Voice-based messenger using NXT touch-sensor input unit and the Bluetooth wireless communication for the blind (터치 센서 입력기와 블루투스 무선 통신을 이용한 시각 장애인용 음성 기반 메신저)

  • Many people have conveniently used various messengers to talk with remote friends or to send urgent files to remote co-workers. Recently, it is also possible to use messenger with user's image. However, these messenger technologies are of no use for the blind. In order to cope with this problem, we propose voice-based messenger with a Braille system for the blind. The proposed messenger enables the blind to listen to the received sentences from remote user. It also enables them to listen to the written sentences before sending to remote user for the purpose of checking that the sentences are correctly written. The Braille system for writing sentences can be implemented by using the programmable NXT system, which contains a 32-bit ARM-7 micro-controller, with 4 touch-sensors. Finally, we apply the Bluetooth technology for wireless communication between the Braille system and the proposed messenger.

A Learning Method of Stack and Queue through Solving Maze Exploration Problems with Robots (로봇의 미로 탐색 문제해결을 통한 스택과 큐 학습 방안)

  • ICT education guidelines revised in 2005 reinforce computer science elements such as algorithm, data structure, and programming covering all schools. And Ministry of Education emphasizes STEAM education. Most important is that "How instruct them". This means necessity of contents. So this paper suggests learning method of Stack and Queue using LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT. The main purpose is that how stack and queue are used, when robot explore realistic maze. Teaching and learning strategies are algorithm, flowchart, and NXT-G programming. Simple maze has path in left or right, but complex maze has three-way intersection. These are developed by authors. Master robot explores maze and push stack, and then return to entrance using stack. Master robot explores maze and transmits path to slave's queue. And then slave robot drives without exploration. Students can naturally learn principles and applications of them. Through these studies, it can improves ability of logical and creative thinking. Furthermore it can apply to ICT and STEAM education.

  • 네트워크 기반의 씬 클라이언트 로봇은 내장된 리소스가 부족하지만 네트워크를 통해 이를 극복하려는 로봇이다. 씬 클라이언트 로봇에는 부족한 내장 리소스를 네트워크를 통해 효과적으로 운영하기 위한 디바이스 맵 프로토콜과 로봇 제어 및 개발 플랫폼으로써 로보이드 스튜디오가 제안되어 있다. 현재 로보이드 스튜디오는 공개 소프트웨어 방식으로 다양한 로봇을 지원하지만, 아직은 실제 지원되는 로봇의 종류가 부족하다. 따라서 새로운 로봇에 대한 이식 지원 방법과 다양한 이식 환경 속에서 문제점을 찾아 해결해야 한다. 우리는 첫 번째로 씬 클라이언트 로봇보다는 내장 리소스가 풍부하며, 광범위한 사용자층을 갖고 있는 LEGO NXT를 선택하여 로보이드 스튜디오 운영 및 개발 환경의 이식 절차를 제안하고, 로보이드 스튜디오 프레임워크가 제공하는 네트워크 기반 로봇 제어 기술의 성능을 검증한다.

In Vitro Study on the Bond Strength Between 3D-Printed Resin and Resin Cement for Pediatric Crown Restoration (소아용 크라운 수복을 위한 3D 프린팅 레진과 레진 시멘트 간의 접착 강도 평가)

  • A 3D-printed resin crown is a novel option for esthetic crown restoration for primary teeth, which are typically bonded with resin cement. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bonding ability of a 3D printing resin and compare it with other indirect resin materials for crown fabrication. The shear bond strengths of two 3D printing resin materials, Graphy (GP) and NextDent (NXT), and two indirect resin materials, VIPI Block (VIPI) and MAZIC Duro (MZ), were compared in the study. For all materials, the shear bond strength at the interface between the surface of the resin material and resin cement was measured. The mean shear bond strength values of GP, NXT, MZ, and VIPI were 23.29 ± 3.88, 26.14 ± 4.67, 25.41 ± 4.03, and 18.79 ± 4.26 MPa, respectively. There was no significant difference among the SBSs of GP, NXT and MZ except for VIPI. The result of this study indicates that the 3D printing resin meets the essential requirement for clinical use by showing clinically adequate bond strength.

