  • The present article evaluates a performance hall, which improves sound efficiency. In general, the sidewall of the music hall is plane circle. thus there happens a focus phenomenon. To overcome it. the music hall improves its sound efficiency by making its sidewall irregular. After measuring impulse response from the performance hall, evaluation indices on the temporal distribution of sound energy such as RT, EDT, D50, C80, RASTI and BR were obtained, and based on them, indoor acoustic characteristics and the generation of echoes were determined. According to the results, evaluation indices showed that the acoustic condition was satisfactory in general. This study is to provide fundamental data for acoustic design of music hall with round form by analyzing the room acoustic characteristics of music hall.

  • This research is the comparative analysis of Jim Hall's master work "Careful" and "Waltz New" who is the most influential guitar player of the present day. I tried to analysis musical inclination and direction comparison with contemporary musicians in this study. Jim Hall wasn't the person who did satisfy with only playing guitar as a famous artist but trying to research and create a new thing continuously with this his music. I am considering that his music has been great implications for contemporary direction.

  • The advanced and complicated modern society recognizes image creation based on the identity of the global competitive age as the important means. The requirement for a new vision to the globally environmental problem has affected on design so that as environmentally-friendly products and technologies have been developed and original expression modes have been appeared which the medium of paper which is natural material, paper has been highlighted newly. Hanji made of mulberry fiber, a bast fiber of mulberry is a representative environment-friendly natural fiber. In addition, it has various functions similar to those of yellow earth such as emission of far infrared rays, antibiosis, deodorization, fast dry ability of sweat, and simple dyeing ability. It is Hanji threads that are produced from various processes of Hanji materials. Therefore, hanji threads are able to be both woven and knitted still remaining Hanji's excellent characteristics. In addition, it is light, bio-degradable, durable and washable, and it is an environment friendly product with the distinguished texture and sensitivity. Under the concept of 'Circle' designed the uniforms of music hall to inform that the uniforms as a media representing music hall represents the unique Sori Arts Center of Jeollabuk-do traditional style.

  • An acoustical rating for the occupied hall of our National Theatre is presented for symphony orchestra and opera by theoretical estimation of various acoustical qualities from the basis of measured reverberation times in its vacant stste. The result is that by serious poverty of liveness a romantic music, typical symphony orchestra and even classical music are very difficult to be performed and only a baroque music is scarcely allowable to be performed in this hall. As for opera, wagnerians are difficult and italians are performable to some extent. Some discussions are given for which defects are more serious in this hall and some possible accustical corrections are also suggested for its better performance.

  • During the Japanese colonial era, Chosun Central Young Men's Christian Association Hall, Gyeongseong Public Hall, or Bumingwan was used as multipurpose space where various performances or events were held. Although traditional music performed in each of the places did influence the remaining of traditional music in existence as well as the vitalization of traditional musicians' activity, since these places were mostly for Western music or other genres, no research has been carried out to study the performance of traditional music there in detail. The purpose of this study is to understand the aspects of performing traditional music in multipurpose places mentioned above. Reviewing newspaper materials of the time, this author has examined the aspects of performing traditional music in each of those places in terms of the forms of performances performance programs performers as well as performing groups the aspects of development. First, this researcher considered in what forms traditional music was performed in each of the places mostly. About performance programs, this author divided them into instrumental music, vocal music court music, and folk music. Regarding performers, this study divided them into instrumental music and vocal music professional performers and unprofessional performers male and female master singers and gisaeng and figured out the importance of each of them in different places. Also, concerning the appearance of performers and performing groups, this researcher studied how it was associated with the space, and about the aspects of performance, how it was developed in different periods was examined. In that process, this author has learned that the aspects of performing traditional music in the space were significantly influenced by the characteristics of each space and has clearly and concretely understood performing programs as well as the aspects of performers and groups' activity. With this research as an opportunity, this author expects that research will be actively conducted on the performance of traditional music in each of the places that have not been studied yet and it can contribute to figuring out the development or trends of performing traditional music during the Japanese colonial era.

  • There have been always some difficulties in target setting and conditioning of acoustic performances of the Korean traditional music hall due mainly to the lack of the information on the sound radiation characteristics of Korean musical sources. In this study, the radiation characteristics of four typical Korean traditional musical sources were investigated in precision and their usage was demonstrated: The selected musical sources were Gayageum (string), Daegeum (woodwind), Jango (drum), and Pansori Chang (vocal performance). Each sound source was located at the center of a semi-anechoic chamber and the directivity was determined by the measured sound pressure levels in every 10° angular position, for both vertical and horizontal directions. The directivity pattern of Gayageum varies from a uniform to a complex pattern having many side lobes with the increase of frequency. The main radiation of Daegeum is toward the upward direction. The directivity pattern of Jango is clearly a side-oriented one and the left direction intensity is sharper than its right side at low frequencies. For the Chang, the directivity pattern change from a uniform pattern to a frontally directed one as the frequency goes high. Measured directional and spectral characteristics of traditional Korean music sources were implemented into the computation of architectural acoustic measures for the Busan National Korean Traditional Music Hall which is under construction. Parameters such as RT, SPL, C80, IE, STI were calculated at two receiver positions by using a ray tracing technique. Significant differences in the acoustic measures at receiver positions were observed between the results in using the omni-directional source and the directional one. It is thought that the suggested source data and design method can be used as a basic reference in the future acoustic design of performance halls for the Korean traditional music.

  • This paper is to suggest the optimum structure and the rating scale of PANSORI hall. The method of this study is as follows. 1. Consideration for the characteristics of OPANSORI and Beranek's music & acoustic theory. 2. To take advice from the expert. 3. The experiment and evaluation of a model. 4. The structure of PANSORI hall and the study of the availability in Beranek's rating scale of orchestra and opera. 5. The establishment of the rating scale in PANSORI hall. 6. The evaluation of the forms of performance in each hall. The result of this study, the proper hall in the performance of PANSORI is, 1. The initial time delay gap less than 25ms. 2. The reverberation time of the extents of 1.2 seconds. 3. The proper average bass ratio of 1.25 extents. 4. The distance from performers to audience is within 30 meters. 5. THE VOLUME OF HALL IS 450-7400 ㎥ extents. 6. It should be designed not to be a acoustical disturbancenoise, echo, and the unbalance of sound pressure level, etc.
