  • A VPN is a private network that uses a public network to connect remote sites or users together. As its popularity grows, companies, organization and even the government turned to it as a means of extending their own networks. To setup a Virtual Private a proper IP VPN Architecture must first be selected. In this paper, the types of IP Virtual Private Network Architecture like the MPLS-Based, IPSec-Based and the SSL/TLS-Based are discussed and compared. The comparison may serve as a guide for selecting the proper IP Virtual Private Network Architecture that is suitable for the company's needs.

  • 본 논문에서는 Photon Unity Network[1]를 사용하여 멀티플레이 VR게임 개발 방법을 제안한다. Unity 3D와 Oculus Framework를 활용하여 플레이어 기능을 구현했다. 그리고 Photon Unity Network를 이용하여 서버와 여러 명의 플레이어를 연결해 줄 수 있다.

A Mobile-aware Adaptive Rate Control Scheme for Improving the User Perceived QoS of Multimedia Streaming Services in Wireless Broadband Networks

  • Recently, due to the prevalence of various mobile devices and wireless broadband networks, there has been a significant increase in interest and demand for multimedia streaming services such as the mobile IPTV. In such a wireless broadband network, transmitting a continuous stream of multimedia data is difficult to achieve due to mobile stations (MSs) movement. Providing Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia video streaming applications requires the server and/or client to be network-aware and adaptive. Therefore, in order to deploy a mobile IPTV service in wireless broadband networks, offering users efficient wireless resource utilization and seamlessly offering user perceived QoS are important issues. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive streaming scheme, called MARC (Mobile-aware Adaptive Rate Control), which adjusts the quality of bit-stream and transmission rate of video streaming based on the wireless channel status and network status. The proposed scheme can control the rate of multimedia streaming to be suitable for the wireless channel status by using awareness information of the wireless channel quality and the mobile station location. The proposed scheme can provide a seamless multimedia playback service in wireless broadband networks in addition to improving the QoS of multimedia streaming services. The proposed MARC scheme alleviates the discontinuity of multimedia playback and allocates a suitable client buffer to the wireless broadband network. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • The number of users and applications of the Internet is increasing and network traffic is increased in proportion to that enormous]y. Application and services, which are provided from a relatively long distance away, running on wide area network are not independent of the current network state. As a multimedia service is provided to a lot of users over the Internet, network status is one of factors to be considered in providing high quality of multimedia service. In this parer, one of methods to get network information is discussed and it is applied to a multimedia service.

  • Explosively growing service of digital multimedia data increases the need for highly scalable low-cost storage. This paper proposes the new storage architecture based on torus network which does not need network switch and erasure coding for efficient storage usage for high scalability and efficient disk utilization. The proposed model has to compensate for the disadvantage of long network latency and network processing overhead of torus network. The proposed storage model was compared to two most popular distributed file system, GlusterFS and Ceph distributed file systems through a prototype implementation. The performance of prototype system shows outstanding results than erasure coding policy of two file systems and mostly even better results than replication policy of them.

  • With the collection of huge volumes of text, image, audio, video or combinations of these, in a word multimedia data, the need to explore them in order to discover possible new, unexpected and possibly valuable information for decision making was born. Starting from the already existing data mining, but not as its extension, multimedia mining appeared as a distinct field with increased complexity and many characteristic aspects. Later, the concept of big data was extended to multimedia, resulting in multimedia big data, which in turn attracted the multimedia big data mining process. This paper aims to survey multimedia data mining, starting from the general concept and following the transition from multimedia data mining to multimedia big data mining, through an up-to-date synthesis of works in the field, which is a novelty, from our best of knowledge.

  • In this paper, we describe ubiquitous environments and the trend of convergence that is an evolution path of current telecommunication, and show the concept of broadband convergence network, service feature and evolution path. In order to converge wire and wireless communication, telecommunication and broadcasting, voice and data efficiently, broadband convergence network divides a network into service layer, control layer, transport layer, ubiquitous access and terminal layer. Broadband convergence network will be a network that can provide and control broadband multimedia services with QoS and securityof different and customized level. Then we depict characteristics and types of broadband multimedia service, and describe the characteristic of broadband convergence network. Finally, we show ubiquitous network based on the broadband convergence network to provide ubiquitous service which is a future telecommunication service. We also describe requirements of ubiquitous network such as an intelligent and context based platform, convergence terminals, ubiquitous computing devices, etc., and give various emerging technologies and those applications.

  • 본 논문에서는 neural network을 이용한 이미지 장르(유형) 분류 시스템을 소개한다. 이 논문에서 제안된 시스템은 이미지를 예술(art), 사진(photo), 만화(cartoon) 이미지라는 세 가지 장르(유형) 중 하나로 분류한다. 이미지의 특성은 표준 MPEG-7 visual descriptor를 사용하여 추출된 후, neural networks를 이용하여 학습된다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 제안된 시스템이 80% 이상의 이미지들을 정확한 장르(유형)로 분류하는 것을 보여준다.

  • 인터넷을 중심으로 최근의 네트워크의 발전은 데이터 전송량의 범위를 멀티미디어 정보까지 확대시킴에 따라 멀티미디어 서비스를 보장하기 위해서 기존 인터넷의 Best Effort service에서 제공하지 못하는 end-to-end QoS(Quality of Service)의 제공이 필수적이다. 이를 위해 일정한 수준의 대역폭, 전송지연, 지연변이, 데이터 손실률 등의 network parameter 뿐만 아니라 시스템 내에서도 일정 수준의 CPU time 이나 메모리를 보장해 주어야 한다. 이에 따라 한정된 자원 안에서 멀티미디어 데이터를 분산시켜 네트워크 자원을 효율적으로 관리하기 위해 네트워크 자원 상황에 따라 적절하게 서비스 레벨을 조절하는 QoS 기반 통신 미들웨어의 개발이 시급하다. 또한 네트워크 시스템 및 application 개발자의 입장에서는 이를 구현하기 위해 실제 사용자가 느끼고 평가하게 되는 QoS의 객관적이고 사실적인 측정이 절실히 요구된다. 이를 위해 ATM 망상에서 보다 편리한 QoS 측정장치를 개발하고 또한 이러한 측정기술을 바탕으로 데이터를 추출하여 향상된 QoS를 제공하기 위한 개선된 미들웨어의 실질적인 메커니즘 개발과 검증에 적용한다.

  • 본 논문은 홈 네트워크 환경에서 멀티미디어 원격 교육을 위한 소프트웨어 오류를 감지하기에 적합한 에이전트이다. 이 시스템은 ED, ES로 구성되어 있다. ED는 홈 네트워크 환경에서 멀티미디어 원격 교육을 위하여 훅 킹 기법으로 오류를 감지하는 에이전트이다. ES는 홈 네트워크 환경에서 멀티미디어 원격 교육을 위하여 오류를 공유하는 에이전트이다. 멀티미디어 공동 작업 환경의 관점에서 오류 공유는 협동 작업에 참가하는 참가자에게 상호작용적으로 오류를 공유한다.
