A Study on Multicultural Competence of University Students in the Fields of Human Services for the Era of Fusion and Convergence (융복합 시대 휴먼서비스분야 전공대학생의 다문화 역량에 관한 연구)

  • This study conducted research on the actual condition of multicultural education in universities and multicultural competence among university students. The overall results are discussed by two sections as follows: The average score of multicultural competence is 3.49, above moderate. The students who rate their multicultural competence high are those who have been abroad, lived in aborad, had foreign friends, or had communicative ability in foreign languages. There were significant differences in multicultural competence among students based on gender and major. Based on the overall results of the study, the several suggestions were made by the researcher as follows: Universities should support students' overseas volunteer program and encourage students to participate in domestic volunteer program for multicultural background groups.

  • This study aims to analyze the multicultural content of the Korean Elementary School Textbook revised in 2015. This study abstracted the framework of multicultural factors for analysis of multicultural contents from the research on "Revision Guidelines by Analysis of Multicultural Factors in Secondary Curriculum and Textbook". The analyzed textbook is the integrated winter textbooks for both the first and second grades revised curriculum in 2015. Several findings were represented as follows: first, the frequency of multicultural content displayed five times in first grade and nineteen times in second grade respectively. Second, the analyzed textbooks did not include contents directly associated with multiculturalism. Activities and experience is important in the acceptance of unfamiliar cultures Thus, multicultural contents' frequency of within textbooks is very crucial. Finally, the revised curriculum focused on activities and experiences about the theme and content in the textbook and was developed around block chassis. For teaching the textbook content, teachers must perfectly understand textbooks through teacher training. The textbooks of reflecting right values on multiculturalismIn. this respect, elementary school curriculum and textbook content should be improved by supplementary revision fitting for the growth of humanity in the multicultural era.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of multicultural competence on the organizational effectiveness of multicultural competence through the questionnaire survey of 327 kindergarten teachers attending C university in Seoul, Statistics were made using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0. The results of this study are as follows: First, the relationship between multicultural differentiation and multicultural knowledge, national identity, multicultural differentiation, relationship between multicultural awareness and willingness of multiculturalism, relationship between multicultural knowledge and organizational adaptability, relationship between multicultural awareness and organizational adaptability, There was a positive relationship between the relationship between organizational productivity, the relationship between multicultural differentiation and organizational productivity, and the relationship with global citizenship behavior. Second. Only multicultural awareness has an effect on organizational adaptability and organizational productivity. Therefore, in order to improve the organizational effectiveness of the nursery in the era of convergence, it is necessary for the nursery teachers to have an education program related to multicultural awareness in connection with organizational adaptability and organizational productivity, which are subordinate factors of organizational effectiveness.

  • South Korea is currently facing multiculturalism, appropriately demanding broadened view and access to the study of Unification, especially in terms of who should be the subject. In congruence, recent Unification Education studies are proposing values stressed in Multiculturalism to function as the core ground, upon which other traits and contents are to follow. Similarly, Christian Education field is also reflecting the recent trend, welcoming 'everyone' to participate in preparing reunification of Korean Peninsula. However, most studies consist of suggesting and introducing directions for new approaches, not so much of dealing with systems or guidelines for practical practices. Information provided in fragments can rather cause confusion in understanding the concept, and lack of specific guidelines can soon lead to poor performances. In this study, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is introduced as a methodology to be examined, whether it could effectively embody and systemize the newly emerged Multicultural Christian Unification Education. Therefore, the purpose of this study is 1) to generalize the concept of Christian unification education introduced in the multicultural era and 2) examine whether UDL is suitable for uniformizing and spreading the Multicultural approach of Christian Unification Education. Specifically, this study highly focused on examining whether UDL is a suitable methodology to achieve the goal of Multicultural Christian unification education, while uniformizing the diversities within multicultural Christian Unification Education. Through a thorough research, it was proved that the purpose and characteristics of multicultural Christian unification education are similar to those of UDL in that both focus on accepting heterogeneity as something "different" rather than something "wrong." Also, it was found that the application of the theory and guidelines of UDL can effectively unify while respecting the diverse methodologies used in Multicultural Christian Education.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of multicultural competence on the organizational effectiveness of daycare teachers and to provide basic data to improve organizational effectiveness of daycare facilities. To achieve this goal, 258 childcare teachers attending C university were sampled for convenience and statistical processing was performed using PASW. First, there was a positive correlation between organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and job satisfaction in the relationship between multicultural knowledge and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. second. The relationship between multicultural awareness and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and organizational commitment were all statistically correlated. Third, multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness have positive effects on organizational commitment, organizational adaptability, and organizational productivity. Fourth, multicultural knowledge has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to improve organizational effectiveness of day care facilities in the era of convergence, education programs related to multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness are needed for daycare teachers.

