A Multimedia Query Language for Object-Oriented Multimedia Databases (객체 지향 멀티미디어 데이타베이스를 위한 멀티미디어 질의어)

  • In this paper, we propose a multimedia query language MQL which defines and manipulates multimedia data as integration of monomedia data in time and space. The MQL is designed for a multimedia data model, called the object-relationship model, and based on the multimedia object calculus which formally describes operations on multimedia data. The SQL- like syntax for class definition and object manipulation, such as retrieval, insert, update, and delete, is defined. We show how the MQL can represent the user queries using composite temporal-spatial class structures and various relationships, such as equivalence and sequence.

Object-based Multimedia Contents Storage for Mobile Devices

  • Mobile devices, such as PDAs, portable multimedia players, are more likely to encompass large storage devices with prevalance of high-quality multimedia contents. This paper proposes an object-based multimedia contents storage architecture that employs the object-based storage device model and the iSCSI protocol. It also provides a multimedia content player that operates directly with the proposed storage architecture. We implement both the proposed storage architecture and the multimedia content player upon the Linux environment. Performance evaluation by playing MP3 multimedia contents reveals that the proposed storage architecture reduces the total power consumption by 9%, compared with an existing networked storage. This enhancement is mainly contributed to the fact that a large portion of the file system is moved into the object-based multimedia contents storage from the mobile device.

  • We propose an object recognition system and experiential game contents using Kinect to maximize object recognition rate by utilizing underwater robots. we implement an ice hockey game based on object-aware interactive contents to validate the excellence of the proposed system. The object recognition system, which is a preprocessor module, is composed based on Kinect and OpenCV. Network sockets are utilized for object recognition communications between C/S. The problem of existing research, degradation of object recognition at long distance, is solved by combining the system development method suggested in the study. As a result of the performance evaluation, the underwater robot object recognized all target objects (90.49%) with 80% of accuracy from a 2m distance, revealing 42.46% of F-Measure. From a 2.5m distance, it recognized 82.87% of the target objects with 60.5% of accuracy, showing 34.96% of F-Measure. Finally, it recognized 98.50% of target objects with 59.4% of accuracy from a 3m distance, showing 37.04% of F-measure.

  • Recently the Internet and multimedia technique quickly, develops and to follow multimedia information which is many at the network it is quick and widely, it will be able to exchange. And the synchronization problem for the time and a space of the multimedia object which is various exists. In order to solve like this problem point SMIL where it puts a base in XML it will be able to compose the multimedia object expression which is various from W3C standard was proposed. About under integrating to express a multimedia data the individual multimedia object of the synchronization language for and chain with time it will be able to integrate with the multimedia presentation which has become motive anger space in order. In this thesis provides that uses various multimedia object and users integrate multimedia object with synchronization easily SMIL Authoring system that can presentation design and implemented.

  • According to the current increase of the usefulness of information by Internet and Communication network, several methods are proposed in which multimedia information may be efficiently managed and serviced. This paper proposes FBOM(Fuzzy-Based Object Manager) using $\alpha$-cut in Object manager for Fuzzy-Based Multimedia Post-Office Box construction. The proposed system utilizes object discrimination, fuzzy filtering, and class generation structure in order to manage object using Fuzzy filtering. To know how well the proposed system are able to work, this paper have tested against the methods with 1000 items of multimedia information, and our system are compared with Random-key method and FBOM method.

  • In this paper, multiple object tracking system in a known environment is proposed. It extracts moving areas shaped on objects in video sequences and detects racks of moving objects. Color invariant co-occurrence matrices are exploited to extract the plausible object blocks and the correspondences between adjacent video frames. The measures of class separability derived from the features of co-occurrence matrices are used to improve the performance of tracking. The experimented results are presented.

  • Recently, although there are strong requirements to manage multimedia data, there are a few researches on efficient storage and retrieval of multimedia data. In this paper, we design an object storage engine which can store and retrieve various multimedia objects efficiently. For this, we design an object manager for storing a variety of multimedia data and an inverted file manager for indexing unformatted text objects. In addition, we implement the objects storage engine which can support concurrency control and recovery schemes of DBMS by integrating the object manager and the inverted file manager with the SHORE low-level storage system. Finally, we develope a TIROS(Thesis Information Retrieval using Object Storage engine) system in order to verify the usefulness of our object storage engine.

Classification of Man-Made and Natural Object Images in Color Images

  • We propose a method that classifies images into two object types man-made and natural objects. A central object is extracted from each image by using central object extraction method[1] before classification. A central object in an images defined as a set of regions that lies around center of the image and has significant color distribution against its surrounding. We define three measures to classify the object images. The first measure is energy of edge direction histogram. The energy is calculated based on the direction of only non-circular edges. The second measure is an energy difference along directions in Gabor filter dictionary. Maximum and minimum energy along directions in Gabor filter dictionary are selected and the energy difference is computed as the ratio of the maximum to the minimum value. The last one is a shape of an object, which is also represented by Gabor filter dictionary. Gabor filter dictionary for the shape of an object differs from the one for the texture in an object in which the former is computed from a binarized object image. Each measure is combined by using majority rule tin which decisions are made by the majority. A test with 600 images shows a classification accuracy of 86%.

  • Object recognition and object location have always drawn much interest. Also, recently various computational models have been designed. One of the big issues in this domain is the lack of an appropriate model for extracting important part of the picture and estimating the object place in the same environments that caused low accuracy. To solve this problem, a new Salient Based Bag of Visual Word (SBBoVW) model for object recognition and object location estimation is presented. Contributions lied in the present study are two-fold. One is to introduce a new approach, which is a Salient Based Bag of Visual Word model (SBBoVW) to recognize difficult objects that have had low accuracy in previous methods. This method integrates SIFT features of the original and salient parts of pictures and fuses them together to generate better codebooks using bag of visual word method. The second contribution is to introduce a new algorithm for finding object place based on the salient map automatically. The performance evaluation on several data sets proves that the new approach outperforms other state-of-the-arts.

A Framework and Synchronization Mechanism for Real-time Multimedia Streaming Services based on the Time-triggered Message-triggered Object (실시간 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 위한 Time-triggered Message-triggered Object 기반의 프레임워크 및 동기화 메커니즘)

  • In this paper, we present a new framework and stream synchronization mechanism to effectively support developing real-time multimedia streaming services by using a real-time object model named TMO (Time-triggered Message-triggered Object). The purpose of the framework is twofold. Firstly, the framework helps developers to design complex distributed real-time multimedia streaming services. Secondly, it supports timely streaming facilities. In order to achieve these goals, our framework is consist of Multimedia Streaming TMO, MMStreaming TMO Support Library and TMO Support Middleware. The time-triggered spontaneous feature of the MMStream TMO and a global-time based synchronization scheme is used as a regulator against the irregular deliveries and processing of media units caused by QoS non-guaranteed systems and communication channels. In conclusion, timely service capability of our framework is expected to contributed to overall enhancement of the real-time multimedia streaming.
