기어 물림 상태의 타행 주행 저항을 이용한 엔진 운전 조건의 분석 (Analysis of Engine Operation Condition by Using Coastdown Test under Gear Engaged Condition)

  • Conventional method to transform vehicle driving condition to engine operation mode is to use vehicle road load under neutral gear and mechanical efficiency of drivetrain. But this method requires additional measurement of efficiency of drivetrain on a test rig. And this measurement is normally done at fixed speed and thus estimated accuracy of engine operation mode is not considered to be high enough. This study suggests new method to calculate engine operation mode for prescribed driving mode such as NEDC using vehicle coastdown test under gear engaged condition without measurement of mechanical efficiency of drivetrain. Coastdown test was done under neutral and gear engaged condition for comparison and also trial to extract mechanical loss of drivetrain was carried out. Calculated engine torque by conventional and newly suggested method was compared with actually measured torque of a vehicle on a chassis dynamometer during NEDC. Newly suggested method showed slightly higher accuracy of accumulated brake work during NEDC.

디젤 엔진의 연비 향상을 위한 저압 배기재순환 시스템의 적용에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Fuel Economy in a Diesel Engine by Application of Low Pressure EGR System)

  • 디젤 엔진에서 저압 배기재순환 시스템의 적용을 통한 질소산화물 저감과 연비 향상에 관한 효과를 확인하였다. 엔진의 정상 상태 및 과도 상태에서 시험이 진행되었으며, 차량상사를 통한 NEDC 모드 테스트를 위하여 별도의 제어로직도 개발되었다. 정상 상태의 시험결과에서 저압 배기재순환 시스템은 고압 배기재순환 시스템에 비하여 질소산화물 저감 및 연비 향상에 유리함을 확인하였고, NEDC 모드 테스트 결과로부터 배출가스의 증가없이 연비를 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Development trend of modern HSDI diesel engine is now focusing on low fuel consumption and emission because of strong interest in global environmental protection. Two big branches of criteria for modern diesel engine development are down sizing and down speeding. Down sizing keeps engine operation condition to the direction of higher load and thus pursuing for better thermal efficiency. But this may cause degraded vehicle dynamic performance because of reduced back up torque. Down speeding keeps engine operation condition to the direction of slightly higher load and lower engine speed. Therefore reduction of back up torque can be limited within flat torque area. This study analyzed fuel economy effect of down speeding on a vehicle powered by HSDI diesel engine in aspect of engine friction work, intake and exhaust pumping work, exhaust hat loss and thermal loss of fuel leakage of fuel injection system. Contribution factor of each engine and vehicle related parameters under basic and down speeding condition were compared and work balance of down speeding during NEDC was analyzed.

Euro-6 대응 경유 차량의 규제 시험모드에 따른 배출가스 성능 비교 분석 (A Research on the Emissions According to Test Modes of Diesel Vehicles for Euro-6)

  • Emissions of diesel vehicles have been regulated by NEDC mode for a long time. However, the NEDC mode has been known the control of emission reduction is not reflected properly on actual road conditions. For these reasons, diesel vehicle emissions are regulated in both NEDC mode and WLTC mode from 2017 to 2020, from 2020 onwards, the emissions of diesel vehicles will measure in WLTC mode only and will not be able to exceed 1.5 times the regulated value. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development trend of diesel vehicle after-treatment system in order to comply with the future regulations on diesel vehicle. As a result, it is essential to reduce the NOx emissions of diesel vehicles for Euro 6, the NOx emissions of the test vehicle equipped with SCR were 30% to 50% loss than the test vehicle equipped with LNT despite the higher curb weight and engine displacement.

엔진 냉각수 유량 단속에 의한 디젤 차량의 연비 및 배기가스 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Fuel Consumption and Emissions of Diesel Vehicles Using Engine Coolant Flow Rate On/Off Control)

  • 내연기관 차량에 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프의 적용은 연비 향상 및 배기가스 저감을 꾀할 수 있다. 이러한 클러치 워터펌프는 엔진 냉각시스템의 유량 단속에 의하여 최적 운전 조건을 가능케 한다. 본 연구에서는 클러치 워터펌프를 이용한 냉각시스템을 제어함으로써 디젤 차량의 연비 및 배기가스 특성을 살펴보았다. 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프에 의한 저온 시동시 냉각수 흐름을 차단하여 아이들 조건에서 예열 시간을 기존 워터펌프 대비 49% 정도 단축시켰고, 주행 중에는 냉각수가 최적 고온상태를 유지하도록 제어하였다. 그리하여 NEDC 모드에서 연소 효율이 개선되어 최대 5% 정도의 연비 향상 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 NOx를 제외한 HC, CO 및 $CO_2$ 배기가스의 농도가 전반적으로 감소하였다.