  • The era of globalization provides us with both opportunities and threats. The success of a multinational corporation depends largely on its ability to adapt itself to new market environment. We believe that understanding and implementing multicultural PR strategy can be a key to the multinational corporations' success in foreign markets. We argue in this paper that even a global iconic company such as Google needs to focus on how to understand local consumers' needs and preferences before formulating and implementing PR strategy. Having a global hit product or service is not sufficient enough to be successful in some foreign markets. It is especially more evident in the industries where companies deal with individual consumers, and perceptions and sentiments play a large role in their purchase decisions. The objective of this research is to find out the relationship between multicultural PR strategy and business performance. Therefore, our main hypothesis is; better implementation of multicultural PR strategy by a multinational corporation will result in higher performance in the foreign markets. To prove the relationship between multicultural PR strategy and performance, we designed a framework that uses Rudan's (2004) five rules for multicultural PR strategy. It is a contribution to the business academics as there are very few studies that directly focus on and analyze the multicultural aspects of a multinational company's PR strategy. Through our research, we found strong evidence that there is a positive relationship between the level and effectiveness of a company's multicultural PR strategy and its performance in the foreign markets. This offers some meaningful implications to the managers of the multinational corporations and those who are considering going into a foreign market for the first time. We also suggested a way of measuring the implementation of multicultural PR strategy. By applying five rules for multicultural PR strategy to Google's PR activities, it allowed us to convert qualitative information into quantitative data. This kind of tool can be helpful for multinational corporations that want to evaluate their own PR activities.

  • The 2020 Digital polarization in accordance with rapid information and communication technology (ICT) development arises as an important issue in the society of the time in S. Korea. And at that time of 2020 S. Korea society due to the multicultural families of nearly one million people are expected to start full-scale multicultural society. So this study has been developed ways to bridge the gap as the digital divide with a discussion of multicultural society policy relevant to advent of the era of the informatization. Also under changing environment of this new paradigm, this study proposed that the future strategic direction like expanded and enhanced information services relevant to multicultural families in S. Korea. So this study focused on the strategy consulting of multicultural society policy with e-Government of S. Korea by the application of 'scenario planning' as a foresight method. As a result, A desirable future vision of multicultural society policy with e-government in S. Korea is to build 'open platform' based on ICT-integrated data services.

The Phenomena and Problems of the Supporting Activities to the Multicultural Families in Goryeong-gun (고령군의 다문화가정 지원현황과 과제)

  • With the advent of the global era in earnest, and with the transnational migration and exchanges of capital, goods and cultures being actively progressed at regional level, the importance of a region as the immediate stage for such migration and exchanges is brought into relief. This study aimed to analyze the multicultural policies being implemented by Goryeong gun county and draw out points and problems by focusing on immigrant women on marriage who are the main subjects of the discourse on multiculturalism in Korea. According to this research, the supports for the multicultural families in Goryeong-gun were provided mainly by Goryeong-gun Office and Goryeong Office of Education and many similar contents in supporting activities overlapped. However, the related agencies were not linked sufficiently, and there were little efforts made to improve the contents of the supporting activities. In order to recognize accurately the multicultural phenomena in a region and make appropriate response and support for them, the regional government wi]] have to become the center for the support of multiculturalism and implement an integration policy so that the resources and people within the region can be used in the right place.

  • This study examines the structure and contents of the various programs offered by the Cologne City Library in Cologne, Germany, and discusses its implications for the role of the changing public libraries in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Cologne Municipal Library, which has continuously played a leading role in the education of German libraries since its opening, has been transforming itself to become a center for producing information and knowledge and developing culture in accordance with the dynamic era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Currently, the Cologne Municipal Library plays a role as a multi-cultural space in the community where local members can experience various cultures, such as movies, music and games, and create a culture, beyond the traditional functions of library collection and preservation. The program of the City Library in Cologne, Germany, will help to redesign the functions and roles of public libraries in Korea in the future, and plan library contents for local members.

  • In Korea has been supplied a large quantities of apartments since 1970s. The deteriorated middle-rise apartments of 1970s' have been rebuilt. It isn't lucrative to reconstruct the high-rise Apartment estates of the early 1990s' new towns in the capital area. Therefore the sustainable regeneration strategies of them have to be found. This research have been focused on the social and economical changes based on demography and the turning of technology and paradigm, the cities competitiveness compared with 2nd era new towns, physical deterioration of themselves. In these aspects, high-rise apartment estates in the 1st new towns face to 10 challenges such as an aging society, a multicultural society, U-city, an environmentally-friendly situation, the cities competitiveness of social, conomical and physical environment, the declining of estates, buildings and units. This study analyzed problems of 1st new town apartment estates and suggested regeneration tasks in accordence with those problems. The tasks are as follows. To accommodate the 1st new town apartment estates to social changes, they need to have a variety of community facilities and units, an opportunity of esidents participation. to establish a self-sufficient economy, a community usiness has to be vitalized and an ecological environment, an infrastructure of u-city and an improvement of physical environment obtained.
