Under copyright law, the writer' work is clearly protected, and any later producer who wishes to mount a copyrighted play or musical must obtain a license from the author, which may involve sharing royalties from the subsequent production with the author. Generally, directors do not explicitly enjoy similar legal protection for their creative input into a finished production. This Article explores the unsettled issue of copyright protection for stage direction in America. Firstly, it presents a few lawsuits on behalf of stage direction issues. It examines whether stage directions are possible for copyright protection through some pieces of articles. It looks at the contract form made by SSDC which is national labor union representing stage directors and choreographers. After all, I insist we acknowledge the copyright law and the value of copyright protection for stage directors' creative input into a performing arts production. We should devise the contract forms for stage directors which are to be applicable for each situations of productions.

Optical music recognition (OMR) systems have been developed in recent years. However, chord symbols that play a role in a music sheet have been still disregarded. Therefore, we aimed to develop a proper approach to recognize these chord symbols. First, we divide the image of chord symbol into small segments in horizontal by a method based on vertical projection. Then, the optimal combination of these segments is found by using a lexicon-driven word scoring technique and a nearest neighbor classifier. The word that corresponds to the optimal combination is the result of recognition. The experiment gives an impressive result with accuracy 97.32%.

As various media have developed in modern society, frequency of use of interactive media has increased which makes interactive function that uses and handles projection mapping and LED screen in set design of broadcasting, concert, play, musical and EDM(Electronic dance music) in real time possible. Development of various media led today's viewers to have higher cultural desire and the need of various interactive performance contents to receive more attention.[1]. This thesis implemented real time VJing that responds to user's motion based on existing H/W by utilizing real time interactive elements.

While the difficulty of the music can be classified by a variety of standard, conventional methods are classified by the subjective judgment based on the experience of many musicians or conductors. Music score is difficult to evaluate as there is no quantitative criterion to determine the degree of difficulty. In this paper, we propose a new classification method for determining the degree of difficulty of the music. In order to determine the degree of difficulty, we convert the score, which is expressed as a traditional music score, into electronic music sheet. Moreover, we calculate information about the elements needed to play sheet music by distance of notes, tempo, and quantifying the ease of interpretation. Calculating a degree of difficulty of the entire music via the numerical data, we suggest the difficulty evaluation of the score, and show the difficulty of music through experiments.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to introduce oriental medicine music therapy during the acupuncture of pathogenic fire. Methods : We investigated the acupuncture points of pathogenic fire and the methodology of oriental medicine music therapy. Results : During the acupuncture of pathogenic fire, patients listen to proper music and after withdrawing of acupuncture, patients play the musical instrument. The patients with the case of fire due to affection by exopathogen, the method of dispelling superficial fire can be used through playing percussion instruments. The case of patients with the fire of five organ, the Five Phases music can be used properly. Conclusions : This study describes oriental medicine music therapy has a good possibility as a treatment of pathogenic fire with acupuncture.

There is a unique method of musical expression in the nature documentary. The expression method is Mickey Mousing technique, which expresses the movement of animals with music. The Mickey mousing technique can also be used in other types of documentaries, but it is most prominently used in nature documentaries. The Mickey Mousing technique cannot be used in any field other than music composition, because the composer should describe the movement of animals by playing music to match the animal's movements exactly. It is also because they have to play the instrument separately according to the sound source. In this study, we examined the nature documentaries broadcast by KBS over the last five years and analyzed the cases of Mickey Mousing technique. Therefore, we obtained research results that the Mickey Mousing technique is necessary and that the music composition is also necessary as a background music of nature documentaries.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the current trends of British Music Therapy and its effectiveness as a therapeutic intervention for the autistic children. This paper consists of two parts；Part one will provide a general picture of music therapy by looking at its fundamental concepts and therories. Part II(two case studies) will illustrate the actual processes of music therapy which can engender a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the autistic child. Through the first case study of Charlie, a 3 year and 9 month non-verbal autistic boy, we shall see how music therapy facilitates both non-verbal and verbal communication and a form of pretend play. The second case of Mark, a 10 year old autistic boy with complex emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties who had been sexually abused in the past, presents how the therapist’ acceptance of the child’ being and the shared experience of music therapy enable the child to express his difficulties and to develop the awareness of self and others. By exploring both musical and interpersonal aspects of music therapy, this gives an in depth examination of therapeutic processes. In order to clarify clinical procedure, this paper is viewed in musical, developmental and psychodynamic perspectives. To ensure confidentiality, the clients will be referred to by alter-native forenames.

This study examines research trends in the dissertations and journal articles on stage costume so as to provide basic information on directions for future studies. The data was collected from the theses of domestic journals of the Korean Studies Information (KSI) which were published until December, 2012 and retrieved by a keyword related to the "design of stage costume", "costume for performing art", and etc. Theses and articles for the analyses were a total of 200 published. Reviewing the theses by dividing the times into 8 Chronicles of 5 years in each term. The findings of the study are as follows: According to the chronological analysis, there has been a steady increase in the rates of the musical, ballet, dance, and circus costume and cutting edged technology such as LED has been utilized in the performing art, currently. The real production and making up of the costumes have been increasing as well by replacing of illustration and rendering of the costumes. In the recent costume of the performing arts show the tends of the visual effects and up-sizing, comprehensiveness and fusion. From the analysis of the background of the work, those were confirmed that the most common historical period was modern period, and places were France, England, and Egypt. In regard to research themes and methods, many of research papers utilized content analysis method, character analysis method as research methods. The most popular presentation of the costume designs was "rendering", "costumes schedule" and "illustration". However, development and explanation of the patterns was insufficient and constructions methods and real works(costumes) were usually omitted in the articles.

During the China's long history, many ethnic groups have developed their own traditions of local music which is an important part of their precious cultures. Meanwhile, each ethnic group developed its own worldview and music culture according to its unique living environment, special lifestyle and mode of production. The clarinet is a Western instrument, and has been influenced to some extent by Chinese minority culture while being introduced to China. Therefore, musicians tried to find ways of using Western musical instruments to express various elements of Chinese minority music. Focusing on two clarinet works 'The Song of Grazing Horses' by Wang Yan and 'The Sound of Pamir Clarinet Concerto' by Hu Bijing, this paper aims to analyze the musical characteristics of minority groups expressed by the clarinet in two aspects: the formation of the music style, the artistic characteristics conveyed through the works. Specifically, it consists of five parts: ethnic mode and tonality, rhythm, time signature, melody making, and imitation of animals. It also analyzes the cultural characteristics of Tajik and Mongolian music reflected in the two works in combination with living environment, mode of production, life style, and ethnic emotions. This study aims to provide a theoretical basis for composers and performers who want to understand and acquire the musical style of modern Chinese clarinet works. It also helps to find a better way to play traditional Chinese music with Western instruments.
