The hexagonal grid structure has been studied for processing and representing spatial information data in Geographic Information Systems. Visualization using a hexagonal grid has high visibility compared to other grid representation methods. However, it is difficult to effectively convey quantitative data and differences between grids depending on the geospatial data represented. In this paper, we propose a method to visually emphasize the hexagonal grid by generating shadow on the outside of the hexagonal grid. To do so, we offset the outer line segments of the hexagonal grid to be emphasized and generate a Bézier curve based on that information to determine the final shadow shape. We also apply variable transparency toward the edges of the shadow because the shadow gradually fades away from the hexagonal grid. We have shown that the proposed method can effectively generate shadow areas given not only a single hexagonal grid but also multiple hexagonal grids and can generate various shadow shapes based on user interface inputs. We apply the proposed method to Yongsan-gu, one of the districts of Seoul, and show the results of visually emphasizing it after generating shadow using the proposed method.
In this paper, we estimated the Direction of Arrival (DOA) using Conventional BeamForming (CBF), adaptive beamforming and compressive beamforming. Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) and Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) are used as the adaptive beamforming, and grid-free compressive sensing is applied for the compressive sensing beamforming. Theoretical background and limitations of each technique are introduced, and the performance of each technique is compared through simulation and real experiments. The real experiments are conducted in the presence of reflected signal, transmitting a sound using two speakers and receiving acoustic data through a linear array consisting of eight microphones. Simulation and experimental results show that the adaptive beamforming and the grid-free compressive beamforming have a higher resolution than conventional beamforming when there are uncorrelated signals. On the other hand, the performance of the adaptive beamforming is degraded by the reflected signals whereas the grid-free compressive beamforming still improves the conventional beamforming resolution regardless of reflected signal presence.
This paper describes the design and implementation of a grid system META (Metacomputing Environment using Test-run of Application) which facilitates the execution of a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis program on distributed environment. The grid system META allows the CFD program developers can access the computing resources distributed over the network just like one computer system. The research issues involved in the grid computing include fault-tolerance, computing resource selection, and user-interface design. In this paper, we exploits an automatic resource selection scheme for executing the parallel SPMD (Single Program Multiple Data) application written in MPI (Message Passing Interface). The proposed resource selection scheme is informed from the network latency time and the elapsed time of the kernel loop attained from test-run. The network latency time highly influences the executional performance when a parallel program is distributed and executed over several systems. The elapsed time of the kernel loop can be used as an estimator of the whole execution time of the CFD Program due to a common characteristic of CFD programs. The kernel loop consumes over 90% of the whole execution time of a CFD program.

Grid technologies make it possible for IT resources to be shared across organizational and security domains. The traditional identity-based access control mechanisms are unscalable and difficult to manage. Thus, we propose the FAS (Federation Agent Server) model which is composed of three modules: Certificate Conversion Module (CCM), Role Decision Module (RDM), and Authorization Decision Module (ADM). The proposed FAS model is an extended Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model which provides resource access capabilities based on roles assigned to the users. FAS can solve the problem of assigning multiple identities to a shared local name in grid-map file and mapping the remote entity's identity to a local name manually.

The term 'Grid' refers to systems and applications that integrate and manage resources and services distributed across multiple control domains. Resource sharing is, necessarily, highly controlled, with resource providers and consumers defining clearly and carefully just what is shared, who is allowed to share, and the conditions under which sharing occurs. In this paper, we design and implement a grid access control system, called PGAM. This system works on heterogeneous resources, can be applied to the additional service development and its service, provides template account management mechanism, and tries to ensure site autonomy. This system is implemented to increase portability and to be tit tll any kind of economic model.
There are many moving-body problems to be solved, the solution of which necessary for proper design of flight vehicles in aerospace industry. Since a body moves relative to other bodies in the category of these problems, difficulty arises regarding both generation of computational grid around the body in motion and conservation of flow properties in the moving grid system. A few example could be store separation from the aircraft and relative vibration of multiple bodies in the high-speed flow passage. In this paper we report on the progress made in computing moving-body aerodynamics related with sabot separation characteristics. Conservative overlapping grid together with cell-merging-unmerging technique is used to solve the Euler equations for a body in high-speed motion. Carbuncle errors has to be removed before we obtain physically adequate solution. Two-dimensional application is reported here.
One of the preferred methods that can be used to verify the results of finite element analysis is to measure surface strains of the deformed part for purpose of direct comparison with simulation results. Instead of using the usual manual method the vision-based measurement method is capable of determining surface geometry and strain from the deformed grid pattern automatically with the help of a computer. To obtain strain distribution over an area, the coordinates of such a surface grid are determined from the multiple video images by applying the photogrammetry principle. Methods to improve the overall accuracy of the vision-based strain measurement system are explored and the possible accuracies that can be attained by such a measurement method are discussed. A major emphasis is placed on the initial grid application method its accuracy and ease of subsequent image processing. Finite element analyses of limiting dome height(LDH) test are carried out and the results of them are compared with exsperimen-tal data.
In this paper, we established ZIGBEE home network and combined smart-grid and u-Healthcare system. We assisted for amount of electricity management of household by interlocking home devices of wireless sensor, PLC modem, DCU and realized smart grid and u-Healthcare at the same time by verifying body heat, pulse, blood pressure change and proceeded living body signal by using SVM algorithm and variety of ZIGBEE network channel and enabled it to check real-time through IHD which is developed by user interface. In addition, we minimized the rate of energy consumption of each sensor node when living body signal is processed and realized Query Processor which is able to optimize accuracy and speed of query. We were able to check the result that is accuracy of classification 0.848 which is less accounting for average 17.9% of storage more than the real input data by using Mjoin, multiple query process and SVM algorithm.
An interactive mode of grid generation system has been developed for a Navier-Stokes design procedure of axial flow compressors. The present grid generator adopts the multiblock H-grid structure, which simplifies the creation of computational grids about complex turbomachinery geometries and facilitate the manipulation of multiple grid blocks for multirow flow fields. The numerical algorithm adopts the combination of the algebraic and elliptic method to create the internal grids efficiently and quickly. The system consists of four separated modules, which are linked together with a common graphical user interface. The system input is made of the results of the preliminary design. The final grids generated from each module of the system are used as the preprocessor for the performance prediction of the two-or three-dimensional flow simulation inside the blade passage. Application to the blade design of the LP compressor was demonstrated to be very reliable and practical in support of design activities. This customized system are coupled strongly with the design procedure of the turbomachinery cascades using the Navier-Stokes technique.

Micro-source units having power ratings in thousands of watts can provide power quality with higher reliability and efficiency than the conventional large scale units. This paper develops switching level model of micro-source and studies the characteristics of the micro-grid consisting of multiple micro-sources and interfaced with electric power system. The developed model adopts the space vector PWM to fully utilize the capacity of inverter. The interaction of the grid connected micro-sources and the characteristics of the control system parameters are investigated. Micro-sources and micro-grid are implemented using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results show that the proposed model is efficient for studying micro-grid system.
