Diffuse panbronchiolitis is a chronic inflammatory lung disease of unknown etiology which is characterized by chronic airflow limitation and airway inflammation, predominantly localized in the respiratory bronchioles with infiltration of inflammatory cells, and has typical clinical, radiological and pathological features. Obstructive respiratory functional impairment, occasional symptoms of wheezing, and also cough and sputum resemble the feature of emphysema, bronchial asthma, or chronic bronchitis, respectively. We experienced a case of pathologically proven advanced diffuse panbronchiolitis in a 55-year-old man with productive cough and exertional dyspnea. The chest radiography showed multiple tiny nodular densities on whole lung fields. It was confirmed by thoracoscopy-guided lung biopsy and the patient was improved after initiation of treatment with low-dose erythromycin.

Herein, we report a case of tumorous endobronchial tuberculosis with successful recovery of atelectasis without any significant bronchial stricture, after repeated expectorations of nodular tissues. A 24-year-old male patient was presented with persistent cough. The patient was diagnosed to be suffering from tuberculous lymphadenitis on right axillar and mediastinum of lung, and was subsequently treated with antituberculosis agents. After two months, clinical deteriorations and atelectasis were observed on right upper lobe of lung. Multiple endobronchial tumorous lesions, which obstructed the right main bronchus, were revealed on bronchoscopy, and based on the endobronchial biopsy findings we confirmed that the patient was suffering from endobronchial tuberculosis. We decided to administer antituberculosis agents without any additional procedure. After few weeks, the patient spontaneously expectorated nodular tissues with vigorous coughing. Later on, the symptoms and atelectasis disappeared and the patient was completely recovered. This case shows that in patients suffering from tumorous endobronchial tuberculosis, endobronchial mass can be expectorated spontaneously without sequelae of significant bronchial stenosis.
We report a case of a 20-year-old woman who presented with fever, dry cough and pulmonary consolidation at the left upper lobe on chest radiograph. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed obstruction of the left upper lobar bronchus with exophytic mass and multiple nodular protruding lesions at the left main bronchus. Endobronchial actinomycosis was confirmed by demonstration of sulfur granule through the bronchoscopic biopsy of nodular lesion. Intravenous administration of penicillin G followed by oral tetracycline therapy for 5 months resulted in complete recovery of symptoms which had been present for 3 months prior to therapy. Infiltrative consolidation on the chest X-ray disappeared and all the lesions shown by bronchoscopy were nearly normalized after 6 months only to remain small nodular remnants at the left main bronchus. Endobronchial actinomycosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of endobronchial mass.

Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia (NLH) is a benign lymphoproliferative disease that can affect the lung. Because of its rarity, little is known about the etiology and natural history of NLH. Most cases are usually asymptomatic and found incidentally on imaging studies. Imaging finding of NLH has shown most commonly as a solitary lesion, although multifocal pulmonary nodules may be seen. Surgical resection has proved curative in the cases previously described. We report a rare case of NLH in a 55 year-old man who presented with bilateral multiple pulmonary nodules on chest radiography. Open biopsy was performed from the upper and lower lobe of the left lung. The lesions were pathologically diagnosed as pulmonary NLH. Multifocal residual nodules in both lungs remain stable without spontaneous regression during the 3 years of follow-up.
The etiologic agents of mucormycosis are several nonpathogenic fungi of the order Mucorales and are ubiquitous. A total of 82 chickens were infected with the disease and developed anorexia, diarrhea, malnutrition, dyspnea, and paralysis in a chicken farm, Sokcho, Kwangwon. At necropsy there were multiple nodular lesions and hemorrhages in livers, spleens, kidneys, gastrointestinal track, and respiratory system. On histopathological examination it was found that the nodular lesions were consisted of granoulomatous inflammation accompanying characteristic hyphae ($4{\sim}24{\mu}$ wide) of the fungi.

