  • This study was developed image processing algorithm for recognition of few teats of a cow in the image using black and white camera attached with infrared filter. Spectroscopic analysis was used for selection of a NIR filter to separate teats from udder skin in the image captured. To verify the performance of image processing algorithm was developed and NIR filter was selected, carried out an experiment with cows. NIR band-pass filter was used to pass the 975nm band of light spectrum. The image processing algorithm was developed could recognize all teats and the process time was 0.9 second to recognize the all teats and to acquire end position of teats.

  • Documented quality control plays a vital role I the production of technical “Depth filter” sheets used in industries such as Beverage and pharmaceutical. Depth filter sheets which can be up to several millimeters thick are stacker in plate and frame filter systems. They are the core of stainless steel filter systems which can be up to several meters high. FT-NIR Spectroscopy has many potential applications in the whole production line of filter sheets. Raw materials such as different types of cellulose pads, white powdery fillers (e.g. Kieelgur, Perlite) or liquid chemicals such as wet-strength agents we, with the help of NIR, easy to identify. NIR can also determine physical parameters such as particle size, essential for the filtration behavior. FT-NIR can be used for the quality parameters of the final product. Moisture and permeability can be determined, and with the help of the speed of this NIR method it is possible to correct possible faults quickly in the production process. Waste production can be minimized which is good for both the product profitability and the environment. Further tests have shown that it is also possible to use NIR on-line in the production area, to check the concentrations and the homogeneity of the paper suspension consisting of cellulose fibres, fillers and additives.

  • The SiO2/TiO2 multilayer thin films used for narrow band pass filter were fabricated using E-beam evaporation method. The narrow band pass filter was used to enhance the resolution of spectroscopy and sensor applications with near infrared (NIR) light source. The narrow band pass filter with multilayer thin films were designed with Essential Macleod program. The multilayers of SiO2/TiO2 with 32 layers were deposited on the silicon encapsulation of IR with peak wavelength (λp) of 660 nm and NIR LEDs with λp of 830 nm, 880 nm, and 955 nm. After NIR light passed through the narrow band pass filter, the full width of half maximum of 33.4~48.6 nm became narrow to 20~24 nm owing to the absorption of photons with short or long wavelength of designed band of 20 nm. The SiO2/TiO2 band pass filter fabricated in this study can be used for sensor, optoelectronics, and NIR spectroscopy applications.

정맥 관찰용 소형 근적외선 영상 시스템에서의 비지역적평균 알고리즘 적용 가능성 연구 (Application Feasibility Study of Non-local Means Algorithm in a Miniaturized Vein Near-infrared Imaging System)

  • 정맥의 천자는 병리학적 검사를 위한 혈액 샘플을 획득하기 위해 널리 사용되고 있다. 바늘을 사용한 침습적인 정맥 천자 방법이 반복되서 시행되면 환자가 받는 고통이 증가되는 문제가 있어 본 연구팀은 사전에 소형 근적외선 (near-infrared, NIR) 영상 시스템을 개발하였다. 획득된 NIR 영상의 화질 개선을 위하여 본 연구에서는 노이즈 제거에 효율적으로 잘 알려진 비지역적 평균 (non-local means, NLM) 알고리즘을 모델링하여 시스템에서의 적용 가능성을 분석하고자 한다. 개발된 NIR 영상 시스템은 dichroic 및 long-pass filter를 적외선 (infrared, IR)이 통과하여 최종적으로 CMOS 센서 모듈로 검출되는 원리를 기반으로 구성하였다. 제안하는 NLM 알고리즘은 노이즈를 제거시키고자 하는 픽셀을 주변 픽셀들간의 거리들을 고려한 값으로 대체하는 원리를 기반으로 모델링하였다. 850 nm의 중심 파장을 가진 NIR 영상을 획득 후 NLM 알고리즘을 적용하여 히스토그램 평활화를 통해 최종 정맥 영역을 분할하였다. 결과적으로 NLM 알고리즘을 적용한 정맥의 NIR 영상의 coefficient of variation은 평균 0.247로 기존의 filtering 방법들과 비교하여 우수한 결과값으로 도출되었다. 또한 NLM 알고리즘의 dice similarity coefficient 값은 기존의 median filter와 total variation 방법에 비하여 각각 62.91 및 9.40% 향상된 값이 획득되었다. 결론적으로 NLM 알고리즘은 NIR 영상 시스템으로 획득한 정맥의 정확한 분할이 가능하게 할 수 있음을 증명하였다.

