Nonlinear dynamic analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) frame under earthquake loading is performed in this paper on the basis of a hysteretic moment-curvature relation. Unlike previous analytical moment-curvature relations which take into account the flexural deformation only with the perfect-bond assumption, by introducing an equivalent flexural stiffness, the proposed relation considers the rigid-body-motion due to anchorage slip at the fixed end, which accounts for more than 50% of the total deformation. The advantage of the proposed relation, compared with both the layered section approach and the multi-component model, may be the ease of its application to a complex structure composed of many elements and on the reduction in calculation time and memory space. Describing the structural response more exactly becomes possible through the use of curved unloading and reloading branches inferred from the stress-strain relation of steel and consideration of the pinching effect caused by axial force. Finally, the applicability of the proposed model to the nonlinear dynamic analysis of RC structures is established through correlation studies between analytical and experimental results.
This study is devoted to developing many new substructure models for ballasted railway track by using the pyramid model philosophy. As the effect of railway embankment has been less considered in the previous studies in the field of vehicle/track interaction, so the present study develops the pyramid models in the presence of railway embankment and implements them in vehicle/track interaction dynamic analyses. Considering a moving car body as multi bodies with 10 degrees of freedom and the ballasted track including rail, sleeper, ballast, subgrade and embankment, two categories of numerical analyses are performed by considering the new substructure systems including type A (initiation of stress overlap areas in adjacent sleepers from the ballast layer) or type B (initiation of stress overlap areas in adjacent sleepers from the subgrade layer). A comprehensive sensitivity analyses are performed on effective parameters such as ballast height, sleepers spacing and sleeper width. The results indicate that the stiffness of subgrade, embankment and foundation increased by increasing the ballast height. Also, by increasing the ballast height, rail and ballast vertical displacement decreased.
To investigate the effects of "sudden change" of wind fluctuations on vehicle running performance, which is caused by the artificial discrete simulation of wind field, a three-dimensional vehicle model is set up with multi-body dynamics theory and the vehicle dynamic responses in crosswind conditions are obtained in time domain. Based on Hilbert Huang Transform, the effects of simulation separations on time-frequency characteristics of wind field are discussed. In addition, the probability density distribution of "sudden change" of wind fluctuations is displayed, addressing the effects of simulation separation, mean wind speed and vehicle speed on the "sudden change" of wind fluctuations. The "sudden change" of vehicle dynamic responses, which is due to the discontinuity of wind fluctuations on moving vehicle, is also analyzed. With Principal Component Analysis, the comprehensive evaluation of vehicle running performance in crosswind conditions at different simulation separations of wind field is investigated. The results demonstrate that the artificial discrete simulation of wind field often causes "sudden change" in the wind fluctuations and the corresponding vehicle dynamic responses are noticeably affected. It provides a theoretical foundation for the choice of a suitable simulation separation of wind field in engineering application.
Safety is the prime concern for a high-speed railway bridge, especially when it is subjected to a collision. In this paper, an analysis framework for the dynamic responses of train-bridge systems under collision load is established. A multi-body dynamics model is employed to represent the moving vehicle, the modal decomposition method is adopted to describe the bridge structure, and the time history of a collision load is used as the external load on the train-bridge system. A (180+216+180) m continuous steel trussed-arch bridge is considered as an illustrative case study. With the vessel collision acting on the pier, the displacements and accelerations at the pier-top and the mid-span of the bridge are calculated when a CRH2 high-speed train running through the bridge, and the influence of bridge vibration on the running safety indices of the train, including derailment factors, offload factors and lateral wheel/rail forces, are analyzed. The results demonstrate that under the vessel collision load, the dynamic responses of the bridge are greatly enlarged, threatening the running safety of high-speed train on the bridge, which is affected by both the collision intensity and the train speed.
The purpose of this raper is to assess the benefits of frequency domain fatigue analysis and compare it with more conventional time domain techniques. The multi-body dynamic analysis, FE analysis and fatigue life prediction technique are applied for the frequency domain fatigue analysis. To obtain the dynamic load history used in the frequency domain fatigue analysis, the computer simulations running over typical road Profiles are carried out by utilizing vehicle dynamic model. The fatigue life estimation for the rear suspension system of small-sized passenger car is performed by using resonance durability analysis technique, and the estimation results are compared with the conventional quasi-static durability analysis results. For the pothole simulation, the percent changes, of the fatigue life between the two durability analysis techniques don't exceed 10%. But for the Belgian road simulation because of the resonance effect, the fatigue life using the resonance durability analysis technique are much smaller estimated than the quasi-static durability analysis results.
