier by incorporating accelerated EM(Expectation Maximization) algorithm. EM algorithm experiences a slow convergence and performance degrade in its iterative process, especially when real online-textual documents do not follow EM's assumptions. In this study, we propose a new accelerated EM algorithm with uncertainty-based selective sampling, which is simple yet has a fast convergence speed and allow to estimate a more accurate classification model on Naive Bayesian text classifier. Experiments using the popular Reuters-21578 document collection showed that the proposed algorithm effectively improves classification accuracy.

Anomalous propagation echo is a kind of abnormal radar signal occurred by irregularly refracted radar beam caused by temperature or humidity. The echo frequently appears in ground-based weather radar. In order to improve accuracy of weather forecasting, it is important to analyze radar data precisely. Therefore, there are several ongoing researches about identifying the anomalous propagation echo all over the world. This paper conducts researches about a classification method which can distinguish anomalous propagation echo in the radar data using naive Bayes classifier and unique attributes of the echo such as reflectivity, altitude, and so on. It is confirmed that the fine classification results are derived by verifying the suggested naive Bayes classifier using actual appearance cases of the echo.
In the case of Domeggook B2B online shopping malls, it has a market share of over 70% with more than 2 million members and 800,000 items are sold per one day. However, since the same or similar items are stored and registered in different catalog entries, it is difficult for the buyer to search for items, and problems are also encountered in managing B2B large shopping malls. Therefore, in this study, we developed a catalog entry auto classification and recommendation system for products by using semi-supervised machine learning method based on previous huge shopping mall purchase information. Specifically, when the seller enters the item registration information in the form of natural language, KoNLPy morphological analysis process is performed, and the Naïve Bayes classification method is applied to implement a system that automatically recommends the most suitable catalog information for the article. As a result, it was possible to improve both the search speed and total sales of shopping mall by building accuracy in catalog entry efficiently.

Naive Bayes (NB, for shortly) learning is more popular, faster and effective supervised learning method to handle the labeled datasets especially in which have some noises, NB learning also has well performance. However, the conditional independent assumption of NB learning imposes some restriction on the property of handling data of real world. Some researchers proposed lots of methods to relax NB assumption, those methods also include attribute weighting, kernel density estimating. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called NB Based on Attribute Weighting in Kernel Density Estimation (NBAWKDE) to improve the NB learning classification ability via combining kernel density estimation and attribute weighting.

In the current context of digitalization of education, the use of modern methods and techniques of data analysis and processing in order to improve students' school results has a very important role. In our paper, we aimed to perform a comparative study of the classification performances of AdaBoost, SVM, Naive Bayes, Neural Network and kNN algorithms to classify the results obtained at the Baccalaureate by students from a college in Suceava, during 2012-2019. To evaluate the results we used the metrics: AUC, CA, F1, Precision and Recall. The AdaBoost algorithm achieves incredible performance for classifying the results into two categories: promoted / rejected. Next in terms of performance is Naive Bayes with a score of 0.999 for the AUC metric. The Neural Network and kNN algorithms obtain scores of 0.998 and 0.996 for AUC, respectively. SVM shows poorer performance with the score 0.987 for AUC. With the help of the HeatMap and DataTable visualization tools we identified possible correlations between classification results and some characteristics of data.
Scholarly information has increased tremendously according to the development of IT, especially the Internet. However, simultaneously, people have to spend more time and exert more effort because of information overload. There have been many research efforts in the field of expert systems, data mining, and information retrieval, concerning a system that recommends user-expected information items through presumption. Recently, the hybrid system combining a content-based recommendation system and collaborative filtering or combining recommendation systems in other domains has been developed. In this paper we resolved the problem of the current recommendation system and suggested a new system combining collaborative filtering and Naive Bayes Classification. In this way, we resolved the over-specialization problem through collaborative filtering and lack of assessment information or recommendation of new contents through Naive Bayes Classification. For verification, we applied the new model in NDSL's paper service of KISTI, especially papers from journals about Sitology and Electronics, and witnessed high satisfaction from 4 experimental participants.

Anomalous propagation echo is a kind of abnormal radar signal occurred by irregularly refracted radar beam caused by temperature or humidity. The echo frequently appears in ground-based weather radar due to its observation principle and disturb weather forecasting process. In order to improve accuracy of weather forecasting, it is important to analyze radar data precisely. Therefore, there are several ongoing researches about identifying the anomalous propagation echo with data mining techniques. This paper conducts researches about implementation of classification method which can separate the anomalous propagation echo in the raw radar data using naive Bayes classifier with various kinds of observation results. Considering that collected data has a class imbalanced problem, this paper includes SMOTE method. It is confirmed that the fine classification results are derived by the suggested classifier with balanced dataset using actual appearance cases of the echo.

It is difficult to predict industrial accidents in the construction industry because many accident factors, such as human-related factors and environment-related factors, affect the accidents. Many studies have analyzed the severity of injuries and types of accidents; however, there were few studies on the prediction of injured body parts. This study aims to develop a classification model to predict the part of the injured body based on accident-related factors. Construction accident cases from June 2018 to July 2021 provided by the Korea Construction Safety Management Integrated Information were collected through web crawling and then preprocessed. A naïve Bayes classifier, one of the supervised learning algorithms, was employed to construct a classification model of the injured body part, which has four categories: 1) torso, 2) upper extremity, 3) head, and 4) lower extremity. The predictor variables are accident type, type of work, facility type, injury source, and activity type. As a result, the average accuracy for each injured body part was 50.4%. The accuracy of the upper extremity and lower extremity was relatively higher than the cases of the torso and head. Unlike the other classifications, such as spam mail filtering, a naïve Bayes classifier does not provide a good classification performance in construction accidents. The reasons are discussed in the study. Based on the results of this study, more detailed guidelines for construction safety management can be provided, which help establish safety measures at the construction site.
