UMP Unbiased Test for the Infection Rate in Group Testing

  • When test outcomes of units are dichotomous and he infection rate is small group testing is more efficient that noe-to-one testing in estimating the true p and classifying units as infected or not. In this paper two-sided hypothesis testing and confidence intervals are derived based on the UMP(uniformly most powerful) unbiased test. The UMP unbiased approach is compared with Thompson's and Bhattacharyya et al.'s approaches by computing the length of confidence intervals and capture probabilities and shown to have a number of desirable properties. Unequal allocation one of advantages of the proposed approach is also mentioned.

  • There are a number of studies on the peculiarities of inflation in underdeveloped economies. These studies are, however, confined to the cases of Latin American countries, and the essence of methodologies applied in the studies is basically estimations of linear parameters of an extended quantity equation with lagged variables. As it is generally observed, inflation in most of underdeveloped economies are, to some extent, affected by non-economic factors such as political instability, social disorder, abrupt institutional changes, etc. Sometimes, these factors underlying the basic movement of price level change are reflected in such variables as quantity of money supply, income velocity, gross national product.

  • Northcott and Mckerrow proved that if R is a left noe-therian ring and E is an injective left R-module, then E[x-1] is an injective left R[x]-module. In this paper we generalize Northcott and McKerrow's result so that if R is a left noetherian ring and E is an in-jective left R-module, then E[x-S] is an injective left R[xS]-module, where S is a submonoid of N (N is the set of all natural numbers).

  • The structures of the compounds, 1, 2, 3, and 4, which were precursors of analgesics, were confirmed by modern NMR techniques. The complete $^{13}C-NMR$ assignments of these systems were established by applying COLOC (COrrelated spectroscopy for LOng range Couplings), HETCOR (HETeronuclear CORrelated spectroscopy), RCT (Relay Coherence Transfer), and NOE difference spectroscopy. The limitation of COLOC approach which has been widely used recently is discussed.

Solution State Structure of P1, the Mimetic Peptide Derived from IgM Antigen Apo B-100 by NMR

  • Apolipoprotein B-100 (Apo-B100) is a major component of low density lipoprotein (LDL). Apo B-100 protein has 4,536 amino acid sequence and these amino acids are classified into peptide groups A to G with subsequent 20 amino acids (P1-P302). The peptide groups were act as immunoglobulin (Ig) antigens which oxidized via malondialdehyde (MDA). The mimetic peptide P1 (EEEMLENVSLVCPKDAT RFK) out of D-group peptides carrying the highest value of IgG antigens were selected for structural studies that may provide antigen specificity. Circular Dichroism (CD) spectra were measured for peptide secondary structure in the range of 190-250 nm. Experimental results show that P1 exhibit partial of ${\beta}-sheet$ and random coil structure. Homonuclear (COSY, TOCSY, NOESY) 2D-NMR experiments were carried out for NMR signal assignments and structure determination for P1. On the basis of these completely assigned NMR spectra and distance data, distance geometry (DG) and Molecular dynamics (MD) were carried out to determine the structures of P1. The proposed structure was selected by comparisons between experimental NOE spectra and back calculated 2D NOE results from determined structure showing acceptable agreement. The total Root-Mean-Square-Deviation (RMSD) value of P1 obtained upon superposition of all atoms was in the range $0.33{\AA}$. The solution state P1 has mixed structure of ${\beta}-sheet$ (Glu[1] to Cys[12]) and random coil (Pro[13] to Lys[20]). These NMR results are well consistent with secondary structure from experimental results of circular dichroism. Structural studies based on NMR may contribute to the studies of atherosclerosis and observed conformational characteristics of apo B-100 in LDL using monoclonal antibodies.

S/KEY를 개선한 일회용 패스워드 메커니즘 개발 (The Development of a One-time Password Mechanism Improving on S/KEY)

  • 이 논문에서는 S/KEY 메커니즘에서 사용 횟수 제한과 사전에 키를 만들어 저장해야 하는 중요한 문제점을 해결한 일회용 패스워드 메커니즘을 제안하다. 제안한 일회용 패스워드로부터 인증용키를 생성함으로써 인증용 키관리를 용이하게 하고, 인증과 더불어 클라이언트와 서버간의 통신 세션키의 분배도 가능하게 한다. 그리고 제안한 메커니즘은 스마트 카드를 이용함으로 인증 정보의 보호 및 관리가 용이하며, 서버의 challenge가 없는 클라이언트에서 서버로의 단방향 인증을 필요로 하는 시스템에 바로 적용된다. In this paper we propose a one-time password mechanism that solves the problems of the S/KEY: the limitation of a usage and the need of storage for keys. because of using a cryptographic algorithm the proposed mechanism has no the limitation of a usage. Also because of producing the key for an authentication from a user's password it is easy to manage the authentication key and is possible to share the session key between a client and a server after the authentication process. In addition the proposed mechanism is easy to protect and manage the authentication information because of using a smart card and is adopted by the system that needs a noe-way authentication from a client to a server without the challenge of a server.

The Structural Studies of Biomimetic Peptides P99 Derived from Apo B-100 by NMR

  • Apolipoprotein B-100 (apo B-100), the main protein component that makes up LDL (Low density lipoprotein), consists of 4,536 amino acids and serves to combine with the LDL receptor. The oxidized LDL peptides by malondialdehyde (MDA) or acetylation in vivo were act as immunoglobulin (Ig) antigens and peptide groups were classified into 7 peptide groups with subsequent 20 amino acids (P1-P302). The biomimetic peptide P99 (KGTYG LSCQR DPNTG RLNGE) out of B-group peptides carrying the highest value of IgM antigens were selected for structural studies that may provide antigen specificity. Circular Dichroism (CD) spectra were measured for peptide secondary structure in the range of 190-260 nm. Experimental results show that P99 has pseudo α-helice and random coil structure. 주택 특성에 대한 내재가격 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimation the Inplicit Price of Housing Characteristics According to Tenure Type and Region)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the analytical model of the implicit price according to objective and subjective characteristics of housing. The hedonic price regression was used for estimating the implicit price. The subjectives of this study were 1,143 dwellers who live in Seoul metropolitan area. Taejeon, and Jeonju. Satistical analyses were conducted using frequencies, percentiles, mean, and multiple regression. The major findings were as follows: 1. There was a significant difference in the implict price of the apartment between owners and renters. 2. There was a sginificant difference in the implicit price of the apartment among Seoul metropolitan area, Taejeon, and Jeonju. 3. Using a stepwise multiple regression method, the order of variables as they were entered in the model were different between tenure types (owner/renter), and regions(Seoul metroplitan area/Taejeon/Jeonju). 4. The linear model was the most appropriate noe which explained the housing price. 5. Subjective characteristics of housing in Taejeon and Jeonju had an effect on the housing price more than those in Seoul metropolitan area.
