  • Traffic sign detection is the domain of automatic driver assistant systems. There are literatures for traffic sign detection using color information, however, color-based method contains ill-posed condition and to extract the region of interest is difficult. In our work, we propose a method for traffic sign detection using k-means clustering method, back-propagation neural network, and projection histogram features that yields the robustness for ill-posed condition. Using the color information of traffic signs enables k-means algorithm to cluster the region of interest for the detection efficiently. In each step of clustering, a cluster is verified by the neural network so that the cluster exactly represents the location of a traffic sign. Proposed method is practical, and yields robustness for the unexpected region of interest or for multiple detections.

  • This paper introduces a clustering for Central Control System in New Distribution Automation System. There are three primary benefits to use clustering: improved availability, easier manageability and more cost-effective scalability. Availability: Clustering can automatically detect the failure of an application or server and quickly restart it on a surviving server. Clients only experience a momentary pause in service. Manageability: Clustering lets administrators quickly inspect the status of all cluster resources and easily move workload around onto different servers within a cluster. Scalability: Applications can use the Clustering services through the MSCS Application Programming Interface(API) to do dynamic load balancing and scale across multiple servers within a cluster.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of shopping orientations on clothing purchasing behavior according to residence. The data was obtained from questionnaires filled out by 530 females living in Seoul and Jecheon. For data analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, t-test, Cronbach's $\alpha$, Duncan's multiple range test and cluster analysis were used. For shopping orientation, five factors of orientation were found and labeled as hedonism, brand and store loyalty, conformity, economy and rationality factor. Based on five shopping orientation factors, women were classified into five clusters(self-centered and rational, recreational, economy and shopping low involvement, economical and conformative cluster). Each cluster showed significantly different clothing purchasing behaviors (problem recognition, information search and evaluative criteria) and had different demographic variables(age, income, marital status and school career). Finally, residence and shopping orientations have influenced various clothing purchasing behavior. In conclusion, residence was the important factor which influenced on shopping orientation and clothing purchasing behavior.

  • A new method has been developed to solve the star cluster membership problem. It is based on synthetic photometry employing the Black Body concept as stellar radiation simulator. Synthetic color-magnitude diagram is constructed showing the main sequence band and the positions of binary star systems of combinations of various components through different photometric tracks. The method has been applied to the Hyades. The cluster membership problem has been re-appraised for the cluster (both single and binary) stars. For the binary members, the components' spectral types have been derived by the method. The results obtained agree very well with those found in literature, The method is simpler than the others and can be developed to undertake other cases as multiple star systems.

  • Radio relics, Mpc-size elongated diffuse radio emissions found at galaxy cluster outskirts, are known as the result of shock acceleration during the cluster merger. Theories have claimed that low Mach number shocks are too inefficient to create the observed properties of radio relics. Alternative scenarios such as fossil cosmic ray electrons (CRes) from AGNs are required to explain the observations. However, how exactly the fossil CRes from AGNs can supply the Mpc-size radio relic is still an open question. In this study, we present our recent uGMRT radio observation results of the merging galaxy cluster Abell 514. We found three remarkable AGN jet tails that may have undergone multiple reorientations and extend nearly 800 kpc. Using multi-frequency data, we have performed spectral analysis along the AGN tails and track how the tails lose or gain energy as they propagate in the intracluster medium. We will discuss whether these AGN jets can provide sufficient seed CRes to radio relics.

  • Industrial cluster is adopted as a key policy for the development of regional and national economies in many developed or under-developing countries. The industrial cluster is basically concerned with knowledge sharing and exchanges among diverse functions such as firms, research institutions, and universities in a regional or innovation-network context. Therefore, activities to promote knowledge sharing and exchanges in an industrial cluster become very important activities to reach to the original purpose of an industrial cluster. In this study, factors affecting performance of those activities to promote knowledge sharing and exchanges in an industrial cluster are defined and the effects are examined through empirical study. For this research, surveys on enterprisers and employees in industrial cluster were conducted and statistical analysis methods such as correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and canonical correlation analysis were adopted for analyses.

  • Multi-path routing has been studied widely in wired networks. Multi-path routing is known to increase end-to-end throughput and provide load balancing in wired networks. However, its advantage is not obvious in wireless multi-hop network because the traffic along the multiple paths may interfere with adjacent paths. In the paper, we introduce a new multi-path routing scheme, Cluster-Based Multi-Path Routing for multi-hop wireless networks. The main idea of the proposed routing scheme is to extend the hop-by-hop multi-path to a cluster-by-cluster multi-path. In cluster network, each cluster can work independently from other clusters and hence reduce interference. The purpose of the proposed scheme is to find a less interfering path for wireless multi-hop networks. We also showed the throughput improvement of the proposed scheme through simulations.

  • For molecular dynamics requires high-performance computers or supercomputers to handle huge amount of computation, it is not until recent days that the application of molecular dynamics to materials fracture simulations draw some attention from many researchers. With the recent advent of high-performance computers, computation intensive methods become more tractable than ever. However, carrying out materials simulation on high-performance computers costs too much in general. In this study, a PC cluster consisting of multiple commodity PCs is established and computer simulations of materials with cracks are carried out on it via molecular dynamics technique. The effect of the number of nodes, speedup factors, and communication time between nodes are measured to verify the performance of the PC cluster. Upon using the PC cluster, materials fracture simulations with more than 50,000 molecules are carried out successfully.

  • In Ad-Hoc network, the cluster structure enables effective use of multiple channels, reduces the number of control messages, and increase the scalability of network, Also, it is employed for reducing the number of broadcast messages in an Ad-Hoc network. With the consideration of these advantages, it is desirable that a cluster structure keeps a few clusters in the network, Generally, the cluster formation scheme based on connectivity yields fewer clusters than the other schemes. However, the connectivity based scheme may yield even more clusters than the other schemes according to the network topology. In this paper, a cluster formation scheme dividing the cluster formation into two phases is proposed. In the first phase, the lowest connectivity host in neighborhood initiates the cluster formation. Then, an adjustment procedure for affiliating a lot of the lowest connectivity hosts is employed. In the second phase, the hosts which were not affiliated to the first phase clusters are grouped into one or more clusters through criterions of connectivity and host ID. As a result, the proposed scheme yields a fewer clusters compared with existing other schemes in fully distributed method. The simulation results proves that our scheme is better than LIDCP(3) and HCCP(3).
