  • The prototypical smart environment to support the context-aware interactions between user and ubiquitous campus environment based on multi-agent system paradigm is proposed in this paper. In this model, the dynamic Bayesian is investigated to solicit and organize agents to produce information and presentation assembly process in order to allocate the resources for an unseen task across multiple services in a dynamic environment. The user model is used to manage varying user constraints and user preferences to achieve system's goals.

  • Shape Memory Alloys have attracted the interest of a great number of researchers in the world, and Mexico is not the exception. Research in this field started ten years ago, and is actually an active line covering the classical Cu-based and Ti-Ni alloys, but also the new Fe-based alloys. Although more basic studies have been performed at the present time, interest for applied research and technological goals is increasing. In this work we present a series of studies carried on these Shape Memory Alloys by the groups in Mexico, and explain what the interest of our groups are in the next future in this are of the Materials Science. Interdisciplinary work has been necessary in the characterization of the different alloys, and multiple techniques have been used, like Mossbauer spectroscopy, thermoelectric power, electron microscopy, ultrasound techniques, neutron and x-ray diffraction, calorimetry, among others. Collaboration With other groups in Europe and in the United States have become highly useful and productive, and some examples of such activities are also reported.

  • The patients with tracheal stenosis have become more increasing in recent due to the increased use of tracheostomy and assisted ventilation Anesthetic management during tracheal reconstruction is a concern to the anesthetist and the surgeon, who must share the airway as a operation field and at the same time provide good gas exchange. Multiple technique such as the tube ventilation system or C \ulcornerP bypass method have been recommended to achieve this goals. However, these methods have disadvantages of poor surgical exposure and hemorrhagic complication from using C \ulcornerP bypass The technique for HFJV was first described for bronchoscopy, and it involves positive-pressure breathing with high flow[40 \ulcorner60L/min] of oxygen This flow is directed to a semirigid catheter inserted in the endotracheal tube and the tracheal reconstruction can be done without interruption. From Dec. 1986 to July 1990 we have experienced 6 patients of tracheal stenosis necessitating circumferential resection and end to end anastomosis; 5 patients with tracheal stenosis following cuffed tracheostomy or intubation, a patient with tracheal stenosis due to invasive thyroid cancer. The specific advantages during tracheal reconstruction are unobstructed field during surgical reconstruction and good gas exchange through the procedure.

  • Guidance commands for attitude controlled missiles inevitably take the form of attitude angle commands. On the other hand, many guidance laws compute the accelerations required to achieve their goals. Therefore some integrators must be in use for the attitude controlled missiles to implement the guidance laws. Naturally, the use of the integrator raises the problem of choosing a proper initial value. In this paper, we compute the integrator initial value which minimizes the terminal miss and show that if the total flight time of the mission is long enough, the "optimal" initial value becomes some multiple of the initial heading error or of the given impact angle to the target. We demonstrate the validity of the analysis by showing some linear and nonlinear simulation results.n results.

  • Nowadays, various speech processing systems are being introduced in the fields of robotics. However, real-time processing and high performances are required to properly implement speech processing system for the autonomous robots. Achieving these goals requires advanced hardware techniques including intelligent software algorithms. For example, we need nonlinear amplifier boards which are able to adjust the compression radio (CR) via computer programming. And the necessity for noise reduction, double-buffering on EPLD (Erasable programmable logic device), simultaneous multi-channel AD conversion, distant sound localization will be explained in this paper. These ideas can be used to improve distant and omni-directional speech recognition. This speech processing system, based on embedded Linux system, is supposed to be mounted on the new home service robot, which is being developed at KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology)

  • Intelligent Space(ISpace) is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment, it is very important that the system knows the location information to offer the useful services. In order to achieve these goals, we present a method for representing, tracking and human following by fusing distributed multiple vision systems in ISpace, with application to pedestrian tracking in a crowd. And the article presents the integration of color distributions into particle filtering. Particle filters provide a robust tracking framework under ambiguity conditions. We propose to track the moving objects by generating hypotheses not in the image plan but on the top-view reconstruction of the scene. Comparative results on real video sequences show the advantage of our method for multi-object tracking. Simulations are carried out to evaluate the proposed performance. Also, the method is applied to the intelligent environment and its performance is verified by the experiments.

  • Implementation of mitigation options on land is important for realisation of the goals of the Paris Agreement to stabilize temperature at $2^{\circ}C$. In India, the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) targets include a forestry goal of creation of carbon sinks of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes by 2030. There are however, multiple barriers to implementation of forestry mitigation options in India. They include environmental, social, financial, technological and institutional barriers. The barriers are varied not just across land categories but also for a land category depending on its regional location and distribution. In addition to these barriers is the impeding climate change that places at risk realisation of the mitigation potential as rising temperatures, drought, and fires associated with projected climate change may lead to forests becoming a weaker sink or a net carbon source before the end of the century.

  • In this paper, dynamic path planning of two mobile robots using a modified Hopfield neural network is studied. An area which excludes obstacles and allows gradually changing of activation level of neurons is derived in each step. Next moving step can be determined by searching the next highest activated neuron. By learning repeatedly, the steps will be generated from starting to goal points. A path will be constructed from these steps. Simulation showed the constructed paths of two mobile robots, which are moving across each other to their goals.

  • This study investigates the effects of economic factors on happiness in terms of life satisfaction, one of the most important goals in human life, and examines the moderating role of financial management in the effect of financial stress. Data were collected total 341 individuals in Daejeon, Korea(235 college students and 105 women). The factors influencing life satisfaction were analyzed multiple regression analysis. Effects of moderating variables were tested hierarchical regression analysis. Subjective financial stress was related to both individualistic happiness and collectivistic happiness, whereas objective financial stress had a negative effect only on collectivistic happiness. Financial management (specifically control of expenditure behaviors) had positive effects on both individualistic happiness and collectivistic happiness. Financial management moderated the relationship between financial stress and happiness. The results have important implications.
