This research is targeting that estimate the effect on cement concrete pavement with type of chloride deicers. In order to this study objective, when chloride deicers were spread on road surface, thermal characteristics test was conducted. Also, skid resistance test according to types and concentration of chloride deicier, road surface conditions were investigated. As a test results, thermal characteristics with kind of chloride deicier could know that sodium chloride(NaCl) is exothermic reactive material, calcium chloride$(CaCl_2)$ is endothermic reactive material. And, in case of mixed salt of the calcium and sodium chloride, it could know that can change to the exothermic or endothermic reaction according to dosage ratios. Skid value by British Pendulum Tester(BPT) has shown that it is seldom difference between the types($CaCl_2$, NaCl, mixed salt) and solution concentrations(0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 4.0, $10\%$) of chloride deicier comparing with tap water except mixed salt($10\%$ solution concentration).
This study was to compare the geological occurrences and geneses of the Myogi, Tsukinuno, Dobuyama and Kawasaki bentonite deposits distributed in the Tertiary sedimentary basins of NE Japan, and to compare the mineralogical and physicochemical properties of their bentonites. The Japanese bentonite deposits are mainly distributed in the Green-tuff region which was formed in Neogene. The shape of ore body of the Myogi, Tsukinuno and Kawasaki deposits formed by the diagenesis are layered and stratiform. In contrast to this, the Dobuyama deposit formed by hydrothermal alteration shows the cone shape. The mineralization age of four deposits are 1.8 ~ 21 Ha from Early Miocene to Pliocene. The Dobuyama bentonite with the highest montmorillonite content shows the highest surface area, CEC, MB adsorption, and strengths. The Tsukinuno bentonite with a little high montmorillonite content is characterized by strong alkalinity, high viscosity and swelling. The Kawasaki bentonite, the Na-Ca mixed type, shows higher viscosity and swelling than the Ca-type Dobuyama bentonite. The Myogi bentonite with the lowest montmorillonite content shows the properties of low viscosity, In adsorption, strengths and a little high CEC and surface area. The high CEC and surface area of this deposit is due to the sufficient occurrence of zeolite. A strong dispersion in the Na-type bentonite and a strong flocculation in the Ca-type bentonite took place, and both the types show a slow flocculation with time. The physicochemical properties of the bentonite are mainly controlled by the montmorillonite content, interlayer cations, and impurity minerals such as zeolite. But bentonites inconsistent to this factors are sometimes occurred. This is maybe due to the crystal chemistry such as layer charge of montmorillonite and crystal morphology of montmorillonite such as aspect ratio.
Environmental isotope $^{18}O$, $^{2}H$, $^{3}H$,$^{13}C$, $^{34}S$and $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$) studies on ${CO_2}$-rich waters in the Kangwon Province were carried out to elucidate the origin, residence time, water-rock interaction and mixing process of their. ${\delta}^{18}O$ and ${\delta}D$ data indicate that ${CO_2}$-rich waters were derived from the local meteoric water. It also shows that each type of ${CO_2}$-rich water has distinct isotopic composition and Na-${HCO_3}$ type water (-10.8 to -12.1${\textperthousand}$, ${\delta}^{18}O$ ) is lighter than other type waters. These depleted isotopic values supposedly indicate that, considering the altitude effect of isotope in Korea, the recharge area of Na-${HCO_3}$ type water can be estimated to be relatively higher in elevation than those of Ca-${HCO_3}$ and Ca-Na-${HCO_3}$ type waters. Tritium contents close to zero are observed in the Na-${HCO_3}$ type water, confirming a long residence time and the possibility of a ${CO_2}$ inflow into the aquifer at great depth. These isotope data also show that the Ca-${HCO_3}$ type water has undergone mixing process with surface water during ascending at depth, whereas Na-${HCO_3}$ type water was less mixed with surface waters. The carbon isotope data (-8.8 to +0.8 ${\textperthousand}$${\delta}^{13}C$) indicate that dissolved carbon in the ${CO_2}$-rich waters was possibly derived from deep seated ${CO_2}$ gas. The high ${\delta}^{34}S$ values (up to 38.1${\textperthousand}$) of dissolved sulfates suggest that sulfate reduction by microbial activity had occurred at depth. Strontium isotopic data ($^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$) of ${CO_2}$-rich waters indicate that the chemistry of the ${CO_2}$-rich waters is determined by water-rock (granite) interaction.
