  • The laser-induced transient grating method is applied to study the dynamics of the nematic MBBA film. The nanosecond laser pulses of 355 nm are used to make the transient grating and the cw He-Ne laser of 633 nm is used to probe the dynamics. Strong multiple order diffractions are observed at high nematic temperatures. The reordering process induced by the phototransformed state, which is the locally melted state from the nematic sample, is attributed to the main origin of the multiple order diffractions from the nematic MBBA. The characteristics of the multiple order gratings are discussed with the grating profiles simulated from the multiple diffraction signals.

  • In this paper, a class of initial value problem of hyperbolic equations for fourth order with multiple characteristics is considered and can be solved analytically by variable transforms. Also, similar to Goursat's problem we present a direct integration technique for finding a new solutions of an inhomogeneous hyperbolic equation of fourth order such that the attached conditions are given on its multiple characteristics.

  • A general class of two-point optimal fourth-order methods is proposed for locating multiple roots of a nonlinear equation. We investigate convergence analysis and computational properties for the family. Special and simple cases are considered for real-life applications. Numerical experiments strongly verify the convergence behavior and the developed theory.

  • In this paper, we investigate an inventory and production system in a three-layer supply chain system involving a single supplier, single manufacturer and multiple retailers. Earlier study in this type of supply chain only consider a single raw material in order to produce single item, but we consider raw materials in order to produce multiple items. It is assumed that the cycle time at each stage is an integer multiple of the adjacent downstream stage. We develop an iterative solution procedure to find the order quantity for the multiple items and raw materials that minimizes the supply chain-wide total cost per unit time of the supplier and manufacturer's raw materials ordering and holding, setup and finished items holding, the retailer's ordering and inventory holding. Numerical examples are presented to show that the proposed heuristic gives good performance.

  • This research deals with an order picking problem in automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). When retrieval requests consist of multiple items and the items are in multiple stock locations, the storage/retrieval (S/R) machine must travel to numerous storage locations to complete each order. The aim of this research is to propose algorithms for the resolution of order picking problems with multiple stock locations to minimize the total time traveled by the S/R machine. We present and compare three alternatives for solving the problem based on enumeration, ordinary heuristic and genetic algorithms. We used a set of 180 different problems that are solved by these three algorithms. The results show that our proposed genetic algorithm is more efficient than the other two.

  • In this paper, we propose an ordering chatbot that can process multiple keywords based on recursive slot-filling method. In general, in case of an order service using chatbots, the whole order process is performed only according to the sequence defined by the developer. That is, among all the information needed for the whole order process, only one input can be processed at one time. In order to reduce processing step for the order, we propose a recursive slot-filling method which fills out multiple slots per one time by extracting multiple keywords. First, a keyword array for the order is created according to the order related information. Next, from the input sentence of a user, multiple keywords is extracted. Corresponding slots for a keyword array will be filled with the extracted keywords. Finally, recursive routine will be executed to fill out all the blank in the keyword array. The usability and validity of the proposed method will be shown from the implementation of a smartphone application.

  • Given a text T and a pattern P, the order-preserving pattern matching problem is to find all substrings in T which have the same relative orders as P. The order-preserving pattern matching problem has been studied in terms of finding some patterns affected by relative orders, not by their absolute values. Given a text T and a pattern set $\mathbb{P}$, the order-preserving multiple pattern matching problem is to find all substrings in T which have the same relative orders as any pattern in $\mathbb{P}$. In this paper, we present a hashing-based algorithm for the order-preserving multiple pattern matching problem.

  • An objective and one-step detection procedure of multiple outliers is suggested by using the gaps of the order statistics. The detection procedure can be used as a routine outlier detection method of a statistical analysis computer program. The procedure is applied to some examples including the data selected by Kitagawa.

  • We propose to use transverse waves instead of longitudinal waves in a scanning tomographic acoustic microscope (STAM) and new type of multiple-transducer with the functions of muliple-angle and multiple-frequency tomography. Proposed multiple-transducer scheme has three insonification angles and three resonance frequencies in order to operate in the transverse wave mode and multiple-angle and multiple frequency tomography for the STAM. In order to evaluate the performance of proposed transducer scheme we have simulated tomographic reconstruction with back-and-forth propagation(BFP) algorithm. Simulation results showed proposed multiple-transducer scheme is capable of obtaining good resolution with transverse wave mode and multiple-frequency tomography. It is also showed that proposed scheme is an efficient rotation scheme by proportion to the number of projections.
