차세대 고온초전도 선재를 이용한 영구전류시스템의 히터트리거 특성 해석 (A Characteristic Analysis of Heater Triggered Persistent Current System with 2G High Tc Superconducting Tape)

  • This paper deals with design of heater trigger switching in a persistent current system(PCS) by finite element method(FEM) analysis of YBCO coated conductor(CC) tape. Most promising superconducting wire is YBCO coated conductor tape in these days for its high n value and critical current independency from external magnetic field. It is expected to be used many superconducting application such as fault current limiter and cable etc. The superconducting magnet which is operated in persistent current mode in SMES, NMR, MRI and MAGLEV has many advantages such as a high uniformity of a magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss. A PCS system consists of magnet power supply (MPS) which energized current to a magnet, heater, a coated conductor tape for switching, and superconducting magnet. In this paper, the characteristic of thermal quench of the YBCO CC tape and BSCCO tape by heater trigger analyzed by FEM. And optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. This heater trigger analysis is expected to be a basic concept of PCS application design.

  • A high speed NMR quality evaluation sensor was designed , constructed and tested . The device consists of an NMR spectrometer coupled to a conveyor system. The conveyor was run at speeds ranging from 0 to 250 mm/s. Spectral of avocado fruits and one-dimensional magnetic resonance images of pickled olives were acquired while the samples were moving on a conveyor belt mounted through a 20Tesla NMR magnet with a 20 mm diameter surface coil and a 150 mm diameter imaging coil respectively. Fro a magnetic resonance spectrum analysis, motion through variations in the magnetic field tends to narrow spectral line width just like using sample rotation in high resolution NMR to narrow spectral line width. Spectrum analysis was used to detect the dry weight of avocado fruits using the ratio oil and water resonance peaks. Good correlations maximum r=0.970@ 50 mm/s and minimum r=0.894@250mm/s ) between oil and water resonance peak ratio and dry weight of avocados were observed at speeds ra ging from0 to 250mm/s. For the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method, the projections were used to distinguish between pitted and non-pitted olives . Effect of fruit position in the coil was tested and coil degree effects were noticed when projects were generated under dynamic conditions. Various belt speeds (up to 250mm/s) were tested and detection results were compared to static measurements. Higher classification errors were occurred at dynamic conditions compared to errors while olives were at rest.

  • In this paper, we present the main research results on the 2 Tesla class - superconducting MRI magnet which we have developed. Multi section type superconducting MRI main coil and various superconducting shims were designed and fabricated for obtaining the high field homogeneity, which is requested in the MR imaging. After assembling the magnet with room temperature bore cryostat field homogenity has been measured and analyzed by NMR field mapping system. According to this, field homogeneity of 22 ppm / 30 cm dsv was confirmed.

  • NMR이나 MRI와 같은 고자장을 필요로 하는 마그넷은 높은 운전전류를 갖는 초전도 선재를 이용하여 제작된다. 이때 마그넷은 여러 코일을 겹쳐서 제작하는 것이 일반적이고, 크게 내측마그넷과 외측 마그넷으로 구분할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 15T 외측마그넷 안에서 동작하는 5T급 내측마그넷의 설계 과정을 나타내었다. 내측마그넷은 2세대 고온초전도 선재를 이용하여 설계되고, 4.2K의 액체헬륨 안에서 동작한다. 마그넷의 임계전류는 초전도 선재의 $I_c$-B 특성을 고려하여 산정하였고, 임계전류를 바탕으로 운전전류를 결정하였다. 내측마그넷의 발생자장이 5T를 만족하는 운전전류와 마그넷의 형상을 계산을 통하여 제시하였다.

4.7T 고자장 초전도 자석에서 Tailored RF를 이용한 고양이 뇌의 자화율 강조영상법에 의한 자기공명혈관 조영술 (Susceptibility-Contrast-Enhanced MR Venography of Cat Brain Using Tailored RF Pulse at High Magnetic Field of 4.7 Tesla Superconducting Magnet)

