  • Multicast has been a key routing service for efficient data dissemination in underwater acoustic sensor networks. In sensor networks, there are several multicast routing protocol which reflects sensor network nature. However, existing routing scheme was not targeted at underwater acoustic sensor networks which is hard to provide battery continually. Therefore, a specialized routing algorithm is essential for acoustic sensor networks. In this paper, we propose angle aided multicast routing algorithm for decreasing routing computation complexity, including virtual Euclidean Steiner point. Simulation results show better performance than exist routing Position Based Multicast, Geographic Multicast Routing. such as low computation capability and limited power consumption.

  • Wireless multicast is considered as an effective transmission mode for the future mobile social contact services supported by Long Time Evolution (LTE). Though wireless multicast has an excellent resource efficiency, its performance suffers deterioration from the channel condition and wireless resource availability. Cognitive Radio (CR) and Device to Device (D2D) are two solutions to provide potential resource. However, resource allocation for cognitive wireless multicast based on D2D is still a great challenge for LTE social networks. In this paper, a joint sub-carriers and power allocation model based on D2D for general cognitive radio multicast (CR-D2D-MC) is proposed for Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) LTE systems. By opportunistically accessing the licensed spectrum, the maximized capacity for multiple cognitive multicast groups is achieved with the condition of the general scenario of imperfect spectrum sensing, the constrains of interference to primary users (PUs) and an upper-bound power of secondary users (SUs) acting as multicast source nodes. Furthermore, the fairness for multicast groups or unicast terminals is guaranteed by setting a lower-bound number of the subcarriers allocated to cognitive multicast groups. Lagrange duality algorithm is adopted to obtain the optimal solution to the proposed CR-D2D-MC model. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the performance of cognitive multicast groups and achieves a good balance between capacity and fairness.

  • The growth of the Internet over the last several years has placed a tremendous strain on the high bandwidth Hence, the amount of internet traffic has risen sharply and it has demanded to use the limited resource. MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) is regarded as a core technology for migrating to the next generation Internet. It is important to reduce the number of labels and LSP(Label Switched Path)s for network resource management. In this thesis, we considered an MPLS multicast mechanism in the current Internet. The scalability problem due to lack of labels and multicast property is one of the serious problems in MPLS multicast mechanism, we proposed a Label Aggregation algorithm that the multicast packets on same link in MPLS allocates the same label for the scalability problem. In order to support the proposed algorithm we defined a new LDP(Label Distribution Protocol) multicast field and multicast packet is copied and transmitted for multicast group links of next node in LSR(label Switch Router).

  • This paper proposes a sound multicast packet-switching method which can less affect QoS(Quality of Service) degradation. The method includes a switch fabric with extra switching paths dedicated f()r multicast packets. Presented also are both a buffering structure and a scheduling algorithm for the proposed method. Simulation analysis for the method shows that the switching delay of unicast packets is decreased even though arrival rate of multicast packets is increased.

  • The change of any element in the network is possible to cause performance degradation of the multicast network. So it is necessary to optimize the topology path through the multicast update strategy, which directly affects the performance and user experience of the overlay multicast. In view of the above, a new multicast tree update strategy based on perturbation theory Musp (Multicast Update Strategy based on Perturbation theory) is proposed, which reduces the data transmission interruption caused by the multicast tree update and improves user experiences. According to the multicast tree's elements performance and the topology structure, the Musp strategy defines the multicast metric matrix and based on the matrix perturbation theory it also defines the multicast fluctuation factor. Besides it also demonstrates the calculability of the multicast fluctuation factor presents the steps of the Musp algorithm and calculates the complexity. The experimental results show that compared with other update strategies, as for the sensitivity of the multicast fluctuation factor's energized multicast tree to the network disturbance, the maximum delay of the Musp update strategy is minimal in the case of the local degradation of network performance.

  • Multicasting is the simultaneous transmission of data to multiple destinations. In multicast ATM networks the effect of failures on transmission links or nodes can be catastrophic so that the issue of survivability is of great importance. However little attention has been paid to the problem of multicast restoration. This paper presents an efficient heuristic technique for routing backup virtual paths in ulticast networks with link failure. Genetic algorithm is employed here as a heuristic. In the application of genetic algorithm to the problem, a new genetic encoding and decoding method and genetic operators are proposed in this paper. The other several heuristics are also presented in order to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm is a promising approach to solving the problem.

  • Constrained minimum Steiner tree (CMST) problem is a key issue in multicast routing with quality of service (QoS) support. Bounded shortest path algorithm (BSMA) has been recognized as one of the best algorithms for the CMST problem due to its excellent cost performance. This algorithm starts with a minimumdelay tree, and then iteratively uses a -shortest-path (KSP) algorithm to search for a better path to replace a “superedge” in the existing tree, and consequently reduces the cost of the tree. The major drawback of BSMA is its high time complexity because of the use of the KSP algorithm. For this reason, we investigate in this paper the possibility of more efficient implementations of BSMA by using different methods to locate the target path for replacing a superedge. Our experimental results indicate that our methods can significantly reduce the time complexity of BSMA without deteriorating the cost performance.

  • It is strongly believed that multicast will become one of the most promising services on internet for the next generation. Multicast service can be deployed either on network-layer or application-layer. IP multicast (network-layer multicast) is implemented by network nodes (i.e., routers) and avoids multiple copies of the same datagram on the same link. Despite the conceptual simplicity of IP multicast and its obvious benefits, it has not been widely deployed since there remain many unresolved issues. As an alternative to IP multicast, overlay multicast (application-layer multicast) implements the multicast functionality at end hosts rather than routers. This may require more overall bandwidth than IP multicast because duplicate packets travel the same physical links multiple times, but it provides an inexpensive, deployable method of providing point-to-multipoint group communication. In this paper we develop an efficient method applied greedy algorithm for solving two models of overlay multicast tree building problem that is aimed to construct MDST (Minimum Diameter Spanning Tree : minimum cost path from a source node to all its receivers) and MST (Minimum Spanning Tree : minimum total cost spanning all the members). We also simulate and analyze MDST and MST.

  • Many real-time multimedia applications, such as video conferencing have stringent end-to-end delay constraints and consume large amount of network resources. In order to support these applications efficiently, multicast routing algorithms computing least cost multicast trees that satisfy a given end-to-end delay constraint are needed. However, finding such a tree is known to be computationally expensive. Therefore, we propose a heuristic distributed multicast routing algorithm that reduces a “finding multicast tree”that satisfies a given end-to-end delay constraint and minimizes the average resulting tree cost. Also, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has much better average cost performance than other existing algorithms.