In this study, a co-axial flow induced microfluidic chip to fabricate pure collagen type I microfiber via the control of collagen type I and Na-alginate gelation process. The pure collagen type I microfiber was generated by selective degradation of Ca-alginate from 'Core-Shell' structured hydrogel microfiber. To make 'Core-Shell' structure, collagen type I solution was introduced into core channel and 1.5% Na-alginate solution was injected into side channel in microfluidic chip. To evaluatethe 'Core-Shell' structure, the red and green fluorescence substances were mixed into collagen type I and Na-alginate solution, respectively. The fluorescence substances were uniformly loaded into each fiber, and the different fluorescence images were dependent on their location. By immoblizing EpH4-Ras and C6 cells within collagen type I and Na-alginate solution, we sucessfully demonstrated the co-culture of EpH4-Ras and C6 cells with 'Core-Shell' like hydrogel microfiber for 5 days. Only to produce pure collagen type I hydrogel fiber, tri-sodium citrate solution was used to dissolve the shell-like Ca-alginate hydrogel fiber from 'Core-Shell' structured hydrogel microfiber, which is an excellent advantage when the fiber is employed in three-dimensional scaffold. This novel method could apply various application in tissue engineering and biomedical engineering.

Geochemical and isotope studies on the groundwater system of the Youngcheon area were carried out. Most groundwaters belong to Ca-$HCO_3$ and Ca-$SO_4$ types and some groundwaters belong to Na-$HCO_3$ type. Geochemical characteristics of these groundwaters were mainly affected by their basement rocks around the boreholes. High $SO_4$ content of groundwater is the result of reaction with sulfate or sulfide minerals in the host rock. Ca was originated from the carbonate minerals in the sedimentary rock. After the groundwater was saturated with calcite, the Na-$HCO_3$ type groundwaters were evolved by the reaction with plagioclase for a relatively long residence time. This explanation was supported by low tritium contents of Na-$HCO_3$ type groundwaters. ${\delt}a^{18}O$ and ${\delta}D$ data indicate that the groundwaters are of meteoric water origin and there was no difference between the various types of waters. Grondwaters from the boreholes BH-1, BH-9 and BH-12 showed the geochemical and isotopic characteristics of deep groundwater. Most borehole groundwaters except them did not show the systematic geochemical variations with sampling depth indicating that the shallow and deep groundwaters were mixed with each other throughout the study area. The results of water quality analysis indicate that the study area is highly contaminated by the introduction of agricultural sewage.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of combinations of different accelerators mixed on the early age strength development of concrete of 21 to 27MPa in the curing temperature of $10^{\circ}C$ compared with existing early strength agent. The present study was assessed the early strength development of combinations of three different accelerating admixtures with early strength type agent comparing to single accelerating admixture with early strength type agent. As a result of this study, the effect of $CaBr_2+NaSCN+DEA$ combination on strength development showed better than $CaBr_2$ or NaSCN alone with early strength type agent. Therefore, we observed that concrete using $CaBr_2+NaSCN+DEA$ combination with early strength agent was achieved 5MPa 12hours earlier than use of $CaBr_2$ or NaSCN alone.
The experiments to produce the vaterite type calcium carbonate were conducted for using the waste oyster shell as the recycling resources. Firstly, the oyster shell were calcinated at 800 ℃ for 24 h. Calcinated oyster shell were reacted with the nitric acid solution, and were diluted to 0.1 M Ca(NO3)2 solution. This solution was mixed with 0.1 M Na2CO3 contained 0.1 mol lysine/1 mol CaO at 20 ℃ and 600 rpm mixing condition for 1 h. The reaction products were identified to vaterite type calcium carbonate (84.5% vaterite, 15.5% calcite) by XRD and SEM analysis. Mean particle diameter was 6.87 ㎛, and the lysine content in calcium carbonate was analyzed to 0.1%.
Mica-type minerals (illites) in the shales of the Jigunsan formation at Seokgaejae in Samchuk-City, Gangwon-do are studied using electron probe micro analysis (EPMA). The average chemical formula of the mica-type mineral obtained from the quantitative analysis is $(K_{1.17}Na_{0.04}Ca_{0.01})(Al_{2.80}Mg_{1.17}Fe_{0.78})(Si_{6.34}Al_{1.66})O_{20}(OH)_4$, which shows a chemical formula within the range of illite. These illites so called can be considered as mixed-phases among muscovite, pyrophyllite and chlorite due to the low contents of interlayer cations and high Mg, Fe. The formula of illite is separated into those three minerals and the method for the separation is newly formulated and proposed in this study. From the formula of illite, the content of muscovite is estimated from K (Na and Ca included), the content of chlorite by Mg+Fe, and the rest remains as pyrophyllite. The chemical formula of muscovite can be calculated by subtracting the compositions of pyrophyllite and chlorite from the analyzed composition of illite using an ideal formula for pyrophyllite and analyzed average formula for chlorite. The calculated formula of muscovite is supposed to be stoichiometric in principle. The result of the separation of analyzed illite is 61% muscovite, 27.3% chlorite and 11.7% pyrophyllite and the calculated formula of muscovite after separation is $(K,Na,Ca)_{2.00}Al_{3.69}(Si_{6.75}Al_{1.25})O_{20}(OH)_4$. The calculated formula of muscovite slightly low in Al content can be considered to be reasonable in general when the low content of Al in the rock and the uncertainties of chlorite compositions used in the calculation are counted. This supports that the method of separation proposed in this study is also applicable.

