Automatic Diameter Control System for Single Crystal Growth by Czochralski Method; Growth of Nd:YAG Single Crystal (Czochralski법에 의한 단결정 자동직경 제어시스템 개발;Nd:YAG 단결정 성장)

  • We developed an automatic diameter control system to control the diameter of single crystal for Czochralski growth. The system is composed of load cell, software program and data acquisition system connected to computer which controls RF power. This study describes the basic principle, characteristics and components of the system. The diameter of Nd:YAG crystal could be controlled within ±5% tolerance by this system.

  • The automatic analysis of the wavefront of laser beam is simulated numerically, and is applied to get the wavefront of the output beam of LD-pumped cw Nd:YAG laser, experimentally. The automatic analysis tool was developed by utilizing Fourier analysis method, and its usefulness is proved through numerical simulation. The wavefront error due to the analysis tool is known to be less than A/30. In order to find the wavefront of Nd:YAG laser beam, its interference fringe is obtained from Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The wavefront calculated from the developed tool has the shape of nearly spherical wavefront and the maximum distortion is about 0.8 .A.. 8 .A..

  • Recent changes in health problems as well as the health delivery system demand expanding nursing roles to improve quality care and at the same time provide cost-effective health services. Nursing leaders of the future will be expected to be excellent care givers who are well prepared as researchers and managers and administrators. The purpose of developing an ND program is to train nursing leaders for the future. The program objective are to demonstrate the role as 1) an advanced practitioner who will provide theory based practice 2) a researcher and manager The target population of the ND program is as follows : 1) Nurses with a BSN degree who are seeking to advance on the career ladder 2) Non-nursing BS, BA graduates who are seeking nursing as a second career 3) Transfer students who are mature and motived to be nursing leaders It is believed that the ND program would meet the diverse needs for potential students, for their role in nursing and the health delivery system and create a meaning and challenging position in the profession of nursing. A task force team was organized to develop the ND program and its activities are as follows; 1) Information on ND programs were collected from 3 universities and reviewed 2)An advanced education needs assessment was completed and it was found that 87.6% of the subjects responded positively about advanced degree work. 3) A tentative curriculum for an ND program was developed. It is a great challenge to develop a new program for nursing however, it is also our task and responsibility to further the development of nursing.

  • 2015년 2월 27, 28일 양일 간, "Gemini 관측제안서 준비와 작성"이라는 주제로 $2^{nd}$ We Love Galaxies Meeting>을 개최하였습니다. "We Love Galaxies"는 외부은하를 연구하는 국내 대학원생들을 위해 마련한 학술 교류의 장입니다. 지난 2014년 7월에 열린 "제 1회 We Love Galaxies 대학원생 외부은하 워크샵"을 시작으로 매년 여름과 겨울에 정기적인 모임을 운영하고자 합니다. $2^{nd}$ We Love Galaxies Meeting>은 한국천문연구원 K-GMT Science Program의 도움을 받아 개최하였으며, 5명의 박사 연구원과 28명의 대학원생이 참가하였습니다. 성공적인 관측제안서 작성과 준비를 위해 Gemini 망원경의 기기 특성 및 관측제안서 작성 요령에 대한 강의와 더불어, 2015A Gemini 관측 프로그램에 대한 소개, 새로운 관측 아이디어에 대한 토론 등으로 프로그램을 진행하였습니다. 본 포스터를 통해 $2^{nd}$ We Love Galaxies Meeting>의 결과와 성과를 정리하고, 앞으로의 계획에 대해 소개하고자 합니다.

Growth of Nd:YAG single crystal by czochralski method and characteristics of laser generation (Czochralski 방법에 의한 Nd : YAG 단결정의 육성 및 레이저 출력특성)

  • Nd:YAG single crystal widely used as solid state laser was grown by Czochralski method. <111> single crystal with 0.9at% of $Nd^{3+}$ was grown from the Czochralski furnace with a automatic diameter control system. The vertical temperature gradient in the liquid was the major factor that influence the crystal quality, and the crystal diameter was controlled by the home made computer program. The crystal boule with $\phi$50mm$\times$ι100mm effective size was cut, polished, and antireflection coated. The optical evaluation such as absorption spectrum, fluorescence spectrum coincide with typical features of Nd:YAG single crystal. The laser rod was assembled into the CW laser generator with a Kr lamp. The maximum CW laser output was 70 W and the threshold power and efficiency was 1.3kW and 1.64% respectively.

  • For this study, we searched recent trend of STEAM education and developed 'STEAM education program by producing UCC'. We developed and applied this program which is designed for 'wise of life' of 2nd graders in elementary school for the real class. As a result, the creativity index of the students who went through the researched program increased with meaningful difference compared to that of sample population. And positive response increased in both of interest and attitude among affective region related to science. The result of this study shows that 'STEAM education program by producing UC' can bring positive change for the expansion of creativities and scientific attitude.

  • A study was conducted to determine whether the vaccination programs for the control of New castle disease (ND) would affect the immune status of birds against the disease. Twenty-six poultry flocks in the epizootic area of ND were surveyed to investigate the level of urn antibody against ND virus and the programs used for the vaccination of birds. The mortality rates and vaccination status of birds during the epizootic of ND were also examined in the infected poultry flocks to elucidate the immune effect against the epizootic with particular regard to various vaccination programs used in the field. The results obtained are summerized as follows: 1. Of 26 poultry flocks investigated, 22 flocks were immunized with live and killed vaccines, their haemagglutination-inhibition (HI) antibody titer being 146 and 50, respectively. Among 22 farms using live and killed vaccines two flocks which showed the lowest HI titer of 10 and 23 had the disease later on. However, no cases of ND were recorded in the killed vaccine groups, although their HI titers were in the range of 38 to 64. 2. Of 14 infected flecks, one flock was not vaccmated against ND while all the remaining 13 flocks were vaccinated against the disease, of which 8 flocks were vaccinated with live vaccine only and the other 5 flocks with both live and killed vaccines. The mortality rate of 8 infected flocks which had been vaccinated with only live vaccine was as high as 32.5% while that of 5 flocks with both live and killed vaccines was as low as 5.1%. 3. It was found that in majority of flocks B$_1$vaccine was used via drinking water and in a few flocks the vaccine was administered via intramuscular route or method of dipping mouth, nose and eye of birds into vaccine solution.

  • This study would investigate how reading psychology coaching could affect to male & female youth who lived in youth shelter. The main target of this study is self-growth. The progression of program had held from 17nd July 2016 to 17nd October 2016 and each program has been done for 120 minutes once a week during 12times. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program 'Inferiority Complex Symptom Scales' & 'Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scales' were used. In short, this program process mainly affect on self-growth. Therefore, this program effect expected as a developmental reading psychology coaching for youth shelter dwellers.

For this is the very large project, it is necessary to consider the plan of water use comprehensively. Therefore, watershed water balance model for this project has been developed and a variety of analysis has been carried out.   • It is necessary to develop an effective waste salt treatment technology for the minimization of radioactive waste generation from the pyroprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. For this reason, the separation characteristics of NdCl3 from LiCl-KCl eutectic salt in a reactive distillation process using Li2CO3 or K2CO3 were observed. NdCl3 was converted into oxychloride (NdOCl) or oxide (Nd2O3) in the reaction model between NdCl3 and the carbonates using HSC-Chemistry, and this result was confirmed in the reactive distillation test of the LiCl-KCl-NdCl3 system using the carbonates. Based on these results, the reactive distillation process conditions were determined to separate NdCl3 into an oxide form (Nd2O3) which can be easily fabricated into a final waste form.
