  • In most inverter/converter applications SVPWM method is a preferred approach since it shows good characteristics in linear modulation range and waveform quality. In this paper, we propose a new carrier based SVPWM method for multi-level system, First, we survey the conventional carrier based SVPWM method, and investigate the problem of the conventional one for the multi-level system with the focus on the switching frequency harmonic flux trajectories. Finally, we propose a new carrier based SVPWM method that can reduce harmonic distortion. Simulation and experimental results are given for verification of the proposed SVPWM method.

  • This paper investigates the performance comparison of a Terahertz (THz) communications for a single-carrier and a multi-carrier single antenna point-to-point communication system. The multi-carrier system and single carrier system consider the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and the minimum mean square error linear equalizer (MMSE-LE), respectively. We compare the frame-error-rate (FER) and throughput performance of both the systems for a THz communication environment with the carrier frequency of 300GHz and the tapped delay line (TDL) channel models described in 3GPP. It is observed from the simulation results that the OFDM systems outperform the MMSE-LE for various configurations.

  • The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluated the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model. interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges form -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. Form the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control)shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel Vehicular Ad-hoc Network(VANET) which includes communication and ranging features, using Spread Spectrum(SS) multi-carrier modulation scheme. In existing methods, a spread spectrum technique was used to communicate with other vehicles and raging was possible by detecting phase difference between transmission/reception of the PN signal. However, the use of high-speed PN signals is mandatory to detect possible errors of phase difference and to increase the analysis capacity. In the proposed system, multi-carrier modulation scheme was used as solution of mentioned problem. The multi-carrier modulation scheme uses smaller PN signal and chip-rate than the single-carrier modulation, so it is possible to send multiple carrier waves using the same frequency range. This technique (multiple carrier waves) allows to have the Equal Gain Combing (EGC) diversity effect, providing better result in phase difference error detection and raging accuracy.

  • This paper presents a systematical approach to study carrier based PWM techniques (CPWM) in diode-clamped and cascade multilevel inverters by using a proposed named multi-modulating pattern method. This method is based on the vector correlation between CPWM and the space vector PWM (SVPWM) and applicable to both multilevel inverter topologies. A CPWM technique can be described in a general mathematical equation, and obtain the same outputs similarly as of the corresponding SVPWM. Control of the fundamental voltage, vector redundancies and phase redundancies in multilevel inverter can be formulated separately in the CPWM equation. The deduced CPWM can obtain the full vector redundancy control, and fully utilize phase redundancy in a cascade inverter In this continued part, it will be deduced correlation between CPWM equations in multi-carrier system and single carrier system, present the mathematical model of voltage source inverter related to the common mode voltage and propose a general algorithm for multi-modulating modulator. The obtained theory will be demonstrated by simulation results.

  • In this paper, the performance of a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system with Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_{c}/L$ diversity in the multipath Rayleigh fading environment is analyzed and compared with that of a Wideband DS-CDMA system. Each carriers of the number of the input diversity branches in the Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is L and among L, the branches of $L_c$ are chosen to be maximum-ratio-combined. And the diversity outputs are coherent-detected and despread by the correlator of each carrier. As the result, we have known that the structure of the Wideband DS-CDMA system with Hybrid $SC/MRC-L_{c}/L$ diversity reception becomes simple due to no synchronization of bit or phase and in terms of the error performance, the performance of Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_{c}/L$ diversity is better than that of selection diversity, but worse than that of MRC diversity. Moreover, the performance of a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is better than that of a Wideband DS-CDMA system in multipath Rayleigh fading channel since Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_c/L$ diversity can obtain gain from each diversity branch. In case four carriers are used and required BER is $10^{-6}$ in wireless data communication, Hybrid SC/MRC-2/4 diversity can increase more 17 users than Hybrid SC/MRC-2/3 diversity because the better input branches can be selected through increase of input branches.
