  • Broadband noise with frequency components in the range from several kHz up the tens of MHz is a major obstacle factor in normal operation of the AC line to supply the power to electrical and electronic control equipments. Because this kind of noise could damage the device or could be a source of malfunction, many devices such as filter and surge suppressor are used to cut off the noise. But those devices could not disconnected from the power line, so they result in poor common-mode of NCT as well as insulation characteristics as a isolation transformer in addition faraday shielding and proposed analysis model of NCT having tow functions of surge and noise reduction. The simulated and experimental results for the surge suppression characteristics are compared and evaluated for designed protype 1[kVA] NCT.

  • In sheet metal fabrication using NCT(numerically controlled turret), the automatic tool selection for the NCT operation is the major problem to be solved first to improve its production performance. However, the punching tool selection has been done by human experts either manually or semi-automatically. In this paper, we have introduced the shape-index-set to handle the shape of sheet metal parts and developed an algorithm through which one can find easily the successive matching curves between two curve lists, one from the punching tool and the other from the boundaries of the sheet metal part. Based on this algorithm, we have also devised the method that can select automatically the tools to punch out the boundaries of sheet metal parts. The result of several computational experiments shows the successful tool selection without any fail.

  • Authors have studied retrospectively the facial nerve injury after TMJ surgery through the preauricular approach routine. The study material used was 4 patients of all 113 patients who were diagnosed as internal derangement and have been operated from March 1989 to February 1991 in Youngdong severance hospital, and were induced postoperatived facial nerve injury. The patient group who had the postoperative injured facial nerve was recognized degree of injury using the diagnostic method, Electromyography(EMG) and Nerve conduction test(NCT) which are used widely at present and was treated as conservative care and we identified the recovery time as the same method. The results as follows : 1. The meticulous care and precious surgical technique are needed in both operation and postoperation. During the TMJ surgery, the excessive retraction of the flap and frequent use of nerve stimulator and electric surgical knife should be avoided as possible and postoperative hematoma and swelling should be minimized. 2. The 4 patients were experienced with the postoperative facial nerve injury of all 133 patients who had been operated the TMJ surgery through the routine preauricular approach on our hospital. And the incidence of postoperative facial nerve injury happened was about 0.3% and its incidence was relatively low comparing with any other previous reports. 3. EMG and NCT were considered as useful methods which can diagnose the nerve injury objectively and identified the effect of treatment and recovery time. 4. The faical nerve-injured patients who were induced postoperatively after TMJ surgery, were diagnosed as second-degree nere injury through the EMG and NCT. And the patient group was treated well as conservative physical therapy for about 2 to 4 months.

  • Since the punching time is strongly related to the productivity in sheet metal stamping, there have been a lot of efforts to obtain the optimal tool path. However, most of the conventional efforts have the basic limitations to provide the global optimal solution because of the inherent difficulties of the NP hard combinatorial optimization problem. The existing methods search the optimal tool path with limiting tool changes to the minimal number, which proves not to be a global optimal solution. In this work, the turret rotation time is also considered in addition to the bed translation time of the NCT machine, and the total punching time is minimized by the simulated annealing algorithm. Some manufacturing constraints in punching sequences such as punching priority constraint and punching accuracy constraint are incorporated automatically in optimization, while several user-interactions to edit the final tool path are usually required in commercial systems.

  • Recently an increase of sensor and power trandusers in control equipment system has caused many kinds of noise the mis-operation equipment and demage program memories of control circuits. In this paper, the noise character of the various control equipment system has been measured and analyzed. Additionally, the countermeasure to reduce noise like as Noise Cut Transformer, Equipotential Bonding, Power Noise Rejector, Noise Filter has been applied and confirmed the effective results to solve the trouble of noise.

  • Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the pulmonary recruitment maneuver (PRM) at the end of the operation to decrease laparoscopy-induced abdominal or shoulder pain after gynecological oncologic surgery. Methods: In total, 113 women undergoing laparoscopic surgery for malignant or premalignant gynecological lesions were assigned randomly to two groups: the PRM group (the patient was placed in the Trendelenburg position ($30^{\circ}$) and the PRM, consisting of two manual pulmonary inflations to a maximum pressure of $40cmH_2O$) (n=54) and the control group (n=52). Postoperative shoulder and abdominal pain was assessed 12, 24, and 48 hours later using a visual analog scale (0-10). In addition, the incidence of post-discharge nausea and vomiting was recorded until 48 hours after discharge. Results: Postoperative shoulder pain at 12 and 24 hours was significantly less severe in the PRM group ($2.2{\pm}0.5$ and $2.0{\pm}0.4$) than in the control group ($4.0{\pm}0.5$ and $3.9{\pm}0.4$; both p<0.001). The PRM significantly reduced the severity of upper abdominal pain at 12 and 24 h compared with the control group ($3.1{\pm}0.4$ and $2.9{\pm}0.4$ vs. $2.9{\pm}0.5$ and $4.9{\pm}0.5$; both p<0.001). The analgesic requirement during the postoperative period was similar in the two groups (control group, 78.8%; PRM group, 75.9%; p=0.719). Conclusion: The PRM effectively and safely reduced postoperative shoulder and upper abdominal pain levels in patients undergoing laparoscopic gynecological oncologic surgery.
