단인과 다인 정면밀리의 가공특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Machining Characteristics of Single-insert and Multi-insert Face Milling)

  • Face milling is required to study cutting process with a view of multipoint cutter. This experimental study mainly deals with the single and multi-insert cutting characteristics using coated tool. Because metal cutting of the single and multi-insert has a large relation to the improvement of productivity, the economic cutting process can be achieved by the analysis of proper metal cutting mechanism. Therefore, machining characteristics of face molling in this paper has been studied by investigating the role of different insert number which is concerned with mean cutting force, the RMS values of AE(acoustic emission) signal, tool life and surface roughness in milling SS 41 and SUS 304. The cutting force and AE signal are monitored to make an analysis of cutting process. The surface roughness of the specimens machined by inserts of different numbers is measured at different speeds, feeds and depth of cut. The width of flank wear is also observed.

  • This research presents a modeling and a manufacturing method of insert type milling cutters such as face cutter, flat endmill and ball endmill. The methods introduced in this paper adopts the multi-tasking 5-axis machining that is increasing machining accuracy of holder and position accuracy of bolting points. So this can be used in the basic document of the total package program that involves modeling and manufacturing module in various insert cutters.

  • The experimental investigation is mainly focused to detect tool wear by cutting signal measurements in multi-insert face milling SS 41 and STS 304. This research have investigated the effects on the insert number, which has relationship with mean-cutting force. AE(acoustic emission) signal, tool life and surface roughness in machining SS41 and STS 304. The cutting force and AE signal are monitored to analyse the cutting process, The surface roughness of the specimens machined by TiN coated tool with the various insert numbers measured at various cutting speeds, feed rates and depths of cut, The width of flank wear is also observed.

  • The quality and productivity in machining automobile parts are influenced by various factors such as cutting conditions, vibration, and used tool. To improve the quality and productivity of the automobile parts(torsion beam), lots of research on the evaluation of tool life and control of surface roughness has been required. Therefore, the width of flank wear, cutting force, and surface roughness are monitored to analyse the characteristics of tool wear and surface roughness at different tools. This experimental investigation is mainly focused on the characteristics of the tool wear, tool life and surface roughness in multi-insert milling of automobile parts(torsion beam) by using uncoated tungsten carbide tool(WC), TiN coated tool, and cermet tool.

다인공구의 파손검출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fracture Detection of Multi-Point-Tool)

  • In modern industry the requirement of automation of manufacturing process increases so that unmanned system has been popular as an ultimate goal of modern manufacturing process. In unmanned manufacturing process the tool fracture is a very serious problem because it results in the damage of workpieces and can stop the operation of whole manufa- turing system. In this study, image processing technique is used to detect the fracture of insert tip of face milling using multi-point-tool. In order to acquire the image information of fracture shape of rotation insert tip. We set up the optical system using a light beam chopper. In this system we can reduce the image degradation generated from stopped image of rotating insert tip using image restoration technique. We calculated the mean square error to diagnose the condition of tool fracture, and determind the criteria of tool fracture using experimental and staticstical method. From the results of this study we've developed non- contact detection technique of tool fracture using image processing method and proposed the fracture direction of automation and unmanned system considering the optimal time of tool change milling.

인서트 자동검사를 위한 시각인식 알고리즘 (A Machine Vision Algorithm for the Automatic Inspection of Inserts)

  • In this paper, we propose a machine vision algorithm for inspecting inserts which are used for milling and turning operations. Major defects of the inserts are breakage and crack on insert surfaces. Among the defects, breakages on the face of the inserts can be detected through three stages of the algorithm developed in this paper. In the first stage, a multi-layer perceptron is used to recognize the inserts being inspected. Edge detection of the insert image is performed in the second stage. Finally, in the third stage breakages on the insert face are identified using Hough transform. The overall algorithm is tested on real specimens and the results show that the algorithm works fairly well.

  • CNC 공작기계들을 이용한 품질향상과 생산성 향상을 위하여 2,3축 CNC 공작기계들에 부가축(2축)을 추가하여 생산 공정개선을 위해 노력하고 있다. 일반적인 CNC 공작기계들의 가공공정보다는 가공물의 공정간 이동이 현저히 줄어들기 때문에 생산성 향상과 더불어 정밀도 유지가 향상되기 때문이다. 그런데 기계가공 현장에서는 일반적으로 CAD(2.5D)와 CNC 공작기계의 수동프로그램 작업에 익숙한 작업들이 많다. 따라서 부가축을 추가한 CNC 공작 기계들의 원활한 활용을 위해 CAD/CAM의 VBScript을 활용하여 다축, 다공정 가공프로그램을 편리하게 작성할 수 있도록 한 것이다. VBScript을 컴파일하여 CAD/CAM Software(2.5D)에서 밀링용 Face Cutter의 Insert Tip 자리를 대상으로 수행한 결과 수동 프로그램 작성 시간 단축은 물론 복잡한 Multi CAD/CAM Software보다는 접근성이 편리하며, 다양한 제품들을 빠르게 프로그램 할 수 있었다.

  • The ideal surface roughness is obtained by tool geometry and feed rate in face milling. however actual surface roughness is affected by various factors such as cutting conditions. vibration and used tool.   • This paper presents a methodology for identifying the cutter runout geometry in end milling process. Cutter runout is common but undesirable phenomenon in multi-tooth machining because it introduces variable chip loading to insert which results in a accelerated tool wear. amplification of force variation and hence enlargement vibration amplitude From understanding of chip load change kinematics, the analytical cutting force convolution model was formulated as the angular domain convolution model was formulated as the angular domain convolution of three dynamic cutting force component functions. By virtue of the convolution integration property, the frequency domain expression of the local cutting forces and the chip width density of the cutter. Experimental study is presented to validate the analytical model. This study provides the in-process monitoring and compensation of dynamic cutter runout to improve machining tolerance and surface quality for industrial application.