  • 최근 차량용 에너지의 소비는 대부분 화석연료로부터 사용된다. 기존 화석 연료를 사용하는 자동차보다 친환경적이며 저렴하고 재생이 가능한 연료의 요구증대로 대체연료 자동차산업이 강조되고 있다. 오늘날 고옥탄가와 높은 자기발화온도 특징을 가지고 있는 천연가스는 저렴한 비용, 기존 화석연료보다 풍부한 매장으로 기존 스파크 점화엔진인 가솔린엔진의 대체에너지로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구는 기존 2리터 가솔린 엔진에 CNG 가스 분사시스템을 장착하여 전소 및 혼소 연료분사시스템을 설치하였다. 또한 CNG전소 및 가솔린/CNG 혼소차량의 ECU 제어전략을 최적화 하였다. 혼소차량에 대하여 NEDC모드 주행결과 가솔린 차량 대비 혼소차량의 CO2 저감율을 16%확인하였다. 또한 CO와 HC의 배기가스 배출량은 가솔린 차량과 동등한 수준을 확보하였다. 하지만 NOx의 배기가스 배출수준은 증가된 현상을 확인할 수 있었다.

SCR 및 LNT가 적용된 Euro-6 소형 경유차의 실제도로 주행과 인증모드에서의 CO2 및 NOx 배출특성의 비교 (Characteristics of Real-Driving CO2 and NOx Emissions Compared to Test Modes on Euro-6 LDVs Equipped with SCR and LNT)

  • Recently, the certification procedure for exhaust emission regulation of LDV has tested with the NEDC mode in the laboratory. But the on-road exhaust emissions exceed the standard emission limits. Therefore, it is important to analyze the real-driving emissions (RDE) with a portable emissions measurement system (PEMS). In present study, the on-road emissions were measured with a PEMS and evaluated by moving averaging window (MAW) method. Also, it was compared with the $CO_2$ and $NO_x$ emissions for real-driving and test modes from euro-6 light-duty vehicles equipped with SCR and LNT systems. In results, on-road $NO_x$ emission has been 2.3-10.0 times higher than the standard $NO_x$ emission limit on NEDC mode. The reason was that the test modes did not reflect traffic and various real-driving patterns sufficiently.

디젤 승용차량 시험모드별 극미세입자 배출 특성 해석 (Analysis of Diesel Nano-particle Characteristics for Different Vehicle Test Mode in Diesel Passenger Vehicle)

  • Recently, the nano-PM's number concentration emitted by diesel internal combustion engine has focused on attention because this particulate matters are suspected being hazardous of human health. In this study, The nano-PM mass and size of diesel passenger vehicles were measured on chassis dynamometer test bench. The particulate matters(PM) emissions of these vehicles were investigated by number concentration too. A condensation particle counter(CPC) system was applied to measure the particle number and size concentration of diesel exhaust particles at the end of dilution tunnel along the NEDC(ECE15+EUDC) and CVS-75 vehicle test mode. As the research result, the characteristic of vehicle test mode on the diesel nano-particle number and size distribution was investigated in this study.

CRDI시스템을 갖는 천연가스/디젤 혼소차량의 개발에 대한 연구 (Research of Natural Gas/Diesel Dual Fuel Vehicle)

  • This research is about the exhaust gas and driving performance test which are for CNG-Diesel dual fuel engine. The CNG-Diesel dual fuel engine converted from 2500cc diesel has two steps of injection systems; small amount of diesel is injected to mixture CNG in cylinder to ignite before CNG is injected into each intake manifold to form mixture. The amounts of output power and emission in duel fuel consumption were measured by engine dynamometer and exhaust gas analyzer. Over 90% of diesel consumption reduction, similar driving performance to current diesel engine and reduced emission on $CO_2$ and PM, respectively, were indicated through the measurements. The two steps of system were applied to vehicle to investigate exhaust gas characteristics and driving performance via NEDC mode and real driving test. Additional oxidation catalyst was applied to reduce emission on the test vehicle and the NEDC mode test showed the reduction of Co, $CO_2$, Pm and THC.

디젤엔진의 질소산화물 저감을 위한 Urea SCR 시스템 특성 분석 (II) (Characterization of SCR System for NOx Reduction of Diesel Engine (II))

  • The Effect of Space Velocity(SV) on NOx conversion rate was performed to develop NOx reduction after-treatment system. SV is calculated from engine exhaust gas volume and SCR catalyst volume. Found the Urea injection duty of maximum efficiency for NOx conversion if increase SV, NOx Conversion rate is down. Especially, when SV is more than $110,000h^{-1}$, NOx conversion rate decrease suddenly. Same case, if SV is lower than $40,000h^{-1}$, NOx conversion rate is down. Also, the characterization of Urea-SCR system was performed. Three candidate injectors for injecting Urea were tested in terms of 속 injection rate and NOx reduction rate. The performances of SCR catalytic converter on temperature were investigated. The performance of Urea-SCR system was estimated in the NEDC test cycle with and without EGR. It was found that nozzle type injector had high NOx conversion rate. SCR catalytic converter had the highest efficiency at the temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. EGR+Urea-SCR system achieved NOx reduction efficiency of 73% through the NEDC test cycle.