  • Virtual Robot Education System (VRES), which is for programming education with a Lego Mindstorm NXT robot, is designed and implemented. Through this system, program learners can edit source code, compile, download it into the robot, and run their executive program. In order to observe it, the system includes web cameras and provide monitoring services. Thus, students are able to verify the operation of robot into which they download their program in detail and to debug if necessary. In addition, we design a new simple user-friendly programming language and a corresponding compiler for it. With those tools, learner can more easily create programs for NXT robot and test them than Java language. A educator can control and manage the robot for the subject of a class with direct control mode of our system. Therefore, the proposed system is able to support students to learn robot programming during or after regular classes with web browsers through Internet.

  • This paper deals with the selection method of effective engineering design problem based on LEGO Mindstorm NXT for basic design education. By YouTube case study of various LEGO-based engineering designs for olympic sports, performance criteria have been developed including programming complexity, structural complexity, sensor/actuator complexity and variety of game operation. Programming complexity includes range of programming code length and possible program variety. Structural complexity includes variety of structural elements such as length, shape, weight, and volume to overcome design restrictions. Sensor/actuator complexity includes variety of sensor used and number of possible actuator assemblies. Variety of game operation includes game complexity and required creativity to make LEGO robots. Based on these performance criteria, four representative sports were selected as the candidates for effective engineering design problem. Finally, feasibility and attributes of each candidate were verified by real implementation examples.

Effects of Naoxintong-containing serum on NO and CGRP in rat cerebral microvascular endothelial cells

  • Effects of Naoxintong (NXT, a formula of Chinese Materia Medica)-containing serum on Nitrogen monoxide (NO) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) in rat cerebral microvascular endothelial cells (rCMEC) was investigated, rCMEC was injured in vitro by incubating for 4 hours at 100% NO in a hypoxia chamber. The results indicated that NXT could antagonize the reduction of NO and CGRP secreted by rCMEC during hypoxia, the effect of which was dose-dependent. After treated with NXT-containing serum at dosage of 5.0 - 30 and 50 -1.1 g/kg/U respectively, the amount of NO and CGRP secreted by rCMEC were remarkably increased during hypoxia in vitro.

  • The physical disabled are using various types of assistive devices and reading assistance device is have been researched and development. After all reading assistance device which being marketed present for the physical disabled's features is simply limited to turing the page. In this paper, Implemented prototype model of the reading assistance device for the physical disabled that is have designed to modify to improve the success rate of turing page and conjunction with mobile devices such as PDA to provide more convenient and useful features. And not only for the disabled then take a look at Universal design concept of view of the tool can be useful the public also.

  • 오늘날 네비게이션 시스템이 대부분의 차량에 필수장비가 될 정도로 GPS는 우리도 모르게 많이 사용되고 있고 많은 연구가 진행되어 있다. 그러나 대부분 차량용 네비게이션은 도로의 정보를 통하여 GPS의 불확실한 정보를 보정하게 되지만 도로정보를 참조할 수 없는 해상이나 공중에서 사용하기 위해서는 보정이 어려운 것이 사실이다. 본 논문에서는 이동로봇에 대하여 일반 도로가 아닌 개활지에서의 자율주행을 목표로 한 시스템을 개발하였다. 연구내용으로는 NXT 로봇과 Compass Sensor, 그리고 Bluetooth GPS를 이용하여 도로의 정보가 없이 로봇의 위치를 보정하였고, 목표점까지의 거리와 각도를 계산한 후 자율 주행이 가능하도록 LabView로 프로그래밍 하였다. 결과적으로 NXT 로봇의 목표지점간 최적이동 알고리즘을 구현하였고 실험을 통하여 이를 증명하였다.

  • 최근 스마트폰의 수요증가와 대중화로 인하여 스마트폰을 활용한 다양한 연구가 진행 되고 있다. 이중 항만 물류 하역 시스템에도 스마트폰과 관련된 관심이 높아져 스마트폰을 이용한 다양한 서비스를 지원하고 그에 따른 다양한 프로젝트도 진행 중에 있다. 항만 물류 시스템은 중앙관리실에서 자동화된 시스템으로 관리되고 있으며 이중 하역장비 운용은 관리자가 중앙 관리실에서 원격으로 제어 하고 있다. 이는 관리자가 자리에 위치해 있어야만 관리가 가능하기 때문에 관리자의 이동성을 보장 하지 못한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 스마트폰으로 하역장비를 원격제어 할 수 있도록 하여 관리자의 이동성을 보장하고 보다 효율적인 작업이 가능하도록 설계하였다. 또한 이를 테스트 해보기 위해 항만 하역장비 원격제어 시스템을 Lego_NXT를 이용하여 프로토타입으로 제시한다.
