Numerical calculations of aerodynamic performance for ATM train at crosswind conditions

  • This article presents the unsteady aerodynamic performance of crosswind stability obtained numerically for the ATM train. Results of numerical investigations of airflow past a train under different yawing conditions are summarized. Variations of occurrence flow angle from parallel to normal with respect to the direction of forward train motion resulted in the development of different flow patterns. The numerical simulation addresses the ability to resolve the flow field around the train subjected to relatively large yaw angles with three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS). ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model solved on a multi-block structured grid using a finite volume method. The massively separated flow for the higher yaw angles on the leeward side of the train justifies the use of RANS, where the results show good agreement with verification results. A method of solution is presented that can predict all aerodynamic coefficients and the wind characteristic curve at variety of angles at different speed.

  • This study presents a study on modified algorithm to operating train simulation of AT feeding systems. In this study equivalent impedance is constructed by $Z_c,\;Z_r,\;Z_f,\;Z_{cr},\;Z_{rf},\;Z_{fc}$. The train current flows through the all auto-transformer corresponding to track impedance. To calculate train voltage from analyzing the railway systems, the algorithm is based on the K. C. L, K. V. L, superposition and circuit separation method. Multi-train's voltages are determined by calculating the catenary voltage at each train's position and adding up these train's voltage drop. Case studies use a field operational data, show that the proposed method is easily applied.

  • 대도시 고밀도 도시철도에서는 상습 열차운행 지연과 혼잡으로 승객의 불편과 불만이 커지고 있다. 도시철도는 열차운행의 비정규성과 수요의 불확정성 등 지역간 철도와는 다른 특성을 가지고 있다. 도시철도 운영회사에서는 실적자료를 기반으로 열차운행품질과 혼잡도와 같은 서비스품질을 집계하여 관리하고 있다. 그러나 수요와 승객행태에 따라 열차운행이 동적으로 변하는 특성을 가지고 있어 실제 느끼는 서비스품질을 표현하기에는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 승객 관점에서의 서비스품질을 계량화하고, 도시철도에서 수요에 따른 정차시분 및 열차운행상태의 동적변화를 예측할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 방법과 지연/혼잡 해소방안에 대한 실제 사례를 기반으로 운행서비스품질의 변화를 예측할 수 있는 방법론을 제시한다.

  • This paper presents a modelling of railway facilities and signalling system based on object-oriented software development technique to simulate multi-train movements on the complex railway network. Block and interlocking functions of signalling system is modelled using Node-Link model of railway network and signal control logic, which can be used to set the train routes and control the train movement. A brief explanation of class design about these model is provided.

  • Many changes in the railway environment has directly affected to the railway company. To cope immediately with the influence of environment and to promote productivity, the railway company has to introduce an efficient train operation system and related core technologies. The railway system is composed or large-scale infrastructures ann high-cost trains. Simulation method is one or core technologies and also is efficient tool for planning and analyzing this kind of complex system. The purpose of this research is to develop multi-train traffic simulator considering high-speed train for GyongBu-Line. To achieve this objective, the elements of railway system was analyzed, and as a result, a data structure modeling for the railway system such as rail-Tine infrastructure, rain, timetable and operational route is presented. The developed simulator is composed of three major part : input-module, main-module, and output module. The concept and brief explanation of each module will be treated.

  • The next generation domestic high speed railway system is a power distributed type and uses vector control method for motor speed control. Nowadays, inverter driven induction motor system is widely used. However, recently PMSM drives are deeply considered as a alternative candidate instead of an induction motor driven system due to their advantages in efficiency, noise reduction and maintenance. The next-generation high-speed train is composed of 2 converter units, 4 inverter units, and 4 Traction Motor units. Each motor is connected to the inverter directly. In this paper, the effects of IPMSM parameter variation to the system operation characteristics of the multi inverter driven high speed train system are investigated. The parallel connected inverter input-output characteristics are analyzed to the parameter mismatches of the IPMSM in 1C1M control using Matlab/Simulink, then the reliability of the simulation results are verified through experimental results.

  • The power supply system in Korean electrified railway has adopted AT feeding. If a fault occurs in some substation for any reason, the vicinity substation must feed electric power on the outage substation through catenary. So, the feeding distance grows twice of the normal state at extended feeding condition. If substation's feeding distance is longer than normal condition, the catenary impedance and train to supply electric power from the substation. Therefore, the severe voltage drop can occur and power supply shall be not allowed. This paper presents the model of compensator against voltage drop using multi-port network algorithm. Whole traction power supply system can be analyzed with this model. Computer simulation including this model is performed based on real train schedule and increased schedule in case studies.

Vibration simulation of a multi-story high-speed railway station

  • Station is an important building in high-speed railway, and its vibration and noise may significantly affect the comfort of waiting passengers. A coupling vibration model for train-structure system is established to analyze and evaluate the vibration level of a typical waiting hall under dynamic train load. The motion of a four-axle vehicle with two suspension system is modeled in multi-body dynamics with linear springs and dampers employed. The station is modeled as a whole finite element structure which is 113 m in longitudinal and 163.5 m in lateral, and the stiffness of the station foundation is considered. According to the assumptions that both wheel and rail are rigid bodies and keep contact to each other in vertical direction, and the wheel/rail interaction and displacement coordination in horizontal direction is defined by the simplified Kalker creep theory, the vehicle spatial vibration model has 27 degrees-of-freedom. An overall analysis procedure is made of the train moving through the station, by which the dynamic responses of the train and the station are calculated. According to the comparison between analysis and test results, the actual connection status between different parts of the station is estimated and the vibration level of the waiting hall is evaluated.

  • 다중 효용 해수 담수화 설비에 적용되는 증기이젝터 진공장치에 대한 수치해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 해수 담수화 과정을 위한 증기이젝터 진공장치의 성능특성에 대한 수치적 검토를 수행하는 데에 있다. 증기이젝터 내부의 유동특성을 보다 잘 파악하고 최적의 설계를 도모하기 위하여, 노즐 사이즈 및 디퓨저 축소각의 변화와 같은 설계변수의 변화가 증기이젝터의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 논의하였다. 해석결과는 실험결과와 전반적으로 잘 일치함을 알 수 있으며, 목부에서의 shock train 현상도 잘 재현하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
