A Study of Technology for the Accurate Measurement of the Remaining Energy in Secondary Cells

  • In this paper, a study was made of the technology used to measure the remaining amount of energy in secondary cells, for which demand is ever increasing. First, the standard data were stored for measurement of the remaining energy and a compare/analysis algorithm was developed. Next, hardware was designed and a prototype that can display the SOC(State Of Charge) through an LCD displayinstrument was created. The small size of the prototype allows it to be portable and its performance is within ${\pm}4$[%].

A Study of Reassigning Texture Map File for Correcting Directory (텍스쳐맵 경로 재설정 툴의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Developing a new texture path tool is crucial in 3D industries to automatically manage and set up texture paths for characters and environment modelings. For a better study, I compare the problems, methods and functions of the new tool(SongRepath tool) with other commonly used tools such as File Path Editor, Genie, He Texture Path. Next, I analyze the top down method system for these commonly used tools, and create a new bottom-up algorithm for a better use and efficiency. Finally, analyzing and comparing SongRepath tool with other tools in terms of operation in convenience, steps for results, checking number of Texture files, checking the numbers of new paths, checking the numbers of files not found, checking the numbers of path not changed, errors or problems, and availability of cancelation while proceeding the result. As a result, this study shows that SongRepath tool has less errors and saves more time on the processing works.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing the $21^{st}$ informationalization society based on knowledge. The proposed method is as following. First we embedded the multimedia type for digital information in systems. Next we realize the Ubiquitous systems combined with RFID/USN. We respect to bring the new human life paradigm if the proposed method will realization for the future.

Growth and Structural Characterization of Single Layer Dichalcogenide $MoS_2$

  • Synthesis of novel two dimensional materials has gained tremendous attention recently as they are considered as alternative materials for replacing graphene that suffers from a lack of bandgap, a property that is essential for many applications. Single layer molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$) has a direct bandgap (1.8eV) that is promising for use in next-generation optoelectronics and energy harvesting devices. We have successfully grown high quality single layer $MoS_2$ by a facile vapor-solid transport route. As-grown single layer $MoS_2$ was carefully characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy and electrical transport measurement. The results indicate that a high quality single layer $MoS_2$ can be successfully grown on silicon substrate. This may open up great opportunities for the exploration of novel nanoelectronic devices.

A Study on Estimation of Cooling Load Using Forecasted Weather Data (기상 예보치를 이용한 냉방부하 예측 기법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, new methodology is proposed to estimate the cooling load using design parameters of building and predicted weather data. Only two parameters such as maximum and minimum temperature are necessary to obtain hourly distribution of cooling load for the next day. The maximum and minimum temperature that are used for input parameters can be obtained from forecasted weather data. Benchmarking building(research building) is selected to validate the performance of the proposed method, and the estimated cooling loads in hourly bases are calculated and compared with the measured data for benchmarking building. The estimated results show fairly good agreement with the measured data for benchmarking building.

Characteristics and Analysis of Natural Pine-Needles Extract (천연 솔잎추출물의 특성 및 분석)

  • We have extracted the natural pine-needles to use ethanol in solvent, and could obtain the refined oil component from pine-needles extract. We have tested the antimicrobial effect from microbe experiment and analyzed with ICP/OES, GC/MS. we could obtain the next conclusion from the result of this experiment. In the first result of this experiment we could know that in case of increasing concentration of pine-needles, the number of microbe decreased more and more. Also we could know that the refined oil component of pine-needles appeared the sterilization effect of S-aureus and E-coli after 96hrs and 120hrs. So we could know that the refined oil component of appeared effect to microbe. In the second result of this experiment we could know that inorganic materials of Ca, Mg, V, Mn etcs from pine-needles detected to ICP/OES analysis and the aromatic compounds from refined oil component of pine-needles was certificated to GC/MS analysis.

A Study on Prediction of Hourly Cooling Load Using Building Area (건물 면적을 이용한 시간별 냉방부하 예측에 관한 연구)

  • New methodology is proposed to predict the hourly cooling load of the next day using maximum/minimum temperature and building area. The maximum and minimum temperature are obtained from forecasted weather data. The cooling load parameters related to building area are set through a database provided from reference buildings. To validate the performance of the proposed method, the predicted cooling loads in hourly bases are calculated and compared with the measured data. The predicted results show fairly good agreement with the measured data for benchmarking building.

An Integrated Architecture for Control and Monitoring Systems on Naval Surface Combatants (함정 통제체계의 통합 아키텍쳐 연구)

  • The operational concept of control systems on surface combatants has been changed from individual control for each system to integrated control for all systems due to computing technology development and crew reduction policy of navy. The purpose of this study is to identify current status of control technology, to analyze user requirement and to develop an architecture to support the conceptual change of ship control. An architecture, which integrates several control and monitoring systems on naval surface combatant, is proposed. The proposed architecture is focused on sharing network and computing resources related to user command, and reducing systems complexity. The architecture can be adopted to next surface combatants in Korean navy.

Development of Analysis Model for Underwater Acoustic Performance of Multi-Layered Coatings Containing Visco-Elastic Composites (점탄성 복합재가 포함된 다층구조 코팅재의 수중음향성능 해석모델 개발)

  • In this paper, an integrated analysis model for evaluating the underwater acoustic performance of the multilayered acoustic coatings containing visco-elastic composite layers with hollow glass microspheres is described. The model uses the effective medium theory considering the acoustic scattering and resonance effects of the inclusions. Also, the model incorporates the compressive deformation mechanism associated with hydrostatic pressure. The technique developed in this work was used as the acoustic layer design and performance analysis tools for the practical hull coatings and acoustic baffles in Korean next generation submarines.

The Logic of Vertical Density: Tall Buildings in the 21st Century City

  • This paper attempts to summarize recent debates on tall buildings. It first explains the driving forces of constructing tall buildings including population increase, rural-to-urban migration, demographic change, agglomeration, and human aspiration. Next, it discusses disadvantages and challenging factors that are frequently raised in making a case against tall buildings including economics, environmental factors, historic context, public safety, and psychological issues. The paper concludes by affirming that tall buildings will persist in the $21^{st}$ century due to strong commitment to urban sustainability and significant population increase worldwide.
