  • Recently, more and more portable terminals probably have multiple interfaces to be connected to different access technologies. Each technology has its specific characteristics in terms of coverage area, bandwidth, reliability, etc. For example, the mobile node is equipped with three heterogeneous interfaces; IEEE 802.1lb MLAM link, CDMA Cellular link, and 802.16 WiMAX link These mobile nodes may be reachable through different links at the same time or use each interface alternately depending on the network environment. As like this, the portable terminal equipped multiple interfaces can have many benefits; it should be connect to Internet through other interface in case of occurring to failure for currently activate interface, and it should share a mount of traffic efficiently per interface etc. This environment is called end node Multihoming. However, current most Internet protocols are designed originally with single interface in mind. So these potocols do not provide methods for supporting simultaneous diffentiated use of multiple access technologies. In this paper, firstly we have to refer technical consideration items to use multiple interfaces based on IPv6 simultaneously. And we should propose extended registration mechanism for multiple addresses being acquired from interfaces to support reliable accessibility and vertical handover.

  • A modular Gaussian beam model is developed to simulate some ultrasonic testing configurations where multiple interfaces are involved. A general formulation is given in a modular matrix form to represent the Gaussian beam propagation with multiple interfaces. The ultrasonic transducer fields are modeled by a multi-Gaussian beam model which is formed by superposing 10 single Gaussian beams. The proposed model, referred to as "MMGB" (modular multi-Gaussian beam) model, is then applied to a typical contact and angle beam testing configuration to predict the output signal reflected from the corner of a vertical crack. The resulting expressions given in a modular matrix form are implemented in a personal computer using the MATLAB program. Simulation results are presented and compared with available experimental results.

  • One of popular applications in the Internet is the multimedia streaming services such as IPTV or You Tube in which supporting quality of service (QoS) is an important issue. One of widely adopted rate control scheme is TCP-friendly rate control (TFRC) which shows comparable performance with TCP in term of throughput and lower variation of throughput over time. On the other hand, devices with multiple interfaces are emerging in the market. However, it has not proposed to exploit multiple interfaces simultaneously for multimedia streaming services with TFRC. In this paper, we propose a multimedia streaming algorithm with TFRC which exploits multiple interfaces to guarantee the quality of service. We show that the proposed scheme shows better performance than those with a single interface in terms of throughput and communication costs.

  • Recent mobile devices have multiple wireless network interfaces. Therefore, we can use a more 'energy efficient network interface for reducing energy consumption' according to the network environment without depending on a specific network interface. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient wireless network interface selection scheme for mobile devices with multiple wireless network interfaces. The proposed scheme selects a more energy efficient network interface for data communication by using polling. Also, we show that our scheme is more efficient in terms of energy consumption.

  • The wide deployment of wireless access technologies and the integration of various access network interfaces into a single terminal, allows mobile end-users to be always connected to the IP network, and to use those interface simultaneously. In this paper the CTE provides various access network interfaces capabilities, allowing reception of data over multiple service providers with different characteristics. Considerations for multiple network and service provider environments are regarded as essential for the successful deployment of convergence services in Next Generation Network (NGN). Event Driven Service (EDS) is regarded as a typical convergence service converging different functions of multiple service providers. This paper first describes the deployment model of NGN convergence services for multiple service provider environments. It also covers the service scenario of EDS, a convergence service for multiple service provider environments in NGN. Multiple provider environments stimulates the unified identifier management, namely ubiquitous identification (U-ID), to enable users to be provided convergence services without awareness of multiple provides. Then the designed structure and procedures of U-ID based EDS are given. Finally, the implementation results tested on Korea Advanced Research Network (KOREN) are described.

  • This study presents a structural health monitoring (SHM) method for bolted connections by using multi-channel wireless impedance sensor nodes and multiple PZT-interfaces. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. Firstly, a PZT-interface is designed to monitor bolt loosening in bolted connection based on variation of electro-mechanical(EM) impedance signatures. Secondly, a wireless impedance sensor node is designed for autonomous, cost-efficient and multi-channel monitoring. For the sensor platform, Imote2 is selected on the basis of its high operating speed, low power requirement and large storage memory. Finally, the performance of the wireless sensor node and the PZT-interfaces is experimentally evaluated for a bolt-connection model Damage monitoring method using root mean square deviation(RMSD) index of EM impedance signatures is utilized to estimate the strength of the bolted joint.

  • As a variety of wireless network services, such as WLAN, WiBro, cdma2000, and HSDPA, are provided and the range of users' choices for the wireless services are broaden, MCoA (Multiple Car-of Address) concepts that enable users to use wireless interfaces simultaneously have been presented in IETF MONAMI6 WG. Through this scheme, users can access several networks simultaneously by using multiple wireless interfaces. Such various wireless connection technologies continue to advance as they are connected and integrated to All-IP-based core network, and at the same time, heterogeneous networks are being managed overlaid according to the coverage of the wireless connection technologies. Under such circumstances, needs for an integrated architecture have arisen, and thus Wireless service framework is required that effectively manages heterogeneous networks which coexist with next generation's networks for 4G. In this paper, a wireless service framework is suggested in the consideration of current wireless service environment, and the framework covers the schemes to minimize the packet loss caused by handover, and also modified Multiple Care-of Address that helps to select most effective network by considering characteristics of various interfaces as well as users' preferences.

  • Many web-based Information systems require degrees of adaptation of the system's user interfaces to different client devices, users and tasks. We describe a new approach to providing adaptable client interfaces for web-based Information systems that allow a developer to specify a web-based interface using a high-level mark-up language. At run-time this single interface description is used to automatically provide for multiple web devices This approach allows developers to much more easily construct and maintain web-based user interfaces than other current approaches.

  • Increasing popularity of WLAN and advancement of WPAN allow user to connect to the Internet easily today. The increasing of number of networking mobile device such as laptop and PDA requires computing devices to share high speed Internet line or work on networks in most cases. This has stimulated the demand of access point that supports multiple network interfaces. This paper describes the process of design, implementation and test of the wired/wireless integrated access point that supports multiple network interfaces such as wired LAN, wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and Broadband network. We designed and developed the hardware system and protocol software to integrate heterogeneous network. The system has shown compatibility with standard specification and good performance through testing with various network devices.
