Physical modeling has been widely used for sound synthesis since it synthesizes high quality sound which is similar to real-sound for musical instruments. However, physical modeling requires a lot of parameters to synthesize a large number of sounds simultaneously for the musical instrument, preventing its real-time processing. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a single instruction, multiple data (SIMD) based multi-core processor that supports real-time processing of sound synthesis of gayageum which is a representative Korean traditional musical instrument. The proposed SIMD-base multi-core processor consists of 12 processing elements (PE) to control 12 strings of gayageum in which each PE supports modeling of the corresponding string. The proposed SIMD-based multi-core processor can generate synthesized sounds of 12 strings simultaneously after receiving excitation signals and parameters of each string as an input. Experimental results using a sampling reate 44.1 kHz and 16 bits quantization show that synthesis sound using the proposed multi-core processor was very similar to the original sound. In addition, the proposed multi-core processor outperforms commercial processors(TI's TMS320C6416, ARM926EJ-S, ARM1020E) in terms of execution time ($5.6{\sim}11.4{\times}$ better) and energy efficiency (about $553{\sim}1,424{\times}$ better).
This study has attempted to explore the way to construct the reality and its implication of the narrative elements in TV Audition Reality Show. According to the study results, first of all, two audition reality show has added the special tasks to characters based on the competition and has developed the dramatic events sequentially. And they has suggested the course of way between survival and fail, that is, inclusion and exclusion. As that results, audiences has be immersed in the process of the justification of the star(hero) myth and the dealings of musical elements to see dramatized show of narrative. And they knew audition reality show as non-real fiction, so they enjoyed the pleasure spontaneously. These means that the empowered media reproduced the illusion like star(hero) with the purpose of the commercial and political aim and one of the ideology to acquiesce in the appropriateness of the competition.

While the difficulty of the music can be classified by a variety of standard, conventional methods are classified by the subjective judgment based on the experience of many musicians or conductors. Music score is difficult to evaluate as there is no quantitative criterion to determine the degree of difficulty. In this paper, we propose a new classification method for determining the degree of difficulty of the music. In order to determine the degree of difficulty, we convert the score, which is expressed as a traditional music score, into electronic music sheet. Moreover, we calculate information about the elements needed to play sheet music by distance of notes, tempo, and quantifying the ease of interpretation. Calculating a degree of difficulty of the entire music via the numerical data, we suggest the difficulty evaluation of the score, and show the difficulty of music through experiments.
This research outlines the motivations behind the fan-lead marketing and promotional endeavours undertaken by musical group BTS's fan community, also known as ARMY. In highlighting the reciprocity in intimacy between the group and their fans, I argue that ARMY's desire to elevate BTS is embedded within structures of affect, despite the financial nature of the benefits the group and their company may reap. These fan-lead initiatives represent efforts towards a common goal, where success, whether it comes in the form of money or not, is a gift of gratitude and a show of mutual understanding from fans to BTS. Based on data from 22 interviews with fans, this research explores the motivations behind fan-lead marketing by looking at the affective properties of music consumption, the parasocial relationship, fan community dynamics, and the purchase of intimacy. Within these contexts, the promotion surrounding BTS's music, as organized by the fans, mimics profit-oriented behaviours but is ultimately a gesture towards the exchange of intimacy between fans and artist.
The purpose of this study is to propose a role as healing music through Hoesimgok's interaction. The song "Hoesimgok (悔心曲, 回心曲, Regretting Song)" means a song that expresses regret. There's nothing more desperate than my parents in a song of regret. Your heart for your late parents must be the thing you regret the most. We always think that we should be filial to my parents, but we can't. We are under a lot of stress due to situations and environments that are unintentionally not filial. Audiences who show self-reflection on their filial piety become emotional identities with those who sing with the lyrics and actions of songs and music. Therefore, Hoesimgok is a song and a prayer. Music exerts a range of powerful biological effects beyond nice sound and furthermore, it is expanding to music therapy. It can also bring about peace of mind by regulating sympathetic nervous system excitation. Our results suggest that Hoesimgok can have the effect of making listeners as well as singers happy.

Purpose: The present study was done to examine the effect of music therapy on anxiety and pain in patients for whom a ureteral stent was inserted under local anesthesia. Method: The participants in this study were 22 patients who received a ureteral stent at the Day Surgery Center of C University Hospital during the period from May to October in 2006. The patients were divided into a control group (n=11) and an experimental group (n=11). For the experimental group, music was played according to their musical preference using headphones. The music was provided from the point when the patient took the posture for the operation and was covered with a sterilized drape to the point when the cystoscope was removed after finishing the operation. The control group was only provided with ordinary nursing services. Results: The results show that the provision of music therapy to these patients is effective in reducing the patients' salivary cortisol and Vas-anxiety score and stabilizing their systolic blood pressure. Conclusion: We conclude that music therapy can be actively used as a nursing intervention for reducing anxiety in patients who receive operations under local anesthesia.
In the conventional clustering algorithms, an object could be assigned to only one group. However, this is sometimes not the case in reality, there are cases where the data do not belong to one group. As against, the fuzzy clustering takes into consideration the degree of fuzzy membership of each pixel relative to different classes. In order to overcome some shortcoming with traditional clustering methods, such as slow convergence and their sensitivity to initialization values, we have used the Harmony Search algorithm. It is based on the population metaheuristic algorithm, imitating the musical improvisation process. The major thrust of this algorithm lies in its ability to integrate the key components of population-based methods and local search-based methods in a simple optimization model. We propose in this paper a new unsupervised clustering method called the Fuzzy Harmony Search-Fourier Transform (FHS-FT). It is based on hybridization fuzzy clustering and the harmony search algorithm to increase its exploitation process and to further improve the generated solution, while the Fourier transform to increase the size of the image's data. The results show that the proposed method is able to provide viable solutions as compared to previous work.
This paper describes an efficiency of chroma based tonal features for speech emotion recognition. As the tonality caused by major or minor keys affects to the perception of musical mood, so the speech tonality affects the perception of the emotional states of spoken utterances. In order to justify this assertion with respect to tonality and emotion, subjective hearing tests are carried out by using synthesized signals generated from chroma features, and consequently show that the tonality contributes especially to the perception of the negative emotion such as anger and sad. In automatic emotion recognition tests, the modified chroma-based tonal features are shown to produce noticeable improvement of accuracy when they are supplemented to the conventional log-frequency power coefficient (LFPC)-based spectral features.
Objective: This paper is to analyze the impact of musical training to the fast ${\alpha}$ wave activation of the EEG. Background: EEG is neurological research method that can observe the brain function in real time. EEG can be used to determine the nervousness and relaxedness of a person who receives stimuli in a structured environment. Therefore, it is possible to interpret the functional state of human brain by the analysis of EEG. Method: The brain activities of two groups of university students in the point of RFA(Relative Fast Alpha) caused by different music are analyzed in this paper. One is the group of music majors and the other is the group of non-majors. Results: Music major and non-major groups show meaningful differences in RFA during exposed to classic and metal music. Conclusion: Learning experience on music affects RFA increment of music majors. Application: The result of this study will be used as basic data to evaluate the learning effects of students who want to study music.
In this paper, we propose a method to extract and classify features of multi-channel ElectroEncephalo Graphy (EEG) that change according to various musical tempo stimuli. In the proposed method, a 3D convolutional bidirectional gated recurrent neural network extracts spatio-temporal and long time-dependent features from the 3D EEG input representation transformed through the preprocessing. The experimental results show that the proposed tempo stimuli classification method is superior to the existing method and the possibility of constructing a music-based brain-computer interface.