A benign metastasizing pulmonary leiomyoma(BMPL) is a rare disease that is usually detected years after a hysterectomy or myomectomy. Despite the benign pathological appearance, these tumors can metastasize and become clinically malignant. Recently, we experienced case of BMPL with hemoptysis. A 43-year-old woman, who had undergone a hysterectomy due to uterine leiomyoma 8 years ago, visited our department complaining of intermittent hemoptysis. A chest CT showed bilateral multiple nodular lesions. Video-associated thoracoscopy was performed. The resected small nodular lesion revealed the proliferation of spindle cells without mitosis or nuclear atypism. The lesions tested positive to the smooth muscle marker (actin) by immunohistochemical staining. Therefore, the multiple nodules were considered as benign metastasizing pulmonary leiomyoma from a uterine leiomyoma. GnRH analogue therapy was initiated. A chest CT showed that the size and number of pulmonary lesions did not change after 3 months, and the patient was symptom free.
Two 53-day-old broiler chickens were condemned due to multiple cutaneous nodular masses at slaughter house. Grossly, variable sized round masses were scattered in the abdomen and pelvis. Some of them were large and fused each other. Center of large fused nodules were ulcerated. Histopathologically, tumor masses consisted of multiple cords or masses of epidermal cells. Some of \ulcornerem contained central conoentric lamella of keratin (cancer pearl). From these results, these cases were diagnosed as cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. This is the first report of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma occurred in broiler chickens in Korea.
A 15-year-old intact female poodle dog was referred to a local animal clinic showing signs of dyspnea. A radiographic examination revealed multiple nodules in the lung. The following day, the animal died and a necropsy examination revealed multiple nodular masses of varying sizes in the lung. Microscopically, the tumor cells were composed of round to polygonal cells resembling adipocytes with little or no collagenous stroma. Most of the cells contained clear cytoplasmic vacuoles with the nucleus at the periphery while the other cells contained varying numbers of smaller vacuoles. The immunohisto-chemical evaluation yielded a positive reaction to S-100 and vimentin. Negative results were obtained for pancytokeratin, smooth muscle actin, desmin, epithelial membrane antigen and CD68. This case was diagnosed as a well-differentiated liposarcoma.

Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia(LIP) is an uncommon condition in which the alveolar septa and extra-alveolar interstitial space are markedly expanded by small lymphocytes, plasma cells and histiocytes. Chest radiographs generally show nonspecific patterns with the most common pattern showing bibasilar reticular or reticulonodular infiltrates. Hilar or mediastinal lymphadenopathy and pleural effusions are usually absent. We encountered a 42-year-old female patient who was admitted to hospital because of exertional dyspnea and palpitation. The chest X-ray showed an enlarged bilateral hilar shadow and diffusely increased bronchovascular markings in both lung fields. The chest CT showed diffuse nodular infiltrations with mild septal thickening and combined patchy ground glass opacity in both lungs, and conglomerated mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy. A diagnosis of LIP was made from the tissue pathology taken by a thoracoscopic lung biopsy. The patient showed clinical and radiographic improvement after 3 months of treatment with prednisolone. We report a case of LIP presenting as diffuse nodular interstitial infiltrations with multiple mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy.
Diffuse pulmonary nodular lesions have many causes. When they are caused by infection, the likely organisms are M. tuberculosis and various fungi. Silicosis, eosinophilic granuloma and pulmonary metastasis should be considered for differential diagnosis. Differential diagnosis needs detailed clinical history, physical examination and various laboratory tests. A case of persistent diffuse pulmonary nodular lesions which had persisted 5 years is reported. The patient was a 25 years old man with minimal pulmonary symptoms. Detailed past history and physical examination suggested thyroid tumor. Chest radiography showed numerous evenly sized well-defined nodules scattered in entire lung fields. Previous chest X-rays showed similar nodular lesions, which had lasted for 5 years. The number of nodules was slightly increased. Neck CT showed heterogenous mass in left lobe of thyroid gland and multiple lymphadenopathies along both internal jugular chains. Total thyroidectomy was performed. A case of lung metastasis which progressed slowly in papillary thyroid cancer is reported.
