  • Background: Multiple myeloma is a malignant silent incurable plasma cell disorder. The present study aimed to assessed the activation of the oxidative stress pathway in afected patients Materials and Methods: Advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs), malondialdehyde (MDA), adenosine deaminase (ADA), total antioxidant capacity (TAC) levels, glutathione, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), ${\alpha}$-tocopherol (vitamin E) in addition to related enzymes glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), glutathione reductase (GSH-R) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were analyzed in sixty patients with multiple myeloma before and after one month treatment with induction therapy. Results: The results of the study showed a significant elevation in AOPPs, MDA, ADA levels in patients with multiple myeloma before and after treatment in comparison to healthy control samples In contrast TAC glutathione, vitamin C and E, and the antioxidant enzymes levels were decreased significantly. On comparing samples of MM patients after treatment, there was significant increase of TAC glutathione, vitamin C and E, and the antioxidant enzymes in parallel with decreasing AOPPs, MDA and ADA levels in comparison with samples of patients before treatment. Conclusions: The results indicate oxidative stress and DNA damage activity increase in MM and are alleviated in response to therapy.

  • Multiple quantile regression that simultaneously estimate several conditional quantiles of response given covariates can provide a comprehensive information about the relationship between the response and covariates. Some quantile estimates can cross if conditional quantiles are separately estimated; however, this violates the definition of the quantile. To tackle this issue, multiple quantile regression with non-crossing constraints have been developed. In this paper, we carry out a comparison study on several popular methods for non-crossing multiple linear quantile regression to provide practical guidance on its application.

  • A completely randomized growth curve model was defined by Zerbe(1979). We propose the fully significant difference procedure for multiple comparisons of completely randomized growth curve model. The standard F test is useful tool to multiple comparisons of the completely randomized growth curve model. The proposed method is applied to experimental data.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the Multiple Intelligence and the technological problem solving and the differences between the two. There were a group of 200 third grade middle school students that were comprised of 100 boys and 100 girls and what the difference is exited between the boys and the girls. To measure the students' Multiple Intelligence, MI(Multiple Intelligent)Test designed by Youngrin, Moon was used. As the testing instrument of the Technological problem Solving, we use the test developed by National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Students Testing(CRESST). The results were; First, In comparison with the boys and girls' multiple intelligence part, there were individual differences in musical intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, and naturalistic intelligence of multiple intelligence. Second, In comparison to the technological problem solving part, there were individual differences in self-regulation and there was a mild difference in understanding of the contents. Third, The multiple intelligence related with the self-regulation is continuous with logical-mathematical intelligence, intra-personal intelligence and linguistic intelligence. Fourth, The multiple intelligence related with the technological problem solving strategy is continuous with logical-mathematical intelligence and musical intelligence. Fifth, The multiple intelligence related with the understanding of the contents is continuous with the logical-mathematical intelligence and naturalistic intelligence. To improve the students' technological problem solving ability, it is required the development of the curriculum which focus on the improvement of logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, intra-personal intelligence, linguistic intelligence and naturalistic intelligence of the students.

  • This paper proposes a system for measuring the 3D human bodies using the multiple 2D images. The system establishes the multiple image input circumstance from the digital camera for image measurement. The algorithm considering perspective projection leads us to estimate the 3D human bodies from the multiple 2D images such as frontal. side and rear views. The results of the image measurement is compared those of the direct measurement and the 3D scanner for the total 40 items (12 heights, 15 widths and 13 depths). Three persons measure the 40 items using the three measurement methods. In comparison of the results obtained among the measurement methods and the persons, the results between the image measurement and the 3D scanner are very similar. However, the errors for the direct measurement are relatively larger than those between the image measurement and the 3D scanner. For example, the maximum errors between the image measurement and the 3D scanner are 0.41cm in height, 0.39cm in width and 0.95cm in depth. The errors are acceptable in body measurement. Performance of the image measurement is superior to the direct. because the algorithm estimates the 3D positions using the perspective projection. In above comparison, the image measurement is expected as a new method for measuring the 3D body, since it has the various advantages of the direct measurement and 3D scanner in performance for measurement as well as in the devices, cost, Portability and man power.

  • This study investigated the effect of presenting modes of multiple analogies on middle school students' understanding of science concepts. A total of 122 7th-graders was randomly assigned to one of 4 groups. After reading one of 4 analogy-learning materials in different analogy presenting modes (the number of analogs, the number of mappings between analog and target, and the comparison of similarity between analogs). the students took a conception test. The results indicated that using analogs and mappings twice were not significant factors in recalling and applying science concepts. However, the comparison of similarity between analogs was found to be a significant factor in applying science concepts. Educational implications are discussed.

  • In this paper, we present performance comparison of two methods to localize multiple robots. One is extended Kalman filter and the other is constraint propagation technique. Extended Kalman filter is conventional probabilistic method which gives the sub-optimal estimation rather than guarantee any boundary for true position of robot. In case of constraint propagation, it can give a boundary containing true robot position value. Especially, we deal with cooperative localization problem in outdoor environment for multiple robots equipped with GPS, gyro meter, wheel encoder. In simulation results, we present strength and weakness for localization methods based on extend Kalman filter and constraint propagation technique.

  • The object of this paper is to find out a coolant level, which is economic and similar to the conventional level, high level, in cutting temperature. For this, new coolant level, called a low level, was proposed, which is about 1/4 of conventional level. And the cutting temperature of each coolant level in turning was analyzed using statistical method. Firstly, it was analyzed that the temperature mean of each coolant level is not equal by ANOVA-test. Secondly by Tukey's HSD, one of multiple comparisons, it was analyzed that the temperature mean of low level is similar to that of high level and different from that of none level.

  • The time implicit point SGS scheme is applied to compute hypersonic viscous flows in thermochemical nonequilibrium. The performance of the point SGS scheme is then compared with those of the line SGS and the LU-SGS schemes. Comparison of convergence histories with the effect of multiple forward and backward sweeps are made for the flow over a 2D cylinder experimentally studied by Hornung and the flow over a hemisphere at conditions corresponding to the peak heating condition during the reentry flight of an SSTO vehicle. Results indicate that the point SGS scheme with multiple sweeps is as robust and efficient as the line SGS scheme. For the point SGS and the LU-SGS scheme, the rate of improvement in convergence is largest with two sweep cycles. However, for the line SGS scheme, it is found that more than one sweep cycle deteriorates the convergence rate.

  • This paper proposes the acquisition system using the multiple antennas in DS-CDMA system. The conventional acquisition schemes using multiple antennas are the methods to utilize the multi-antenna combining and the fixed multi-beam forming of a serial acquisition. Then, this paper proposes the hybrid acquisition scheme using the fixed multi-beam forming. The numerical results show the performance comparison of two acquisition schemes in terms of the acquisition time ill the multipath Rayleigh fading channel.
