  • The Community Center is a location designated to enhance the spirit and unity of the residents in the community, through construction and promotion of entertainment, welfare of citizens, and cultural activity. Recently, the roles of the Community Center has become far more diverse, and multiple gadgets and apparatus to encourage the participation and usage of the programs offered at the Community Center. Therefore, the general consensus predicts that the Community Center will continue to encourage further interaction and cooperation, and perform its functions accordingly. The function of this plan is to enable the usage of the basic blueprint of the current Community Center, if in the near future, new buildings were to be constructed, by extracting and deducting the current innovations in the architectural blueprint of the Community Center and the comprising factors within. The specimen of this plan will be the case of Ansan City, and in order to activate this plan, we will contemplate about the functions and placement standards before we actually go through the process of interpreting and analyzing data of the case of Ansan City's Community Center, particularly its comprising factors and changes in their construction plan. We are planning to organize the programs that the Community Center is offering, and process information relating to the base of the edifice, in order to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of the process.

  • The HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit 400km/h eXperiment) project starts in 2007. It is required to control and balance the systems engineering activities throughout the project life cycle for a successful completion of the project. The Systems Engineering Management Plan(SEMP) is the primary, top level technical management document for the integration of all engineering activities within the context of, and as an expansion of, the project plan. A SEMP should be prepared for each project and regularly updated as development progresses. This paper proposes the systems engineering management plan for the HEMU-400X project.

  • Tsurumi River Basin successfully started to prepare a Water Master Plan though a series of discussions by gathering all stakeholders in a hall. It began with setting five management targets namely, flood, low flow, natural environment, emergency use, and recreational use, followed by setting management goals by target as well as a one-sentence catchphrase for the Water Master Plan using a bottom-up approach. The author reviews this process and discusses the background of the success.

  • The quality of products produced by injection molding process is greatly influenced by the process variables set on the injection molding machine during manufacturing. It is very difficult to predict the quality of injection molded product considering the stochastic nature of manufacturing process, because the process variables complexly affect the quality of the injection molded product. In the present study we predicted the quality of injection molded product using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method specifically from Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) perspectives. In order to train the ANN model a systematic plan was prepared based on a combination of orthogonal sampling and random sampling methods to represent various and robust patterns with small number of experiments. According to the plan the injection molding experiments were conducted to generate data that was separated into training, validation and test data groups to optimize the parameters of the ANN model and evaluate predicting performance of 4 structures (MISO1-2, MIMO1-2). Based on the predicting performance test, it was confirmed that as the number of output variables were decreased, the predicting performance was improved. The results indicated that it is effective to use single output model when we need to predict the quality of injection molded product with high accuracy.

  • Parallel NC machines are a new generation of machine tools aimed at increasing maching accuracy and reducing part cycle time. In addition to their capacity to perform both milling and turning operations, these machine tools can perform multiple machining operations simultaneously, involving one or more parts at a time, and can completely finish a part in a single setup. Due to the lack of a computer-aided process planning system, these machines are used in industry today as dedicated, mass-production machines. This pape presents methodology for generating optimal process plan for each parallel machine tool using a genetic algorithm.

  • In an environment where a large number of weapons are operated compared to a large number of ground targets, it is important to monitor and manage the targets to set up a fire plan, and through their multilateral analysis, to equip them with a priority order process for targets having a high threat level through the quantitative calculation of the threat level. Existing studies consider the anti-aircraft and anti-ship targets only, hence, it is impossible to apply the existing algorithm to ground weapon system development. Therefore, we proposed an effective threat evaluation algorithm for multiple ground targets in multi-target and multi-weapon environments. Our algorithm optimizes to multiple ground targets by use of unique ground target features such as proximity degree, sorts of weapons and protected assets, target types, relative importance of the weapons and protected assets, etc. Therefore, it is possible to maximize an engagement effect by deducing an effective threat evaluation model by considering the characteristics of ground targets comprehensively. We carried out performance evaluation and verification through simulations and visualizations, and confirmed high utility and effect of our algorithm.

  • This paper attempts to rethink the ancient Emperor's Capital transition process from the viewpoint of territorial history. Emperor Tenmu, who planned first capital as Fujiwara-kyo in Asuka region, had a grand plan to put multiple cities in Japan. At that time the important cities were situated along east-west axis. However, since relocation of the capital from Fujiwara-kyo to Heijyo-kyo, the axis had turned towards north-south direction. The last ancient capital Heian-kyo was clearly organized utilizing north-south water systems in territorial sense.

  • This paper considers a scheduling problem in a flexible job shop with a reconfigurable manufacturing cell. The flexible job shop has both operation and routing flexibilities, which can be represented in the form of a multiple process plan, i.e. each part can be processed through alternative operations, each of which can be processed on alternative machines. The scheduling problem has three decision variables: (a) selecting operation/machine pairs for each part; (b) sequencing of parts to be fed into the reconfigurable manufacturing cell; and (c) sequencing of the parts assigned to each machine. Due to the reconfigurable manufacturing cell's ability of adjusting the capacity, functionality and flexibility to the desired levels, the priority scheduling approach is proposed in which the three decisions are made at the same time by combining operation/machine selection rules, input sequencing rules and part sequencing rules. To show the performances of various rule combinations, simulation experiments were done on various instances generated randomly using the experiences of the manufacturing experts, and the results are reported for the objectives of minimizing makespan, mean flow time and mean tardiness, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a computation model of the quantity supplied to optimize inventory costs for the fast fashion. The model is based on a forecasting, a store and production capacity, an assortment planning and quick response model for fast fashion retailers, respectively. It is critical to develop a standardized business process and mathematical model to respond market trends and customer requirements in the fast fashion industry. Thus, we define a product supply model that consists of forecasting, assortment plan, store capacity plan based on the visual merchandising, and production capacity plan considering quick response of the fast fashion retailers. For the forecasting, the decomposition method and multiple regression model are applied. In order to optimize inventory costs. A heuristic algorithm for the quantity supplied is designed based on the assortment plan, store capacity plan and production capacity plan. It is shown that the heuristic algorithm produces a feasible solution which outperforms the average inventory cost of a global fast fashion company.

  • With recent attempts to improve quality and productivity, the prefabrication manufacturing system has been occupying an increasing share of the construction area. To minimize site work, material is more frequently being produced and partially assembled at a plant, and then installed at a site. For this reason, the production process is being divided and the materials are being delivered to the site after passing through multiple plants. With these changes in the production process, the materials delivery plan is becoming an important management point. In particular, as road transportation using trucks has a 71 percent share of the domestic transportation market, selecting the proper transportation path is important when delivering materials and equipment to a site. But the management system at the project design phase to calculate the delivery cost by considering the production process of the pre-fab material and the $CO_2$ emission at the material delivery phase is currently lacking. This study suggests a process design model for assembly production of the pre-fab material and transportation logistics based on carbon emission. The suggested model can be helpful to optimize the location of the intermediate plant. It is expected to be utilized as a basic model at the project plan and design phase when subcontractors make decisions on items such as materials procurement, selecting the production method, and choosing the location of the assembly plant.
