  • The purpose of this study is to analyze some related factors affecting consumer values and compulsive buying and to investigate the relationship between consumer value types and compulsive buying behavior. Data were collected from 481 college students at Seoul and Ulsan in Korea and at Nagasaki in Japan. The results indicated that consumer value types were differentiated by the age and the region(Ulsan, Seoul, and Nagasaki) and compulsive buying was differentiated by the region. Among the 8 sub-dimensions of consumer values, the college students in Ulsan showed a relatively high level of humanism familism and authoritarianism while those in Seoul showed a relatively high level of materialism and futurism The college students in Nagasaki showed a relatively high level of hedonism For the compulsive buying behavior, the college students in Seoul have the highest level, Nagasaki the middle level, and Ulsan the lowest level of compulsive buying. And four types of consumer values are identified: 'Satisfied-in-Present'; 'Pursuing-Power- Oriented-Value'; 'Pursuing-Current-Satisfaction', and 'Pursing-Future'. It was found that college student in Seoul, Usa and Nagasaki were classified into different types. The college students in Seoul were classified to , Usu in , and Nagasaki to . For the relationship between four types of consumer values and compulsive buying, showed the highest level, and the middle level, and the lowest level of compulsive buying.

  • Chitosan is applied as a dressing for oral mucous wound and a tampon following radical treatment of maxillary sinus. Furthermore, it is being investigated as an absorbing membrane for endodontic and periodontic surgeries. A few studies have reported osteoconduction and osteogenesia at the site of chitosan implant in vivo. However, compared with soft tissue healing processes, the mechanisms concerning effects of chitosan for biological mineralization have not yet been resoil In the present study, we studied the gene expression pattern using cDNA microarray and RT-PCR analyses in hard tissue forming osteoblasts cultured with water-soluble and low molecular weight chitooligosaccharide. cDNA microarray analysis revealed that 16 genes were expressed at 〉1.5-fold higher signal ratio levels in the experimental group compared with the control group after 3 days. RT-PCR analysis showed that chitosan oligomer induced an increase in the expression of two genes, CD56 antigen and tissue-type plasminogen activator. Furthermore, the expression of mRNAs for BMP-2 was almost identical in the experimental and control groups after 3 days of culture, but slightly increased after 7 days of culture with chitosan oligomer. These results suggest that a super-low concentration of chitooligosaccharide could modulate the activity of osteoblastic cells through mRNA levels and that the genes concerning cell proliferation and differentiation can be controlled by water-soluble chitosan.

  • A new flux observer based vector control system of an induction motor is constructed by using an observer in which the commanded stator currents are used to estimate the rotor flux. In this system, the flux observer is formulated by using a model of induction motor in a stationary coordinate system. By considering an observer of induction motor in a fixed co-ordinate system located on its secondary flux, a slip frequency controlled type of vector control system is also proposed. From these control schemes, the relation between the conventional slip frequency controlled type system and the observer based one is clarified. The steady-state error of the developed torque which is caused by the parameter change of induction motor is analyzed and discussed for the selection of observer gains. The poles of the observer error dynamics and those of the observer based vector control system are calculated analytically by neglecting the machine parameter change. In order to analyze the robust stability, a linear model of the observer based vector control system is proposed taking into account the machine parameter change. By using this model, the trajectories of the poles and zeros of the torque transfer function are computed and discussed. To test validity of the theoretical analysis, experiments are conducted by using a digital signal processor (TMS320C30) and a current controlled voltage source PWM inverter.

  • A wearable sensor system is proposed as a man-machine interface to control a device for walking assistance. The sensor system is composed of small sensors to detect the information about the user's body motion such as the activity level of skeletal muscles and the acceleration of each body parts. Each sensor includes a microcomputer and all the sensors are connected into a network by using the serial communication function of the microcomputer. The whole network is integrated into a belt made of soft fabric, thus, users can put on/off very easily. The sensor system is very reliable because of its decentralized network configuration. The body information obtained from the sensor system is used for controlling the assisting device to achieve a comfortable and an effective walking training.

  • This paper presents a mechanical sensorless vector-controlled system with parameter identification by the aid of image processor. Based on the flux observer and the model reference adaptive system method, the proposed sensorless system includes rotor speed estimation and stator resistance identification using flux errors. Since the mathematical model of this system is constructed in a synchronously rotating reference frame, a linear model is easily derived for analyzing the system stability, including motor operating state and parameter variations. Because it is difficult to identify rotor resistance simultaneously while estimating rotor speed, a low-accuracy image processor is used to measure the mechanical axis position for calculating the rotor speed at a steady-state operation. The rotor resistance is identified by the error between the estimated speed using the estimated flux and the calculated speed using the image processor. Finally, the validity of this proposed system has been proven through experimentation.

  • We introduce an autonomous flying system using a model-helicopter. A feature of the helicopter is that autonomous flight is realized on the low-cost compact model-helicopter. Our helicopter system is divided into two parts. One is on the helicopter, and the other is on the land. The helicopter is loaded with a vision sensor and an electronic compass including a tilt sensor. The control system on the land monitors the helicopter movement and controls. We firstly introduce the configuration of our helicopter system with a vision sensor and an electronic compass. To determine the 3-D position and posture of helicopter, a technique of image recognition using a monocular image is described based on the idea of the sensor fusion of vision and electronic compass. Finally, we show an experiment result, which we obtained in the hovering. The result shows the effectiveness of our system in the compact model-helicopter.

  • In this paper we propose two feedfroward unbalance compensation algorithms, they accommodate changes of rotor dynamics including rotating speed. The first one determine the compensating signals by identifying system dynamics successively. Whereas, the second one is more primitive like PID algorithm without identifying system dynamics.

  • This paper describes a systein which enables a fast 3 -dimensional profile measurement using a slit-ray projection method. One distinctive feature of this system is that a real-time video is processor is employed in order to reduce the amount of image data to be processed without eliminating essential information. Experimental results show that a calibrating method presented for the TV camera and the slit-ray projector is convenient and enables sufficient accurate measurements.
