Visual Weight of Interface Design (인터페이스 디자인의 시각적 무게)

  • In this study, we found that the design can be configured according to the visual weight in the design of the interface. First of all, interface design has gone through the era of squeeze morphism to express depth and dimension by borrowing part of material design or head design from flat design. This is due to the characteristics of metro UI and flat design, which are difficult to express depth and dimension, but in material design, there was no separate device for inducing eyes, so Gestalt theory showed the principle of visual weight. Positive and negative, the size and placement of regions, proximity, closure, and notion were closely related to visual weight and orientation, and in some cases, it could be applied to the interface.

  • The problem of Metal Area Segmentation (MAS) in X-ray CT images is a very hard task because of metal artifacts. This research features a practical yet effective method for MAS in X-ray CT images that exploits both projection image and reconstructed image spaces. We employ the Relevant Neighbor Area (RNA) idea [1] originally developed for projection image inpainting in order to create a novel feature in the projection image space that distinctively represents metal and near-metal pixels with opposite signs. In the reconstructed result of the feature image, application of a simple thresholding technique provides accurate segmentation of metal areas due to nice separation of near-metal areas from metal areas in its histogram.

  • This paper aims to introduce the numerical methods for solving the optimal control theory to model bufferbloat problem. Mathematical tools are useful to provide insight for system engineers and users to understand better about what we are facing right now while experiment in a large-scale testbed can encourage us to implement in realistic scenario. In this paper, we introduce a survey of the numerical methods for solving the optimal control problem. We propose the dynamic optimization sweeping algorithm for optimal control of the active queue management. Simulation results in network simulator ns2 demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can obtain the stability faster than the others while still maintain a short queue length (≈10 packets) and low delay experience for arriving packets (0.4 seconds).

  • Deep learning approach based on convolution neural network (CNN) has extensively studied in the field of computer vision. However, periocular feature extraction using CNN was not well studied because it is practically impossible to collect large volume of biometric data. This study uses the ResNet model which was trained with the ImageNet dataset. To overcome the problem of insufficient training data, we focused on the training of multi-layer perception (MLP) having simple structure rather than training the CNN having complex structure. It first extracts features using the pretrained ResNet model and reduces the feature dimension by principle component analysis (PCA), then trains a MLP classifier. Experimental results with the public periocular dataset UBIPr show that the proposed method is effective in person authentication using periocular region. Especially it has the advantage which can be directly applied for other biometric traits.

A Kind of Digital Intelligent System for the Ink Hue Analysis

  • This paper introduces a kind of new ink hue analysis system (HAS) based on the model-distinguishing technology and briefly casts light on the principle of the analysis. Also, it stresses the hardware structure, the software designing methods and programming procedure of the HAS as well as its interface. And the simulation result of the experiment data was given. The study shows that this kind of system can help to improve the color arrangements and managements of ink. The accuracy has reached ${\pm}0.5%$ compared with high precision density meter.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the misconception flowchart of programming control structure and to suggest it as a method for improving computational thinking. In this study, we divide programming control structure concept into sequential, iteration, selection, and function, analyze what concept and principle are difficult for each learner, and what kind of misconception flowchart is drawn in the Introduction of C Programming course for beginners' programming learning. As an example, we show that a lesson learned from the process of correcting the misconception flowchart to the correct flowchart in the course.

An Application of a Parallel Algorithm on an Image Recognition

  • This paper is to introduce an application of face recognition algorithm in parallel. We have experiments of 25 images with different motions and simulated the image recognitions; grouping of the image vectors, image normalization, calculating average image vectors, etc. We also discuss an analysis of the related eigen-image vectors and a parallel algorithm. To develop the parallel algorithm, we propose a new type of initial matrices for eigenvalue problem. If A is a symmetric matrix, initial matrices for eigen value problem are investigated: the "optimal" one, which minimize ${\parallel}C-A{\parallel}_F$ and the "super optimal", which minimize ${\parallel}I-C^{-1}A{\parallel}_F$. In this paper, we present a general new approach to the design of an initial matrices to solving eigenvalue problem based on the new optimal investigating C with preserving the characteristic of the given matrix A. Fast all resulting can be inverted via fast transform algorithms with O(N log N) operations.

  • 훈민정음 창제당시의 모든 한글 음절을 모두 표현함에 있어서 현재의 컴퓨터 환경은 표현방법과 폰트의 부족으로 입력 및 출력을 완전하게 할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 훈민정음해례에서 정의한 약 399억 음절을 컴퓨터 위에서 표현할 수 있는 폰트를 제작함에 있어서 글꼴 설계의 경제적이고 효율적인 방법을 개발하는 데 초점을 둔다. 그렇게 하려면 완성형이 아닌 조합형 글꼴 설계가 요구되며, 자소들을 복자모를 뺀 오직 낱자소만으로 제작함으로써, 음절구성 형태에 따른 낱자소 8개 형식과 세 가지 타입으로 설계한다. 즉, 컴퓨터상에서는 모든 한글이 낱자소만 이용하여 풀어쓰기 형태로 입력되며, 화면에 출력할 때는 풀어쓰기 형태의 자소들을 모아쓰기로 표현하여 낱자소를 초성, 중성, 종성만으로 둘 또는 세 글자 복자모로 확장하여 표현한다. 그러므로 최소한의 폰트모양을 이용하여 훈민정음 창제 당시의 모든 한글 399억 음절을 컴퓨터에 표현할 수 있도록 한다.

Comparison of the Driving Modes of an Audio Power Amplifier Considering the Characteristics of the Loudspeaker: Voltage Drive vs. Current Drive (스피커의 특성을 고려한 음향 전력 증폭기 구동 방식의 비교: 전압 구동 방식과 전류 구동 방식)

  • Audio power amplifiers have been designed based on the premise that the impedance of loudspeakers is fixed at nominal 4 ohms or 8 ohms. However, it is known that the impedance varies with frequency and takes on the nominal value at some limited frequencies. The principle of the loudspeaker operation reveals that the sound pressure produced by the loudspeaker is proportional to the current flowing in the voice coil, not the voltage between the two terminals. We take the characteristics of the loudspeaker into account and compare the frequency responses of the loudspeaker in voltage-drive mode and current-drive mode via computer simulations, to conclude that the audio amplifier drive mode should be re-considered in an effort to improve the sound quality.

  • 훈민정음 창제당시의 모든 한글 음절인 약 399억 음절을 표현하기 위해서 자소형 코드만을 입력하여 이를 조합 음절 형태로 구성하고, 최적 폰트 코드를 출력함으로써 모든 한글을 표현할 수 있었다. 하지만, 이러한 최적 폰트 코드는 모든 한글을 표현하는 데에만 치중하였지만, 키보드로부터 입력되는 자소형 코드와 화면에 음절을 구성하며 출력되는 폰트 코드의 일치하지 않는 문제점이 발생하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 실험을 통하여 입력된 자소형 코드를 파일입출력을 이용하여 파일로 저장 후 이를 본 연구에서의 옛한글 입력기의 폰트 변환 모듈을 사용하여 음절을 표현하여, 자소형 코드와 폰트 코드와의 일치함을 보이고자 한다.