The windshield wiper consists of 4 parts: a blade, an arm, a linkage and a motor. The wiper blade makes contact with the windshield and is designed to be operated normally at an angle of 30~50 degrees to the front glass. If the contact pressure between the wiper blade and windshield surface is too high, noise and wear of the rubber will result. On the other hand, if the contact pressure is too low, the performance will do badly, since foreign substances such as dust and stains will not be removed well. The pressure and friction of the wiper blade has a great influence on its effectiveness in cleaning the front window. This is due to the contact of the rubber with the window. This paper presents the dynamic analysis method to estimate the performance of the flat type blade of the wiper system. The blade has a nonlinear characteristic since the rubber is an incompressible hyper-elastic and visco-elastic material. Thus, Structural dynamic analysis using a complex contact model for the blade is performed to find the characteristics of the blade. The flexible multi-body dynamic model is verified by the comparison between test and analysis result. Also, the optimization using the central composite design table is performed.
This study presents full vehicle dynamics model for the dynamic characteristic analysis of chassis parts which are suspension and brake system. This vehicle dynamics model is appled to kinematics and quasi-static analysis for each chassis part. In order to develop the vehicle dynamics model, the parameters of each chassis element part which are bush, spring and damper are measured by experiment. Also the wheel forces and moments of 6 DOF are measured at each wheel center. These data are applied to input parameter for vehicle dynamics model. And the verification of the developed model is achieved to comparison with the experimental force data of spring, trailing arm and assist arm by using the load response by strain gauge. These experimental force data are acquired by road test at event surfaces of P/G which are belgian and chuck holes roads.

A bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode consisting of specially designed $p^--n^{{+}+}-p^-$ multi-junctions was developed using low temperature (LT) epitaxy and fabrication processes. Its electrostatic discharge (ESD) performance was investigated using I-V, C-V, and various ESD tests including the human body model (HBM), machine model (MM) and IEC 61000-4-2 (IEC) analysis. The symmetrical structure with very sharp and uniform bidirectional multi-junctions yields good symmetrical I-V behavior over a wide range of operating temperature of 300 K-450 K and low capacitance as 6.9 pF at 1 MHz. In addition, a very thin and heavily doped $n^{{+}+}$ layer enabled I-V curves steep rise after breakdown without snapback phenomenon, then resulted in small dynamic resistance as $0.2{\Omega}$, and leakage current completely suppressed down to pA. Manufactured bidirectional TVS diodes were capable of withstanding ${\pm}4.0$ kV of MM and ${\pm}14$ kV of IEC, and exceeding ${\pm}8$ kV of HBM, while maintaining reliable I-V characteristics. Such an excellent ESD performance of low capacitance and dynamic resistance is attributed to the abruptness and very unique profiles designed very precisely in $p^--n^{{+}+}-p^-$ multi-junctions.
Being carried out a number of studies for the resilient mounting system of automobile engine than that of the studies for marine engines, many research results for the case of the resilient mounting system of the automobile engine have applied in the analysis for the case of marine engine. However, the size and the power of automobile engines are not only relatively small but also their operating conditions are quite different form those of marine engines. For the analysis of the automobile engine Wavelet shrinkage, misfire condition and unload condition have not been considered. Accordingly , it is not desirable to apply the results obtained form the case of automobile engines to the case of marine engines. In this study , exciting and damping forces working on the marine engine are formulated mathematically in order to apply to the design of a resilient mounting system of engine effectively. futhermore, some mathematical formulation for the analysis of the transmissibility of multi-body system are proposed. A new computer program which is able to calculate the free vibration, the transmissibility and the forced vibration of a resilient mounting system has been developed, As an application of this developed computer program, the dynamic behavior of resilient system with an actual rubber spring for the case of 6-degree-of-freedom system and 36-degree-of-freedom system are evaluated quantitatively.
