Multiattribute Stochastic Statistical Dominance in Decision Making with Incomplete Information (불완전한 정보하의 의사결정하에서의 아중요인 추계적-통계적 우세법칙)

  • In multiattribute decision making a decision maker (DM) can choose the best alternative if his/her multiattribute utility function and the joint probability distribution of outcomes are exactly known. This paper develops multiattribute stochastic-statistical dominance rules which can be applied to the situation when neither of them is known exactly, that is, when the DM cannot calculate the expected utility for each alternative. First, the notion of relative risk aversion is used dominance rules are developed to screen out dominated alternatives so that hi/she choose the best one among the remaining nondominated alternatives.

Comparative Analysis of Multiattribute Decision Aids with Ordinal Preferences on Attribute Weights (속성 가중치에 대한 서수 정보가 주어질 때 다요소 의사결정 방법의 비교분석에 관한 연구)

  • In a situation that ordinal preferences on multiattribute weights are captured, we present two solution approaches: an exact approach and an approximate method. The former, an exact solution approach via interaction with a decision-maker, pursues the progressive reduction of a set of non-dominated alternatives by narrowing down the feasible attribute weights region. Subsequent interactive questions and responses, however, sometimes may not guarantee the best alternative or a complete rank order of a set of alternatives that the decision-maker desires to have. Approximate solution approaches, on the other hand, can be divided into three categories including surrogate weights methods, dominance value-based decision rules, and three classical decision rules. Their efficacies are evaluated in terms of choice accuracy via a simulation analysis. The simulation results indicate that a proposed hybrid approach, intended to combine an exact solution approach through interaction and a dominance value-based approach, is recommendable for aiding a decision making in a case that a final choice is seldom made at single step under attribute weights that are imprecisely specified beyond ordinal descriptions.

  • When people choose one way of action from various alternatives, they make value judgement. Due to limited capacity of human information processing, however, a decision maker cannot reflect his true subjective utility in evaluating alternatives especially for a problem which has multiattribute. The analytic hierachy model is a tool which converts scores derived from pairwise comparison with respect to each attribute to overall scores of the alternatives. Then the overall scores are utilized to choose an alternative. Therefore this model can be used to support people's value judgement.

  • LHR(Landfill Site Hazard Ranking Model) was developed for ranking the relative hazard of landfill sites by using the method of value-structured approach. LHR consists of combining a multiattribute decision-making method with a Qualitative risk assessment approach. A pairwise com parisian method was applied to determine weights of landfill site factors related. To determine the hazard of landfill site, hydrogeological factors, waste characteristics factors and receptors factors were evaluated by LHR. LHR can help decision-makers prioritization of remediation of landfill sites through the relatively convenient and concise evaluation method of landfill site features related. LHR focuses mainly on pathways of groundwater and surfacewater for evaluating landfill hazard to receptors including humans. To validiate the applicability of LHR, Nanjido Landfill site, Metropolitan Landfill site, and Hwasung Landfill site were evaluated.

  • Engineering design can be viewed as a decision making process, which involves the nonlinear tradeoffs task among the multiple conflicting attributes and considers the robustness of design. In order to obtain best engineering design, methodology for accurate assessment of his/her preference about the multiple attributes is required. Conventionally, intuitive procedures based on lottery questions are used to elicit the designer's preference structure: however, they can lead to inconsistent and inexact preference results due to the rank reversal problems derived from the designer's big cognitive burden. In this paper, alternatively, a design methodology based on multiattribute utility function through the pairwise comparison among alternatives is presented. The proposed procedure is applied to an actual injection mold design with the aid of the CAE simulation and the result is discussed.

Development of Methods to lmprove the Reliability of ELECTRE (복합기준 평가방법 ELECTRE의 신뢰도 증진을 위한 방안 연구)

  • ELEECTRE is a less demanding and potentially Bffective multiattribute evaluation method for pre-editing proeedure. The method, however, was developed based on probabilistic mathematicsand its reliability has never'been emprieally tested. This article examined the reliability of ELECTRo under various conditions of linear and non-linear utility func- tions using a Monte-Carlo shnulation, and found the method eausea a considerably high rate of error. To enhance the reliability of ELECTRE, two ways of modi(ication - adjust- ment of threshold values of concordance and discordance matrices, and adjustment of the required nunlber of probably-dominant alternatives to eliminate a probably-dominated alternative - were suggested, and their effctiveness was also tesed by a Monte-Carlo simulation. The simulation result chows that these modifications cponsiderably improve the reliability of ELECTRE, and yet maintain a reasonably high level of efficiency. Through these modifications, ELECTRE can be used as an efficient and feliable pre-editing method. Ways to implement ELECTRE in the construction of plainning decision support systens were discussed. The impli(els combination of this method and other multiattribute evaluation methods will help to create more effective decision suport systems.

  • AHP is a well-known multiattribute decision technique that has been applied to private and public areas. It is well suited to group decision making and offers many benefits as a synthesizing mechanism in group decisions. This paper explains why the AHP is well-suited to group decision making by means of the case study. Through this case study, this paper tried setting priorities for the strategic industry with the focus on the small and medium industry in Pusan.

  • The focus on the issues surrounding spent nuclear fuel and lifetime extension of old nuclear power plants continues to grow nowadays. A transparent decision-making process to identify the best suitable nuclear fuel cycle (NFC) is considered to be the key task in the current situation. Through this study, an attempt is made to develop an equilibrium model for the NFC to calculate the material flows based on 1 TWh of electricity production, and to perform integrated multicriteria decision-making method analyses via the analytic hierarchy process technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution, preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluation, and multiattribute utility theory methods. This comparative study is aimed at screening and ranking the three selected NFC options against five aspects: sustainability, environmental friendliness, economics, proliferation resistance, and technical feasibility. The selected fuel cycle options include pressurized water reactor (PWR) once-through cycle, PWR mixed oxide cycle, or pyroprocessing sodium-cooled fast reactor cycle. A sensitivity analysis was performed to prove the robustness of the results and explore the influence of criteria on the obtained ranking. As a result of the comparative analysis, the pyroprocessing sodium-cooled fast reactor cycle is determined to be the most competitive option among the NFC scenarios.

The simulation results indicate that a method, which combines an exact solution approach through interactions with the decision-maker and the dominance value-based approach is recommendable in a case that a decision is not made at a single step under imprecisely assessed weights information.