  • 4.7T의 고자장 자기공명 영상(Magnetic Resonance imaging : MRI) 장치에서 Tailored RF 경사자계반향(Tailored RF Gradient-Echo : TRGE)기법을 이용하여 phantom 영상과 고양이 뇌의 정맥혈관 영상을 얻었다. 증류수에 MgCl$_2$를 섞어 T1을 짧게한 지름 6cm의 원통형 phantom으로 TRGE기법에 대한 검증을 먼저 하였다. 이후 halothane으로 전신 마취된 몸무게 3.0~4.0kg의 고양이 뇌로부터 얻은 시단면(sagittal slice) 영상에서 Dorsal sagittal sinus, Straight sinus, Vein of corpus callosum과 Internal cerebral vein등의 혈관이 강조되어 나타남을 고양이 뇌의 해부학적 그림과 비교해 보였다. Tailored RF 파형은 ASPECT 3000 computer(스위스 BRUKER사 제품)의 PASCAL 언어를 이용하여 제작하였다. 사각형의 절편모양(slice profile)과 원하는 절편의 두께(slice thickness)에 선택절편내에서 절편방향으로 위상분포가 최대 2$\pi$가 되는 bi-linear ramp 모양을 갖는 절편함수를 공간상에서 Fourier 변환시켜 Tailored RF를 만들었다. TR/TE=205/10 msec, 절편두께 TH=7mm, 화소배열수(matrix size)=256$\times$256, 평면해상도(in-plane resolution)=0.62$\times$0.31mm$^2$, 관심영역 크기(field of view : FOV)=8cm의 영상조건으로 자기공명 TRGE 영상을 얻었다.

A study on the effect of the condition number in the magnetic field mapping of the Air-Core solenoid

  • Mapping is a useful tool in the magnetic field analysis and design. In some specific research area, such as the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is important to map the magnetic field in the interesting space with high accuracy. In this paper, an indirect mapping method in the center volume of an air-core solenoid is presented, based on the solution of the Laplace's equation for the field. Through the mathematical analysis on the mapping calculation, we know that the condition number of the matrix, generated by the measurement points, can greatly affect the error of mapping result. Two different arrangement methods of the measurement points in field mapping are described in this paper: helical cylindrical line (HCL) method and parallel cylindrical line (PCL) method. According to the condition number, the HCL method is recommended to measure the field components using one probe. As a simple example, we mapped the magnetic fields in a MRI main magnet system. Comparing the results in the different methods, it is feasible and convenient to apply the condition number to reduce the error in the field mapping calculation. Finally, some guidelines were presented for the magnetic field mapping in the center volume of the air-core solenoid.

  • We have investigated the feasibility study, especially for optimal TR, to obtain 3-D MR neurographic imaging (neurograms or nervography) which shows the distribution of peripheral nerve fibers at the human forearm using 4.7 T magnet. To peform a successful formation of MR neurographic imaging, nerve signal should be separated from the other signal comes from surrounding muscle or fat, because nerves are usually embeded in muscle or fat. Generally, it is well known that nerve has shoter T1 value than that of muscle. Thus, repetition time was optimized to maximize the signal intensity defference between the muscel and nerve. We have also used spin-echo(SE) sequence with long echo time($60{\sim}90\;msec$) to enhance the different signal intensity between muscles and pheriperal nerves base on the fact that muscle tissue has longer T2 relaxation lime than that or nerve.

Bi-2223/Ag 초전도 선재에서 임계전류와 인덱스의 자계의존성 (Magnetic field dependence of critical current and index n in a Bi-2223/Ag superconductor tape)

  • We fabricated Bi-2223/Ag superconductor tape with 55 filaments and estimated the magnetic field dependence of critical current (I$_{c}$) and index n (n) up to 30 T at 4.2 K. The I$_{c}$ and n were characterized as a function of external magnetic field parallel to the tape surface on increasing and decreasing field, using a 35 T hybrid magnet. The $I_{c}$ was estimated to be 325 A, and n was 32, 22, and 26 in the electric field range of $0.1 ∼1\mu$V/cm, 1∼10 $\mu$V/cm, and 0.1∼10 $\mu$V/cm, respectively, under self-field at 4.2 K. It was observed that $I_{c}$ was dependent on magnitude of magnetic field and it decreased exponentially as the field increased; in a parallel and increasing field, It was 128 A at 30 T which is approximately 40% of critical current in self-field. In addition, the $I_{c}$ was higher on decreasing field than that on increasing one. On the other hand, n did not significantly depend on field strength up to 30 T, nor varied on whether increasing or decreasing field; n value in 0.1∼1 $\mu$V/cm was 23.0$\pm$5.2 and 27.8$\pm$8.0 on increasing and decreasing field, respectively. The n value on decreasing magnetic field was slightly higher than that on increasing field. This hysteretic behavior of n was similar to that of$ I_{c}$, which is related to the trapped flux at the grain boundary.ary.
