  • A multi-purpose canister (MPC) was developed for the purpose of transportation, storage and disposal of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and has the advantage of minimizing repackaging between management stages of SNF. Considering the typical rock characteristics in Korea, a disposal canister is expected to contain 4 assemblies of Pressurized water reactor (PWR) SNF. The capacity of the MPC should be similarly designed with the disposal canister. However, the MPC with four SNF assemblies is expected to be less efficient in transporting and storing compared to a large-capacity canister. Therefore, a preliminary concept was derived for an auxiliary equipment that can transport and store multiple MPCs in a large overpack. A previously derived concept from US was thoroughly reviewed, and the preliminary concept was revised considering domestic situations including crane capacity and others. In addition, the safety of the normal transportation and storage of the MPC placed in transportation and storage overpack was evaluated with the auxiliary equipment.

  • The main purpose of this study is to highlight the effects of the Bolman and Deal's multi-frame leadership on the several dependent variables such as job satisfaction, respect from subordinates, effective goal attainment, promotion speed, and recognition as more a leader than a manager. To attain this purpose, 488 questionnaires verified to be free from flaws were processed through SPSS 14 Windows. The major finding was that versatile and adroit use of multiple frames can contribute to the effectiveness and success of the leader. That is, the multi-frame leadership had strong relationships with dependent variables such as trust and respects from subordinates, effective attainment of unit's goal, job satisfaction, recognition as more a real leader than as a manager, and promotion speed of boss. When we consider the ever-increasing environmental complexity surrounding every organization and the growing levels of needs of employees, the use of multi-frame leadership is not an 'ought' but a 'must' for all the people who aspire to become effective and successful leaders.

  • When many holes on a plane are machined simultaneously, the positional precision and machining efficiency are very important. Multi-spindle heads are typical order making products of which the number of shafts and hole positions vary depending on the size or form of the product. For the automatic design of multi-spindle heads, the design modules for power transmission systems for drive, idle, and spindle shafts were developed, and a design technique the determining the optimum position and number of idle shafts according to gear positions was developed. In addition, for the precise determination of the multi-spindle head, the design methods for the guide planes of columns, and feed mechanisms were devised. In addition, the design modules for accurate clamping and automatic transportation mechanisms were developed. Finally, in order to simplify and standardize the design process, the design analysis and simulation verification modules are integrated.
