  • Traditional Internet services provide the same level of qualify to all users without considering about their application's QoS (quality of service) requirements. Because the wireless and Internet technologies are evolving rapidly, the powerful mobile devices are more widely used. Therefore, the new applications such as DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting), VoD (video on demand), telemedicine, and etc. demand appropriate QoS and host mobility. To satisfy free mobility and QoS, we deploy Diffserv (differentiated services) model to the mobile IPv6 networks. We propose the operational procedures and cost analyzing models for providing an MN's mobility and QoS. Also its performance is presented by cost analyzing and the future works are described.

Design and Implementation of Assisted GPS Navigation Systems Using TPEG Protocol of Terrestrial DMB Data Services (지상파 DMB 데이터 서비스의 TPEG프로토콜을 이용한 Assisted GPS 항법 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a new assisted global positioning system (A-GPS) using terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) data services. Because of the weak signal strength from GPS satellite and the signal blockage, it is difficult for the telematics terminal to determine the position in urban area. Proposed A-GPS system calculates pseudo range (PR) from timing information of GPS satellites and obtains the satellite information such as ephemeris from T-DMB station to determine the current position. Compared to conventional GPS system, the proposed system has better performance in terms of the fast time to first fix (TTFF), low horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP). Experimental results show that the proposed system is a feasible and robust solution.

  • With the advent of Ubiquitous era, Korean government understood its strategic importance and formulated 'IT839 Strategies' with various action plans not to miss the great opportunities which it may allow and eventually to realize u-Korea. As a result, m-Commerce is actualized and new types of Ubiquitous services such as digital multimedia broadcasting(DMB) and wireless broadband Internet(WiBro) are now on their commercial stages. Digital contents are the key success factors of these new services. Digital contents industry is regarded as next generation of growth engine in the digital economy, because it is knowledge-based and high value-added global industry affecting positively on the whole private and public sectors. This paper reviewed the characteristics, business models, technical and market trend of digital contents to be compatible with Ubiquitous environment. Also, it reviewed the development strategies of DMB and WiBro services, which are newly introduced and commercialized in Korea to make it as world leader in these fields. It may be concluded that Korea should make more efforts to development market-oriented digital contents for Ubiquitous era and to realize the sustained economic growth.

  • At present, with the rise of smart-phone market supported the Wi-Fi, smart-phone based network content has propagated rapidly. But, network content service is difficult in feature phone and multimedia device not supporting the Wi-Fi or supporting only the bluetooth. This paper was used the zigbee technology supporting low power, low cost, availability, multi channel, broadcasting compared to the bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It will provide a variable network game development by utilizing the zigbee technology. Also, it is provide the development of variable mobile network contents using the zigbee.

An Optimal Framework of Video Adaptation and Its Application to Rate Adaptation Transcoding

  • The adaptation of video according to the heterogeneous and dynamic resource constraints on networks and devices, as well as on user preferences, is a promising approach for universal access and consumption of video content. For optimal adaptation that satisfies the constraints while maximizing the utility that results from the adapted video, it is necessary to devise a systematic way of selecting an appropriate adaptation operation among multiple feasible choices. This paper presents a general conceptual framework that allows the formulation of various adaptations as constrained optimization problems by modeling the relations among feasible adaptation operations, constraints, and utilities. In particular, we present the feasibility of the framework by applying it to a use case of rate adaptation of MPEG-4 video with an explicit modeling of adaptation employing a combination of frame dropping and discrete cosine transform coefficient dropping, constraint, utility, and their mapping relations. Furthermore, we provide a description tool that describes the adaptation-constraint-utility relations as a functional form referred to as a utility function, which has been accepted as a part of the terminal and network quality of service tool in MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA).

  • MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream)는 DTV(Digital Television), IPTV(Internet Protocol Television), DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 등 디지털 방송 분야에서 압축된 오디오 및 비디오 데이터를 다중화하는 데에 전 세계적으로 널리 사용되고 있다. MPEG-2 TS 표준이 제정된 것은 1990년대 초반으로서 20여 년이 지난 오늘날의 방송과 통신 환경에 적합하지 않은 부분이 많이 포함되어 있다. 이러한 상황을 고려하여, MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)에서는 2014년에 MPEG-2 TS를 대체하고자 차세대 멀티미디어 전송 표준으로서 MMT(MPEG Media Transport)를 표준화하였다. 특히 네트워크 환경의 발전에 따라, MMT 표준은 IP 친화적이고 여러 가지 다른 종류의 네트워크를 병용한 멀티미디어 전달이 쉽도록 설계되었다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 방송에 의해 수신되는 MPEG-2 TS로부터 실시간으로 MMTP(MMT Protocol) 스트림을 생성하여 UDP/IP로 유무선 인터넷을 통해 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 제공하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 이를 위해 MPEG-2 TS 실시간 변환 기능을 갖춘 MMT 스트리밍 서버와 이로부터 서비스를 받을 수 있는 MMT 클라이언트를 구현하고 그 동작을 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

Thereupon multicast technique, method reducing loss of bandwith, for multimedia data transmission was proposed. This paper verify efficiency after analysis about seperated tree management and multicast traffic transmission method for removing complexity of multicast protocal.

Thereupon multicast technique, method reducing loss of bandwith, for multimedia data transmission was proposed. This paper proposes method to solve overhead problem in the middle router through group management and capsuling with the Xcast technique added Disignated Router(DR). To solve the middle router not supporting IPv6, Xcast using tunneling technique in the IPv6 design and analyze the performance through a simulated examination.

  • This paper introduces the testbed configuration for telematics wireless communications using terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) network. The testbed for telematics wireless communications is consisted of indoor laboratory testbed and outdoor field testbed. As a result of research, are derived testbed configurations for individual function verification at the indoor laboratory and performance test at the outdoor test road. In addition, a return channel configuration is described for interactive protocol as necessary for telematics services using T-DMB.

  • 동등한 영상의 풀질을 유지하면서 기존의 비디오 압축 표준보다 30퍼센트 이상의 비트 절감효과를 내는 H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC(Advanced Video Coding) 표준이 최근 확정되었다. AVC는 국내 지상파 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 멀티미디어 서비스의 비디오 표준으로도 채택되어 많은 관심을 불러일으키고 있다. 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC 부호기를 위한 고정 비트 율 제어 알고리듬을 구현하고 이를 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 비디오 부호화 과정에서 각 픽처마다 발생하는 비트 량이 같지는 않지만 부호기 출력 비트 율은 일정하게 한 수 있으며 이를 고정 비트 율 제어라 한다 부호기는 입력 영상의 복잡도를 예측하고 실제 버퍼 점유도에 대한 피프백 정보를 이용하여 발생 비트 수글 조절한다. 특히 전송 대역폭 제한사항이 있는 고정 비트 율 채널 환경에서 비디오 부호기의 고정 비트 율 제어는 반드시 필요하다. JVT에서 제공하는 참조 소프트웨어인 JM(Joint Model) 소프트웨어가 아직까지 고정 비트 율 제어 기능을 지원하지 않으므로, MPEG-2 Part 2 Video 표준과 MPEG-4 Part 2 Visual 표준에서 고정 비트 율 제어에 이용되었던 TM5 고정 비트 율 제어 모델을 적용하여 H.264/AVC 부호기의 고정 비트 율 제어를 구현하였다.