The objective of this study was to determine the growth characteristics of cool (C1) and warm season grasses (C2) in pastures mixed with C1 and C2 at an altitude of 400 m in Jeju island to establishing pasture suitable for grazing horses and to evaluate the effect of pastures mixed with tall and short type grasses on the intake characteristics of horses. C1 used in this study was Kentucky bluegrass, redtop (short type grass) and tall type grasses were orchardgrass and tall fescue, respectively. Treatments of this study were consisted of four groups and the short type grass used in pastures mixed with C1 and C2 was mainly bermudagrass. Four treatment groups were follow as; Treatment 1 (bermudagrass + Kentucky bluegrass + redtop) 2) Treatment 2 (bermudagrass + tall fescue + orchardgrass) 3) Treatment 3 (Kentucky bluegrass + redtop) 4) Treatment 4 (tall fescue + orchardgrass). Bermudagrass was a little winter killing and inhibition of plant growth at an altitude of 400 m. Plant heights in pastures mixed with C1 and C2 were grown better than that in pastures mixed with C1. Especially, plant height in Treatment 4 was higher than other treatments. Dry matter yield was in the following order: Treatment 4> Treatment 3> Treatment 2> Treatment 1. Dry matter yield in pastures mixed with C1 increased as compared with pastures mixed with C1 and C2. Dry matter yield in Treatment 3 was higher than other treatments. In the first investigation regarding vegetation distribution, bermudagrass ratios among grasses in Treatment 1 and Treatment 2 were 11.7 and 13.3%, respectively. The growth of bermudagrass in winter was low due to the cold damage. However the growth of Kentucky bluegrass, redtop, tall fescue and orchardgrass was good. In the second investigation, bermudagrass ratios among grasses in Treatment 1 and Treatment 2 were 5.0 and 11.7%, respectively. Growth of forage in the second investigation was poor as compared to the first investigation. nutritive values(crude protein content, neutral detergent fiber content, acid detergent fiber content, digestibility) were good in pastures mixed with C1 Especially, nutritive values in pastures mixed with tall was higher than those of pastures mixed short grasses. P content among minerals in Treatment 1 was higher than other groups. However, the content of Ca, Mg and Mn were lower. The contents of Ca, K, Mg, Na, Cu, Zn and Fe in Treatment 2 were higher. However, the contents of K, Mg, Na, Cu, Zn and Fe in Treatment 3 were lower. Therefore, we suggest that cool season grasses with short grasses were sowed to establishing pasture suitable for grazing horses at an altitude of 400 m in Jeju island.
The Kumho River flows through volcanic and sedimentary rocks at upstream and downstream regions and also through industrial district including dyeing complex before it meets the Nakdong River, and as a result, many factors can influence the geochemistry of river water. The concentrations of dissolved ions generally increased as it flows downstream. The concentrations of cations are in the order of Ca>Na>Mg>K, and those of anions are $HCO_3$>$SO_4$>Cl>$NO_3$. These results show that the weathering of sandstone and shale containing carbonate including calcite caused the enrichment of Ca and $HCO_3$. At first 4 sampling sites, Si contents are relatively high mainly due to the weathering of silicate minerals of volcanic rocks. However, Na and $SO_4$ contents are higher at downstream sites due to the industrial and municipal sewage. Piper diagram also shows that the geochemical patterns changed from Ca-$HCO_3$ to Ca-Cl/Ca-$SO_4$ and Na-Cl/Na-$SO_4$ type. When comparing the samples collected in May and July, the concentrations of dissolved ions in July are generally lower than those in May, which indicates that dilution by precipitation played an important role. In July the relative concentration of Ca increased, indicating that Ca in soils probably from fertilizer were mixed into the river water by precipitation. The river waters are mainly from precipitation. The dissolved ions are mainly from weathering of carbonate minerals and pollutants from municipal sewage and discharged water from industrial complex. The composition of oxygen and deutrium isotope in July showed higher values, which is contrary to the amount effect, maybe due to Youngchon Dam. The nitrogen isotope showed lower values in July than those in May, which can be interpreted to indicate mixing of nitrate from soils and fertilizer in the cultivated land by the heavy rain. The isotope composition of nitrate increased downstream, indicating that the influence of sewage and animal manure also increased downstream.