  • This paper describes a newly designed multipoint process monitoring system based on a NIR acousto-optic tunable filter. The NIR multipoint process monitoring system consists of a NIR AOTF device for wavelength selection, an InGaAs array sensor, and a specially designed iin-line type of optical fiber probe. Unlike a FTS(Fourier Transform Spectrometry) or grating based monitoring system, an AOTF has no moving parts, and it can be rapidly tuned to any wavelength in its operating range within microseconds. Thus, the AOTF is advantageous in terms of faster spectral imaging capability and rigidity required for industrial monitoring environment.   • Defect of apple was depreciated the product value and causes storage disease seriously. To detect the defect of ‘Fuji’apple with machine vision system, the optical characteristics of defect should be investigated. In this research, absorbance spectra of defect were acquired by spectrophotometer in the range of visible and NIR region(400∼1,100nm) and L*a*b* color values were also acquired by colorimeter. NIR machine vision system was constructed with B&W camera, frame grabber, 16 tungsten-halogen lamps, variable focal length lens and NIR bandpass filter which was mounted to lens outward. Average gray values of defect at 15 NIR wavelength were acquired and the significant NIR wavelength was selected by comparing Mahalanobis distance between sound and defective apple. As the result of Mahalanobis distance analysis, the significant wavelength to discriminate the defectives in ‘Fuji’apple were found to be 720nm for scab and 970nm for bruise and cuts and 920nm was also effective regardless of defective types.

Development of Nondestructive Grouping System for Soil Organic Matter Using VIS and NIR Spectral Reflectance

  • This study was conducted to develop a nondestructive grouping system for soil organic matter using visible (VIS) and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopic method. The artificial light was irradiated on the cut soil surface at 15 to 20 cm depths to reduce the errors of light at open field. The reflectance energy from the cut soil surface was measured to group the soil organic matter using VIS/NIR light sensor with narrow band pass filter. From reflectance spectra of soil samples, the sensitive wavelengths for measuring the soil organic matter were selected and compared to previous research results. The grouping system for soil organic matter consisted of light sensor with band pass filter measuring the reflectance energy of the cut soil surface, global positing system (GPS), analog-to-digital (AD) converter, computer and operating software. The regression models to predict the soil organic matter were developed and evaluated. From field test, the accuracies of the developed light sensor system were 81.3% for five-stage grouping of the soil organic matters and 91.0% for three-stages grouping of the soil organic matters, respectively. It could be possible to support the decision making for variable rate applications with the developed grouping system for soil organic matter in precision agriculture.

대역 내 기준 파장을 갖는 근적외선 그리즘 실리콘 광 면 센서 분광기 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of an NIR Grism Si Optical Area Sensor Spectrometer with In-band Reference Wavelength)

  • An NIR grism Si optical area sensor spectrometer with in-band reference wavelength is designed and fabricated. It is composed of a transmission type diffraction grating (spatial density 300 line/mm), a rectangular N-BK7 prism (apex angle 30 degree), NIR filter(cutoff wavelength 720 nm), an imaging convex lens(focal length 50 mm F1.8) and an IR modified DSLR camera (Canon EOS40D) of Si optical area sensor ($3,888{\times}2,592$ pixels, pixel size $5.710{\mu}m$). "In-band reference wavelength function" is implemented using non-dispersive 0th diffraction order optical beam. The NIR grism spectrometer is tested in a laboratory using a halogen lamp and a Neon lamp. And the spectrometer is used in an astronomy field for obtaining the planet Jupiter NIR spectrum. In-band reference wavelength i.e. un-deviation wavelength is 846 nm, an wavelength resolution is 0.3027 nm/pixel, an wavelength resolving power is 2,794 and an wavelength range is 650~1,000 nm.

  • Several squarylium dyes, derived from benzothiazole and indoles, were synthesized as a potential NIR dyes with absorption in the 700-900 nm region. These chromophores were induced much more bathochromic shift in the absorption maximum of the compound relative to the neutral parent squarylium dyes which we were described before. The squaryliums offer a convenient way of linking the dye to functional substrates and may be an advantage to be potential chromophores for NIR-absorbing, NIR-Cut-off filter, PDT(Photo Dynamic Therapy) materials.

  • 본 논문에서는 음향광학 파장선택 필터(acousto-optic tunable filter) 기반의 파장훑음 레이저(wavelength swept laser)를 이용한 시간-인코딩 근적외선 분광 기술(time-encoded near-infrared spectroscopy)을 제안하였다. 파장훑음 레이저는 800 nm 근처 영역에서 이득 스펙트럼을 가지는 반도체 광 증폭기(semiconductor optical amplifier)를 기반으로 제작되었으며, 음향광학 파장선택 필터를 공진기 내부에 삽입함으로써 음향광학 파장선택 필터에 인가되는 전기적 라디오주파수에 따라 출력 파장을 선택할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서는 종래의 기술인 백색광 분광기 기반의 검출부 분광 근적외선 분광 기술과 제안된 파장훑음 레이저 기반의 광원부 분광 근적외선 분광 기술을 각각 이용하여 근적외선 흡수 염료 샘플의 흡광도를 각기 측정하여 실험적으로 비교함으로써 본 연구에서 제안하는 음향광학 파장선택 필터 기반 파장훑음 레이저를 이용한 근적외선 분광 기술의 특성을 증명하였다.
